Hi

sorry need to have an update (moan) again  :P

2 naps weren't going well as he often refused the 2nd and made bedtime difficult so the last 3-4 days we've got him onto 1 nap and what appears to be a good schedule (approx times):

wake 6:30 (might actually wake before this but have a quick drink and settle for 20 mins)
nap 11:30-1:30
asleep 7-7:15pm

He seems tried during the morning unless he's distracted but doing ok on this schedule. I know, i know i'm expecting too much too soon but i need a bit of reassurance that things will improve!! I'm shattered!!

He's still waking 2-3 times per night. He usually asks for pain meds and drink - which i give him - but wondering if its more of a habit  :-[ 5mls of nurofen doesn't necessarily help him sleep any better. He doesn't seem to want anything and often seems still half asleep, although he's standing up and crying properly. Whats so frustrating is he goes to bed brilliantly - mumbles in his bed for 5-10 mins before going to sleep and not waking for first 3-4 hrs. He doesn't drink very much milk but eats lots of solids and dinner is an hour or two before bedtime. He does wake up hungry in the morning.

Please tell me if i am missing something!

I can see us heading for the 18mth sleep regression which we won't even notice since he hasn't ever slept well!  :P

Lucky you, the 18SR here was hell!!!

My only observation is that your LO may be OT. That's a long afternoon. I'm not sure my LO would manage that without getting OT and she's 25m. If you think he might be OT, I'd aim for either a longer nap EBT until things settle down.

Teeth are probably not helping with the OT. My DD always Sedna to get super tired when teething and need extra to catch up.

What do you think?

Thanks hena, yes you're right I think It will have to be ebt. He napped from 11-1:15 today, thats one of the longest he's ever had.
My mum has taken him overnight tonight to give me some sleep, I've told her to give him meds before bed just in case.

Good old mum eh!!! Well make sure you make the most if it.

I know! she's an absolute star! she's also his paid childminder so maybe i owe her some overtime  ;D
I feel 100x better today

Last night he went to bed at mums later than usual, 6-7 hrs after nap and woke twice around 10pm (not surprised), given nurofen and STTN til 7am!!!!!!!! I'm hoping his nap might be able to push back today til nearer midday and EBT at 6:30-7pm.
Mum said when he woke it seemed like a night terror, not really awake and couldn't really soothe him or understand what he wanted. Obviously too young for a night terror, probably just OT?

I'd say probably more likley a OT than a night terror. Although teeth hsve caused my DD to wakeup seemingly scared. I imagine if they get a sudden pain whilst happily in the land of nod, its going to be a tad scary!

Well thats great progress. Good plan re: pushing the nap out. Good luck. Got everything crossed for you x

Sorry, i'm going to keep updating this in the hope that by writing it down a pattern (and solution!) might emerge

Yesterday:
wake 7am
nap    11:30-2pm
asleep 7:30pm (later than planned due to noisy visitors!)

During night - awake 11pm, 12:30am (calpol), 5:30am. Kept in bed til 6:30, prob not gone back to sleep.

No worries, I'm still checking in. Just one thing, how long were the NW at 11am and 12.30 a d what was your LO doing - crying, chatting etc?

Thankyou  :-*

He is still half asleep and not happy during the NW's, he wanted calpol (which i resisted at first but quickly caved in!) and he was back in cot after a few mins. I leave the room straightaway but think he goes back to sleep quite quickly. 5am he was chatting.

I think, in theory, it must be pain and/or OT for the NW's? I should try for an EBT and dose of nurofen?

Problem today is he went to sleep at 9am-11am and my mum has him out of the house, he'll probably fall asleep in her car at 4:30pm......GAH!!

aagh, not so good. I think at the moment as far as you can you need to stay consistent, so you might have to try and get your mum on board!

i agree, probably combo of teeth and OT - here teeth causes OT! I would definitely do meds before bed and perhaps even consider DM. Its a painful suggestion, but one that I took up out if desperation and that was to medicate at around 3.30am to try and get past the 5am WU if it is discomfort that's causing it. It worked for us for a short time with canines (truly the pits!).

got everything xd for you x
