Annie,

Another daft suggest maybe but can you ever get Bear back down when he wakes at 1hr 15/20 from his naps ? Bubba did today and he sounded so upset (I was feeding Pasha at the time and she's greedy with her refluxing and all....didn't want to stop...) that I actually went in (we shut his door firmly when we leave as a sure sign we mean to leave...you asked recently). I picked him up and cuddled him standing, sang Twinkle Twinkle, asked his he wanted bubbyes (sp ?) and he pointed at his crib so in he went. He slept another hr 10 after that (till 2.40pm and fought bedtime with talking in his crib for the first time in yonks !).

I know you've said he doesn't like cuddles too much and our boy is pretty similar but he does allow cuddles if he wants sleep. I don't hang around too long, just a quick cuddle put him down and leave again (fingers crossed, saying all sorts of made-up prayers etc). Sometimes, like today, it works.

Just a thought. So desperately want you out of this rut. I miss you !

BTW, yes, our present is v.crappy but we now have Pepcid thanks to a darling helpful pharmacist. I've been pretty well done in listening to Pasha's screams and cries before sleeps so I KNOW how tired/on-edge you must feel. Never been so wobbly in all my (MANY !) years....

(((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) from over the sea.

MWAH to that amazing boy of yours. 9 is my favourite number too !!

Alrighty, so what if you try a 2 nap day like this: if he's getting fussy at 8am, put him down for a nap THEN.  Don't hesitate if he's showing cranky & tired signs.  THEN see how long he sleeps and we'll figure out the time for a second catnap.  I know he's probably already down for the night tonight, right?  So IF you feel like it, try it tomorrow and let me know, I'll be around between 11am and 12pm if you need to call, then after 2:30pm for the rest of the day...I figure, what the heck.  He's already all over the place could we make it worse??  LOL of course we could, but what we've been trying hasn't worked so maybe time to try something else??

MWAH

Both are excellent suggests, girls.

May try them both tomorrow if I have the guts.

So glad to have such brilliant girls with such excellent ideas in our corner!!

Hey it's a cribside party! Annie my doll, I have done the too-late bedtime many times, thinking @#%!@%$ why didn't I get her down at 6, what was I doing that was SOOOO important, and knowing I will have an OT baby the next day. It sucks and I've SO been there, I think we all have. :)

I like Kat's 2 nap idea, so crazy it just might work. Gosh I feel like Thelma and Louise--9 p.m.--so risky but heck! We're crazy! We shoot for the fences! :D :D

I do like car naps for situations when I'm trying to squeeze in an extra nap but I don't want her to get TOO much sleep. I hate waking her from naps at home because she's a huge grump, but in the car she wakes up naturally when we stop so I can get 15-20 minutes pretty easily.

Thanks for checking in MALS,  :-*!

OK, I don't know if I've mentioned this to you all before, but Bear NEVER sleeps in the car/stroller/barely ever in the rocker with me (to much to see/ do in all those scenarios, I guess  ::) for such a spirited little boy).  It's cribber or nada.  It would be a lovely idea, though.  I'm often jealous when I hear you've done that.  It's brilliant.

Alright, so call me THELMA!!

Maybe I'll pop him in the crib extra early if he gets cranky at 8am!!   :-X

Now watch, today, he won't...... :)

xxxxxxxxx's and zzzzzzzzzzzzz's (hopefully)

Good MORNING Annielm!!!!  Waffles again this morning, altho I'm still hungry so not sure what will be next...  ;)

Yes I remember you saying he never sleeps outta the crib...what about APing?  Like rocking him or having him in your bed?  I know lots of BW Mommas (myself included) that have been successful by APing until the LO is caught up a bit, just to get over that hump.

And Tracy always advocates going by cues, which is why I suggest the 8am nap...if he's getting cranky it could be a good time to try a nap - and he probably won't permanently need a nap then but you could get him sorted out and then back on a solid routine.  If you think he's like B and needs a shorter A time in the morning, if you could get his wake times later and give him one nap early in the day you'll be good as gold!  :)  (I know, too many "ifs" in that sentence... ::))

Hi KAT!!

Why don't you try ice cream squished BETWEEN two toasted waffles?? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  That'll satiate you for sure!!

KAT, There is NO APing this boy.  He does not want a pacifier, a bottle, to be rocked, to sleep in the car, or even me in the room if he is going to get to sleep.  He loves to sing himself to sleep when I get the timing right.  I WISH I could find a way to AP him, I would have been doing it for months.  He sobbed when I brought him into me and DH's bed yesterday.  Sobbed like it was on fire.  You know.  ::)

Anyway, I'm going to watch his cues this am, he woke up fussy.  Yesterday, I put him in the crib as soon as I saw an eye rub (we've started with those again).  That was when he sang for 45 minutes and then slept an hour and 20.

Oh, I'm really boring myself.  :-[

I'll let you know if two naps is a go!!!!

Waffles and ice cream for you, darling!!  ;D

Oh PS, girls.  He was asleep by 6:30pm, awake at 5:15am.  I think he tried to go back out a little longer.  Like ten minutes or so.

He's been asleep since 10:40am.  Of course no tired signs today at all at 8am.  ;D

He's actually pretty good today, except for a meltdown at the 5 hour a-time mark, so to the crib!!  I really thought it was a big mistake because he was TICKED OFF to say the least when I put him in the crib. Asleep 10 minutes later, though, no problems.  ???

Keeps me guessing.

So, maybe give him one or two more days of early naps like this and then I can try the catnap thingy.....to push bedtime forward........

Yes??

How're ya feeling girlie??  8)

It's worth a try and see...I'm wondering if he was already at meltdown stage by 10:40, could he have maybe been earlier a bit later?  Does he meltdown when he's already past being ready for a nap or when he's winding up to go down?

OK, so yesterday:

3 hour nap, and THEN

11 1/2 at night, waking at 6:20am!!!  ;D ;D ;D

EXCELLENT mood this am for the first hour, then it fell apart slowly.  Of course I was in the grocery store with him, so I couldn't exactly pop him in the crib. :-\

He was in the crib by 11:05am (still under 5 hours a-time!!  BUT  a much better time for a nap than 10:20am imo!!!!).

He's singing away in there, we'll see what happens.  Wonder why so grouchy after such a good day yesterday.

LAYLA??  You ok, or just busy with all the mod duties??  Hope all's well!  :)

11:35am asleep.  12:55pm awake.

He's grouchy already, I can hear it.

It's like yesterday never even happened.  :P

Is it too much to ask for two days in a row?????

5:45 bedtime, I guess.  ::) I was hoping to move it forward to 6pm, at least after a nice long snooze........
