thank u all so much, have been wlaking round of cloud nine ;)
UPDATE: for nap I knew he was very tired as we'd been at the park all morning ( well..I was tired LOL) so we went to room ,sat through one round of mobile and then i put him down, he seemed quick happy. I placed hand on back when he sat up and then he started to get all giggly and silly so i sat back on a chair the other side of the room and he chatted and sang for 40mins then went out like a light :o can u believe this is happening to us??????
I cannot express how happy i am! I do have a question though, 40mins is quite a long time do u think it'll get quicker or this is just how long it takes him to fall asleep even if he is really tired?
Tomorrow I will try to just leave after I have put him down...

am so so happy! This is i tried to do things exactly as I did yesterdaty, gave T bottle put him down, stood back , went to him when he cried out then said'just going to get ur cat' off I went, sat outside his room and he called out for just over 5mins (first Mumma then 'ahhhh' a few times but not crying) then I heard him shufle about and think he was asleep just before 8 so about 20mins in all!!!!!!

I cannot believe it HONESTLY I can't! :)
so at lunch time it took him an hr after 6hrs A time and at bedtime it took him 20mins after 4.5 hrs A time...do u think I need to tweak his routine or just leave thigns as they r ? from what I have read in other people's posts...most seem to find nap easier to fasll asleep for ??? (actually T did to when eh was being held to sleep by me)

Yeah, Michelle!  The difference I see between naps and night is that you stayed in his room for nap and you didn't at night.  I'd take that to mean that your being in the room is more of a problem than his being alone.  (You didn't take that the wrong way, right?   :-*)  Ryan will call out for me, but if he's not crying, I try to let him be.  This seems to cut the time down by A LOT!  If he's crying, you go to him...if not, I'd let him be.  He can obviously settle on his own.

WAY TO GO!!!  Perfect timing...you'll have a few good weeks to be confident of his abilities before Little Miss arrives.   :D

Michelle, I am so glad that things are going so well.

See how he goes with the nap times and perhaps move it slightly closer to even it a little, but tbh, if he went to sleep after 4.5 hour A time then things couldnt be that bad.  How long was the nap?

Dropping off might not get quicker you know, the main thing is that he can do it himself and doesn't need you to help him.  Let him work it out, no matter how long it takes.  Alex still has a cot party for and hour or so some nights.  Tonight was good, 40mins.

grrr just wrote out a whole reply and it got cancelled!
thanx for the input girls! Kate, I suspected this too about me in the room ::) he did forget i was there after 10 mins or so , so if it isnt what u suggested then maybe overtired?
mari, his naps have beedn2 hrs since thr sleep training so a few days: I have been waking him coz I dont want him to sleep longer than 3.30pm. Prob is he takes 1 hr to go to sleep, cant really get him into bed any earlier than 12.30. I'm hoping he'll get a bit quicker a t falling asleep for the nap.
We r still having EW . He wakes 5.45, yesterday he put himselfr back to sleep for 30mins. Today eh sounded really upset when he woke so i went in ang gave him calprofen...he went back to sleep till 8 when i woke him :o I'm thinking it's teething pain thatas making it hard for him to go back to sleeP? last 3 days i have given calprofen at 10.30 when i go to bed and he's woken 5.45...maybe when it wares off? what do u think?

Could be teeth, keep an eye on things and try not to give the calpbrufen for longer than 3 days. (it says on the bottle)

Alex still takes ages to fall asleep.  As long as he is able to do it, and not crying, but happy to be there, he will get better.
