So we have started set naps once again...
« on: July 03, 2013, 13:53:09 pm »
We started set naps for the third time on Sunday and FX this time has been a success so far!
It took only two days for him to catch on and we are getting good naps.
We are teething our last molar so I have been medicating for naps and dream meds but I think since it is cutting right now and it is so painful, in the early morning hours it still bothers him a bit.

These are the last four days:

30/06
WU 0630
A 5.5hr
S 1200-1330 woke crying
A 5hr05
BT 1835
NW 0530 tossing and turning, not sure if asleep
WU 0610??

01/07 12hr
WU 0610
A 5hr45
S 1155-1340 woke crying
A 5hr05
BT 1845
NW 1935 co, ss
NW 2200 co, ss
NW 0515 co, ss
NW 0545
WU 0700

02/07
WU 0700
A 4hr55
S 1155-1400 (1320 co, ss) woke crying
A 5hr
BT 1900
NW 0500 co, ss
NW 0600-0610 tossing and turning, I don't think he was sleeping
WU 0600 or 0630??

03/07
WU 0630
A 5hr30
S 1200-1440 woke happy!!!!

So now what? I know set naps are supposed to be set but won't he be UT at BT after such a long nap? I am kind of confused as to what to do because I know he likes a 5hr A after a good nap. I am afraid of UT NW! I know some people do set nap and A time to BT? I saw skadiver's post that zacsmumme commented on and she says she did a set nap of 12 with BT 5hrs after wakeup from nap which would make it 1940. Pon the other hand I know that on set nap you aren't supposed to change the BT and maybe he was Doing a catch up nap now that he is getting used to the set times?

Anyone have advice as of what to do?

I'm afraid I don't have any advice just wanted to say good luck, we managed 10 days of set naps and are now back to 2 naps as he was so OT and grumpy  :-[ so I'll be watching your thread for advice for when I think we're ready to try again

FX for long, restorative naps!

Personally I'd do normal BT, just my experience but the long naps are often catch ups.  He looked pretty OT over the past few days. Worst comes to worst he takes a while to fall asleep x

Last night was pretty much like all the rest.

BT 0705
NW 0000 I think teething pain. Resettled with gel
NW 0100 teething pain again? Resettled with gel
NW 0500
WU 0600

He wakes at exactly 5 every morning and resettles and the again at 6 when I have to goin to resettle. He will always lie back down when I resettle but he usually won't sleep, just lie there for 20-30 min more and then he stands up and cries for me. When he wakes he is crying and rubbing his eyes which makes me think he needs another hour of sleep or so. I don't know what to do though? Will the later wake ups happen in time or is there something I can do? I would consider w2s but since he wakes at 5 also how could that be done?

I'd suspect teeth for the EW, can you give meds?

I give meds at BT and dream meds around 3am. Before I gave meds he would wake at 5 and be done. With the meds he resettles at 5 but at 6 there is no way... I wonder if he is still in pain with meds or if it is not related to teeth at all? What do you think?

If he's still wanting teething gel even after BT meds then yeh that would be my guess. Barring anything like light/noise etc.

No light or noise. I dont know what i can do then except ride it out, i guess
This damn molar! Everyday i think, this is it, today it will cut for sure!...and then nothing. It is pushing so hard on his gums. Do you think giving calpol and nurofen would be too much?

Gave both types of meds last night and with DM. He slept through until 0520 and wouldnt resettle!  :-\ do you still think its teeth? The molar is about to cut and its really pushing but could he STILL be in pain with all those meds? I dont like medicating THAT much if its not going to help the EW. He woke crying badly. I tried to resettle, he cried for a while until he just laid down, eyes wide open until 6 when i guess he became bored and cried for me to come in....
So what now?? Should i just wait it out and hope it gets better.? Do you think its teeth or OT?

Put him down today at 12 per set nap time. He is sprisingly holding up well, although I know he is tired. I am really scare of an OT nap...how long does it take for the set nap to work? We are on day 6...
