Can we get the word "m arking" back, please?

Seen as so many kids are now school age, that word is kind of important and the oops thing is annoying  :-\

I know the reason for it, but it doesn't help at all anyway.

Pretty please?

I agree. And no one marks their spot any more. Everyone is really good about writing a proper post.

Or they say "listening in" or "will post later". And do that as well. Maybe there can be a sticky explaining the original issue or something?

Yeah, I think most people join posts either to support the OP or to get some ideas for themselves - and that seems like a genuine reason to be there, for me.

technically, it's important to one area of the world....in the US we say grading.   :P  but I agree with you that it is annoying.  it was far less annoying than people marking their spots, though.

And no one marks their spot any more. Everyone is really good about writing a proper post.

you all have a valid point, though.  (although I do still delete some one-liners on occasion)  it's worth a shot.  I've taken it out of the censor.

oh, and it is in the community guidelines already:

It's been fairly irritating when i've been marking papers for uni in the past- I never even THOUGHT to say 'grading'!
