Poor ds is getting very bored of Weetabix and toast :(

I struggle with pancakes b/c I'm not too good at making them :-[, and I'd also like to include at least one portion of fruit or veggies.

Can anyone suggest some good breakfasts?
Caroline :)

Woo loves rice crispies as he can feed himself with them as they tend to stick to the spoon lol... he also loves ready brek.

I have a habit of giving him cereal and then a small portion of fruit like strawberries or raspberries which he loves.

We just bought some fruit and cereal bars that Charlotte likes with a glass of milk.

Breakfast in our house for DD (who is a cereal fiend) is: Ready Brek, made qutie thick, drixxle honey over and cold milk as well, rarely weetabix, corn flakes, crunchy nut cornflakes (oh so healthy  ::)), cheerios, rice crispies, coco pops occasionally, but don't often buy them.

Very occasionally, DD will have toast - usually with only butter (did I mention she's a butter fiend as well?) but sometimes with honey.  But you could try grated cheese, cheese spread (primula is nice) jam, mashed banana.

How about traditional boiled egg and soldiers?

I know you said you like to give fruit as well, but he could have it mid-morning as a snack?

Colin's absolute favorite is oatmeal. He gets so excited when he sees it  ::)   Most days he has that with some fruit like orange, pear, or peaches. He also really likes scrambled eggs.

Have finally got DS to eat my breakfast after months of offering: half mix of Ready Brek and half mix of Seriously Oaty (other porridge but sweeter) with blueberries on top

We struggle here too.  Harry will only eat spready cheese on bread, and it HAS to be the crust!  Not fun on the 3rd morning.  Sometimes he will eat a piece of my toast or a spoonful of my cereal.  The other 2 have weetabix or porridge, usually after toast (mine  ::))
None of them will eat eggs or fruit in the morning.  weird!

Ryan is a waffle fiend.  He has a blueberry and a chocolate chip ( :-[) frozen toaster waffle with Lite syrup each day.  Used to each Cheerios, but not so much for the last month or so.  I usually try to give him a bit of fruit (cantelope, grapes, pineapple, whatever we've got cut up) or a soy sausage patty for some protein.

Waffles, scrambled egg with cheese, yogurt, pancakes, toast, cereal and smoothies are a big hit too.

Have a simple tasty pancake recipe made with Yoghurt - super yummy. They are also small (2inches in diameter) so perfect toddler size.

Mashed banana with Yoghurt.

I also make banana bran muffins which are so good I make adult portions for mummy too  ::)

i've been successful with whole hard-boiled eggs (DD is simply fascinated by them), scrambled eggs (chunky enough to eat with fingers), tomato slices with cottage cheese. chilled melon and watermelon chunks are great in this summer heat, just cut them up the night before to keep things easier in the morning. cut strawberries in half and let him dip them in yoghurt...there are so many fruits out there, you just have to keep trying out new ones. but don't stock up on one he seems to like or he'll just decide to hate it tomorrow:-)

the key is to avoid working harder on your kid's breakfast than he does!

good luck

I rotate through the following,

MOSTLY Weetbix with fruity raw muesli sprinkled on top (makes a huge difference to normal weetix and is a great way to improve weetbix without adding heaps of sugar).
SOMETIMES Fruity weetbix (less fibre than weetbix BUT better than most other highly sugared/low fibre cereals)
SOMETIMES wholemeal toast with banana and a little honey (drink of milk on the side for protein)
SOMETIMES Uncle Toby's flavoured porridge (I get one flavoured sachet and double it with rolled oats, so that it has less sugar but still lovely taste)
SATURDAY Scrambled eggs which I've FINALLY perfected! and wholemeal/grain toast

That way I only have to 'cook' a brekky once a week and everyone is happy with the variety.

Have you tried Muesli?  DD is very fussy and LOVES it.  Just granola - which is very easy to make - or store bought, mixed up with yogurt, if you let it sit for a few minutes it softens/sticks together a bit and isn't as messy.  I serve it in a cup with a handle (and a spoon) and she gobbles it up!!

The granola I make is full of dries fruit and I use friut yogurt so it all comes in one handy cup  ;)!!

I should try the Muesli myself - DD is a decent eater for other meals but really doesn't want breakfast most days! If I buy store bought just mix with yogurt?
