Hi
dd is 16 weeks (so nrly 4 months). We tried EASY at around 9wks but didn't really get going on it. Shes' a bit erratic, in that she has always woken 1-2 times at night. However, she developed a cold on Friday, and everything is going downhill! She normally goes to bed at 6.30pm. Friday she was unsettled till 8.30pm, then slept till 4am, fed, and slept again till 8am. Saturday she was up several times. Sunday a couple of times to feed. Since then, although the cold has pretty much gone, she has been waking every 1-2 hours overnight, but whereas before she would settle with a fedd or dummy she now will not settle for 1.5 hours, as if it were a daytime schedule. Her daytime naps have decreased from having one longer nap or 1.5-2 hours to only sleeping 45 mins at a time. Having some success over the past couple of days extending her naps as have blacked out her room, but the night time is falling apart! SHe is sleeping maybe 4-5 hours at most during the day. Feeding around 3 hourly. To compicate things I have just gone back to work this week, 2 mornings a week, and she is reluctant to take more than about 80-100 ml from the bottle for the feed when I am gone.
o compound things, my milk supply seems to be low, I am pumping to help it along, but whereas before I would have 100 mls in a matter of minutes from a single breast, I can struggle to get 50 mls from both.
Normally she is easy to get down for her sleeps, during the day and at bedtime, and although she has a dummy she spits it out once she falls asleep, and doesn't seem to be waking to look for it.
I want to get started on EASY, but not sure she is quite ready for the 4hour EASY. I think she's over her cold, so ready to get started. I am also wondering if this could be a growth spurt, and whether 4 hour EASY may then result in more night wakings. ALso if my supply is low, is starting 4 hours EASY a good idea? Finally, should we ditch the dummy, as it is v useful in getting her to fall asleep for her naps, and for extneding the daytime naps. I am also happier using it at night to try to avoid the feed-to-sleep association.
