urgent help regarding changing sleep pattern
« on: September 03, 2006, 21:59:48 pm »
All of a sudden. since last two days our DD is changing her sleep timings! Not only that for the first time ever she is napping for 1-1.15 hrs  :o

Do babies do this around this age? She is 6.5 months. She is going from 4 30mins naps to only 2 naps - monring and afternoon consisting of anywhere from 30 mins to 1.30 hr each. I dont know what is going on? Her bedtime was 7:30 before but now she does not goto bed till 8-8:30pm  :o

I am totally confused  ???  >:( Should I move her bed time earlier then? Since she doesnt nap at all after 3-4pm ie after her second nap, its very hard to get her to catnap during evening! What do I do? She has also started to wake up during night and would not goto bed easily. I hope she is not catching cold or something. She cries before naps/bedtime. Overtired? But she wont goto bed if I try to put her to sleep before she yawns or rubs her eyes? I am guessing overtired but have no idea when to put her to bed/nap.

Currently her routine is
7-7:30 wake up
she wont go for nap till 10am
then again around 1:30 naps - this is the last one
she wont goto bed till 8-8:30pm

TIA  :-[

Hi there, I think it's quite normal for babies to drop to two naps at 6 months.  It was a really good thing for my dd as her nighttime wakings disappeared once her catnap was gone.  But I often had to put her down to sleep around 6:00 pm when she first dropped the catnap.  She'd wake around 6:30am.

You should have a look at the sample easy routines in the EASY forum.  You'll get lots of good ideas there :)

I do feel for you  rinajack. It is very tiring to deal.

thitz, I have tried to put her to bed early she just wont sleep. She will get up and sit and babble, and crawl etc etc. Any way, I will try to put her to bed at 6pm and see how it goes today, will definitely update.

I have also posted a topic about her night waking.

Thanks.  Night waking are quick for us, involve no feeding, are teething related mostly.

But I am still confused about her naps, but with teething and stuff I think we are stuck following her lead for a bit.

Hope things are going well for you
