Just dropping by with some get better vibes for K and some (HUGS) for you! We had gross NW last night too after a perfect day...think ours were teeth related though.

Hi all,

I havent posted for a while as Katelyn was poorly and ended up in hospital (nothing too serious). Her routine is all over the place at the mo! I think we are deffo heading to the 2:1 but I'm not sure what to do now. She's not going to sleep till gone 9.30pm sometimes later! She's in her room in total darkness chattering away to herself! Some days I wake her earlier (if i'm at work) so the routine changes slightly.

Here's her EASY today -

7.45 - Awake
10.00 - Nap1
10.30 - Awake (I woke her)
2.10 - Nap 2
3.35 - Awake (Woke her again)

The 2 previous days she refused her morning nap and ended up having a 45 minute afternoon nap.

Any ideas? I'm not sure if she's ready for the 1 nap or not and if so at what time to put her down for it x x x

Hi hun, aww poor K being in hospital, hope she is ok now? As for your routine... I think you could try pushing her morning nap later now so that she is doing a longer A time in the morning, especially if she has refused it recently. I would try just an extra 15 mins every few days. You can then shorten the nap too, so to maybe 20 mins. When you say she isn't going to bed until 9.30 is that after waking up from a 1.5h nap at 3.30? If so, how is she at BT? Does she seem happy or is she crying and OT?

She's got 6 teeth now and getting over yet another cold!

We had a really bad night lastnight, she was very restless!!! She was awake every hour until 2.30am!

If i push her A time by 15 mins every day or so wont this make her longer PM nap later?  ???

She appears full of beans at bedtime to be honest! We start her bottle at 7pm but she's nattering to herself for ages after that! x x x

The idea is to push the nap out but also shorten it so it ends at the same time anyway iygwim? So a 30 min nap starting at 10am would end at 10.30, you change to a 20 min nap at 10.10am so it still ends at 10.30. You can also shorten her A time to her pm nap by this amount too as your DD will likely be more tired quickly after a shorter am nap. So her pm nap might be at 2pm and she will hopefully tag the lost am sleep on to this pm nap. Does that make sense?

So for BT is she doing a 6h A time from her pm nap? That is long and I would think she is probably OT which can cause BT refusal, so could be your issue. What do you think? Does she seem OT or not? Have you given pain meds for the teeth and cold?

That makes sense, thank you :)

It could be OT or maybe UT, I'm really not sure! We put her in her cot at 7.30 and she's just really active! I am wondering if teeth may be the issue and the fact that she's on antibiotics (just guessing)

We've given her pain meds tonight, bless her x x x

Aww well I hope with pain meds she does a good night for you. I would really think that if K is doing such a long A time to BT that would cause OT, some babies are still happy when OT. C doesn't seem to suffer now she is older but she used to get really hyper and excited when she was OT. Have you tried putting her down earlier for BT?

The idea with pushing the morning nap later is that it gets closer to lunchtime and that you can eventually cut it out and bring the pm nap forward and just have one nap. I would just make sure that you let her tag the lost morning sleep on to her pm sleep if she can. Then you are encouraging one long nap for when the time comes to drop to one nap. HTHs.
