Hope he sleeps good for you! The motrin should help, and it lasts way longer than tylenol.

Oh, how I used to think all babies slept well all the time. My days before becomming a mother were ignorantly blissful :)

I wish I was blissfully ignorant...I have a brother 10 years younger who was TOUCHY...I remember his infancy well  :P

Just following along. I'm considering the cold turkey approach to 1 nap for my LO as well.

I think the motrin helped. He was still up a lot last night- probably every hour or so but settled much easier. I will give it to him again tonight. Now I also have a terrible sore throat so the little guy gave me his bug. No fun for either of us.

I'm going to give him the same nap schedule as yesterday until I know he's getting better sleep at night.

Shiv, have a great weekend trip! It sounds like a lot of fun.

MasynandSpencer, it must have been nice going into motherhood with realistic expectations! Having a brother so young must have been great training!

Thanks for all the help and getting me through this sickness!

Today's schedule:
A: 6:30 (DH accidentally woke him up while getting ready for work :( )
S: 10:00-11:15
S: 3:55-4:45
S: 9:00

Bedtime was post-poned a bit bc BILs wife had a baby! It's always something huh :). So not a normal night for us! Hopefully DS will sleep in tomorrow since DH doesnt have to work. I love Saturdays.

I'm going to continue with 2 nap days until DS starts getting better sleep at night. Hoping that is soon. He's definitely still sick. Then I'll try cold turkey once more!

oooh, congrats to your BIL's wife! A new baby is a good reason to stay up!! (and yes, there is always something  :P)

Hope you get to sleep in, my DH is at work this weekend, so none of that for me! Keeping 2 naps for now is the best idea until he's well again.

Oh, I forgot to ask... DS habitually wakes up every night at 10:30 - no matter what time I put him to bed. I'm going to try w2s with him but not sure at what time to do it? And for how many nights?

Today's schedule:

A: 7:00
S: 10:55-11:45
S: 3:20-4:20
S: 8:15

The holidays are killing any type of schedule we've had! Haha. I guess that's how it goes! I'm trying to enjoy it and not get all worked up about DS staying up late all the time. But I have to say that once the New Year begins, it's a new schedule for us! :) Oh, and 1 nap too :)

Looking good...my DH is all in a panic about the holidays, and really they will probably only be up late one night. He hasn't really noticed that Spencer is way more flexible than she used to be or that I can just let her have a super long nap to power her through.

Not sure about W2S, I think maybe 45min or 1 h ahead of the usual wake? That's what I did with Masyn, but she was 2.5 at the time and had got into a habit of waking at 10 pm because I had needed to give her medicine at that time!

I tried 30 minutes prior to his usual waking an he still woke up. I will try 45 tonight and if that doesn't work, an hour before the next night.

DS slept GREAT. Only NW was at 10:30pm. He slept until 7:45am without even as much as a fuss last night. He's still got a terrible cold so I am guessing it was a one night thing :)

I think I'm going to continue with 2 naps through the holidays bc I'm sure he will be OT from staying up late most of the time. Plus, we are traveling to see family in 3 days. DS has never slept well at my parents (or away from home for that matter). We return after the new year. Should I stop this thread and start a new one again when I retry the 1 nap thing? Or just come back on here and pick up where I left off?

Oh, great night! Hopefully wasn't a one off! and that he sleeps okay on your trip! If you start a new thread you might get some more eyes on it and you can always post a link here so that anyone who was reading this one can pickup where you left off!

That's a great idea. I'll come back in a week or two if I'm not able to work things out myself :) I have learned so much already from this thread and following other women. I really hope I can work it out.

Was changing DSs diaper today and saw a new tooth! Wasn't there yesterday! I also noticed his bottom gums were swollen everywhere. Looks like there are more to come. Is it ok to do the 2-1 transition while your LO is teething? I know they tend to need more sleep but at the same time, he'll probably be getting teeth for the next year, right?! :)

Thank you to everyone for all your wisdom and time! Let's hope you don't hear back from me :)

Yup, really seems that way sometimes...I've been waithing months for Spencer's canines to appear, and by the time they do we'll be on to 2nd year molars!!!  Teething made my kids crabby, but never really affected sleep (as in needing more) but I know it does for lots of kids.

Let's hope you don't hear back from me :)

Well, not on this thread anyways...no news is good news right?  :)  Have a great time on holiday, and try not to stress too much over his sleep (hard I know...)  :-*

Only back and catching up!!

Enjoy your hols and agree with Heidi, try not to stress too much about sleep over the hols.  You'll get back on track in the New Year and hopfully all the sniffles and teeth will be done for a while!!
