She woke up at 7:25a, so she slept another hour.
At 9:00a she started yawning and rubbing her eyes, so I got her in her crib by 9:10, she babbled and was out by 9:20 - so awake for 1 hr 55min.
She only slept for 53 minutes, so either was that all the sleep she needed this morning or perhaps she was UT? I was afraid of her getting OT, so I put her down as soon as I saw the signs!
I did hear her stir at the 45 min mark, but she went back to sleep - only for 8 more min. Perhaps she was not tired enough to keep sleeping? It is so hard to tell!
Especially since she did go back to sleep this morning.
I feel like I am the worst mom - never getting it quite right!

Don't say that!!!  The worst mom ever would not care whether or not they got it right at all!!!  You atleast watch your child and read her cues!  Don't be hard onyourself... It sounds like you are doing wonderfully!

There are mornings when Stan just won't take a nap longer then 45min.  His dad is usually home and he must smell him or something ;)  I can't force him to have a good nap but whether we catch up on sleep the rest of the day or not there is always tomorrow...

dh kindof hope ds will wake after 45min bc he wants to play with him... it works out for them... I just try to keep the stimulation down for the rest of the day when it happens.

Good to know. My LO is on her third nap right now - and I hope it is a good one. Her first two were 50-55min, but she had that extra hour of sleep this morning, so I hope it all evens out. We'll see!

Her third nap was just under 50 min and she woke at quarter to 5. We put her to bed at 6:30. So again with her typical 11 hour sleep, she'll probably be up around 5:30. I wish I could push it later! But sometimes putting her to bed at 6:30 seems like a stretch! Will it just get later over time? Even when she has long naps, he day always seems to end around 6:30. she needs a longer A time in the am, but she can't handle it yet. Any other thoughts?

I agree with Heather in that some babies are just early risers. The best you can do is to just not encourage it.  If you do find that you can get her to go back to sleep until 7:25 or so then try to push everything back so bedtime is a little later. If you know that she sleeps 11 hours at night work with that knowledge.
You are NOT a bad mom.

Thanks a bunch!

This morning she babbled at 4:20am for a while, and fell asleep. Then she woke at 5:20a - babbled for 25 minutes which turned into calling. I was unsure of whether to go in and feed her or not, but I did. She only ate for 10 minutes and was more interested in looking around the room. Her room is darkened, but I have her door open a crack so I can see what I am doing!
So I put her back to bed. She complained a bit, but fell back asleep after 20 minutes. I do know that her naps will be shorter today since she went back to sleep, but I guess that's ok.

My question is - I know I should have let her go longer this morning, but if I did, and she did not go back to sleep, and I ffe her around 6:15a instead, and then put her back to bed we'd start the day around 8am. Is that silly to try and do?

nope.... it you want her to kind of shift her schedule later it never hurts to try to do that... it does sound like that's what you are doing eh?

It might make that particular day bad... bad naps cranky babe etc... but I don't think it would hurt to try it for a day or two.  Just remember that the day of will be off and so will your lo so don't stop just because the first day was bad... keep at it atleast another two days... if it doesn't work then you know she just wants to be up before the sun... :)

man, I can't remember when I was able to NOT see a sunrise! lol

I am trying to switch her schedule. I have tried several times, but what happens is her first nap ends up being short, and I have an OT baby on my hands for the rest of the day, which means an early bedtime, and around and around we go. UGH.
Her nap this morning was only 30 minutes and I put her down at the 2 hour mark like always. I just can't win!

Hugs...
It is fine to slowly try to change the routine but maybe going from 6 to 8 is too big of a jump.  Here is what I would do.  If she wakes and you can give her a short feed and get her to go back to sleep I would wake her at say 7.  So if you feed at 5:45 and then she babbles a bit and falls asleep don't let her sleep till she wakes you wake her when you want the day to start.  Make sense?  This way you disrupt that extra sleep which should cause her to take a longer am nap because she is tired.  It might take some playing with and will certainly take some patience and like Heather said, some babies just have a routine and it can't be changed that much.

Makes sense to me! Thank you.

I just want to make sure that by starting the day at 6am one day, but putting her back to sleep the next (because she woke before 6am) won't mess up her internal clock?

no... I don't think it would... There is always something that gets them back on track.  Sometimes it's a short nap or a long nap... one of those heavenly days when they sleep in later about 45mins... it seems Stan is always able to get back to his usual wake up time... even if it means an extra catnap like it did today! :)

Well we had a really good day yesterday, so I am not sure why we still had an EW. I'll see if I can explain.

My LO woke up yesterday at 6am, went to bed a little before 7pm, had 3 decent naps, and STILL woke up at 4:30am, fell asleep, woke at 5:00, fell asleep, woke at 5:30 babbled turned into crying, so I went in and fed her, and put her back to bed. After 15 more minutes she started crying again so I went in and fed her some more, and put her back to bed.  She mantra cried for 15 more minutes and finally fell asleep at 6:45a. I will go wake her at 7:30 if she does not wake on her own before then.
I am not really even sure if she was hungry, or wanted to simply get up, but it looks like she finally got the message. Perhaps I am going to have to do this for a few mornings - or change something else? I don't know. But otherwise her first nap would have been at 7:15a - which seems silly - that's wake up time, not nap time!
She is typically an 11 hour a night sleeper - other than waking up to babble and sometimes for a feed.

So here is or routine from yesterday:

6:00a – wake
6:15a – nurse then A time
7:10a – solids then more A time
7:52a – in crib
8:07a – asleep (awake 2 hrs, 7 min)
9:29a – awake, (nap = 1 hr 22 min)
10:00a – nurse then A time
11:41a – in crib (@ 2 hrs 12 min)
11:50a – asleep (Awake 2 hours 20 min)
12:20p – awake – oh no! only 25 min..... BUT
12:40p – asleep again
1:45p – awake (total sleep = 1 hr 35 min)
2:00p – feed then A time
3:52p – IN crib (2 hrs 7 min)
4:07p – asleep (Awake 2 hrs 22 min)
4:49p – awake (slept 42 min) A time
5:15p – snack, walk outside in stroller
5:50p – bath
6:10p – final feed
6:55p – asleep

Am I doing somethinig wrong The only blip I see is her waking in the middle of her nap, at 25 min, so perhaps she was a little OT, but she went back to sleep after babbling for 20 min.
Also, as I mentioned she is an 11 hour a night sleeper, so her days tend to be 13 hours, which perhaps is long, but that's the way she is!
AARRGGHH!

I am stumped! ??? All I can think is that she is hungry?  Did she stop eating or did you stop her from eating early in the morning?  I know those ew are a pain and hugs to you... I'm sorry I don't have too much advice :(
