Leslie I also had a "blip" yesterday, Leorah's Great Gran who she adores was around but L wouldn't play with her and was miserable and tantrumy, I had found it really hard to wake her in the morning so presumed she was tired - big mistake- I put her for her nap 15 mins early and she played and talked for nearly 40 mins which meant I had to wake her at 1 hr20 mins to preserve bedtime. From now on I am just going to stick with her A times and hope that one bad nap doesn't escalate into any thing more than that.

How did your nap and night go?

Can anybody help with our latest struggle?

M has taken 1 hour 15 min naps at least 2x this week, despite the same A time pre nap.  On those days, she typically takes longer to get to bed, and then is up at night at least once.  She's been up for about 1.5 hours or so, and it's like she falls asleep for 10 mins and then wakes.  This goes on for however long she's awake.

Today she was up from 4:08am-5:25am, and then up for the day at 6:08am.

???

Anybody?

The last 3 days, we've had OT naps- 1 hour 20 mins (put down too late by sitter), 1 hour 20 mins + 15 mins, and 55 mins yesterday.  I'm not sure if the car alarm right outside her window 10 mins before she woke yesterday affected her.

Do I continue to aim for the same A time pre nap?

Hey Leslie,
Am not fully up on the ins and outs of M's sleep over recent weeks, but if it were me I would bring nap forward 15 mins and bedtime forward 30 mins (i.e. shorten each A time by 15 mins) for a few days.
Sorry to hear that your period of rest didn't last so long :(

Laura!!!  So nice to hear from you  :-*

It seems M does better when we increase her A time- it's like she needs to get past the OT to get into a deep sleep.  Otherwise the cycle continues-

She slept 1 hour 10 mins today, so I guess tomorrow I'll push her a little longer.

Hi Leslie and Laura  :) I agree with the longer A too Leslie, it seems if leorah is a tiny bit OT she takes a short nap but if she is pushed to almost the edge and has her horrible OT laugh on the way to nap she ends up doing a longer nap, so strange  :-\

Well, 1 hour 20 min nap today.  Do I keep extending A time, or leave it for a few days?

OMG- she was up for almost 4 hours last night!  She did vomit right before she went to sleep, but her NW was clapping and throwing her teddy bear out of her crib.  I think she got about 7 hours sleep total last night.

Do I aim for the same A time pre nap, or less?

Oh no, if she vomitted I'd say she is sick, I would cut down the A time but I am not sure by how much  :-\ I hope someone else will come along and help, how does she seem today?

Hi Leslie, ladies ;-)
I would just follow her lead today if you can, not only could she be unwell, after 7hrs night sleep she is going to be all over the road like dog doo!
All bets are off her I'm afraid leslie, your most likely going to be back in OT land for a while.

(is my computer going screwy or is the bw site a bit buggered today, I seem to be in some plain text version of the site )

Did I ever LEAVE OT land?

Should I continue to go by A time or a little less for the next few days?

hope someone else has the answer leslie, sorry mate I wouldn't like to say.

had M got to a point where she wasn't acting ready for nap at 4-5hrs which was misleading you into putting her down early.  Can you trust her tired cues enough for next few days to follow her lead?  If not I would cut A times just a bit and see what happens.

Just know that when she is better again you can get back to where you where with consistency, you've done it once it can be done again.
