Thanks about the weaning....Cooper again asked for it last night during the bedtime routine.....but I stayed firm in saying that it went bye bye!

Well, WIWO went great for me, then DH got home and I guess totally forgot the fact that we were trying to get back to sleeping correctly this weekend and did APing!  UGH! Those DH! ;)  Anyhow, Cooper had a great nap yesterday (a little over 2 and a half hours!)...so we went for a 7:30 bedtime as usual.  Cooper had one accident that required changing the bedding at 11 then went back to sleep till 4:40.....I should leave it at that!

Needless to say, we're back to an EW this morning and I'm now needing to re-teach DH how to do WIWO and stay firm on doing it no matter what and I'm having to retrain sleeping through the night!

PRAY FOR ME!  ;)

I find it amazing that on the nights that we tell Cooper that we will not be doing APing type things for his NW's, there end up being NO NW's!!!!  I won't complain though  ;)  But Cooper slept through the night last night.

Actually I have to brag because I am just so proud of myself right now....I'm sure I'll have to remind myself of this one great things when things go to crap later on ;)  Yesterday DS was SO tired from being up early and we had company coming over.  So at 9:45 we put him down folr a power nap...he went down very easily and got into a hard sleep.  But we woke him at 10:15 since we still wanted our pm nap.  He was a little upset, but it worked out.  So then 1:15 came around and he went down for his pm nap and slept till 3:15!!!!  I was SO happy....that got us back to our routine that was working so well last week.

Today seems good so far....DS slept till 7 (only because DH was a little noisy leaving for work this morning), but is now down for a nap...I pray it's another 2 hour one!

Well it's gone to crap!  ;)  Naps at least!  DS has actually been doing GREAT with going to sleep and STTN with the few wakings, but then he's right back asleep.  Naps though the last 2 days have only been 1.5.  I know most moms would be happy about that....but ugh I LOVE 2 hr naps!  We're doing an early bedtime (7) tonight and I'm thinking I'll just HAVE to watch A times tomorrow and see how he does.

As much as I hate to say this.....at 18 mos, most mums notice that the naps decrease to 1.5 ish hrs....I hate that thought, as I can still get 2+ hours most days from ABby, but I know those days are numbered...so it's possible that's what's happening with you too....*ducking* as you throw things are your computer ;)

Ehhh...I can't throw anything at the computer, I can't afford to break it!  ;)

You know, I just wrote DH and email expressing my frustration with this whole thing!  We had just gotten into a great routine and now these dang changes again.  It's no surprise to me that DS is changing his routine right on time as at 8 months he dropped his 3rd nap like most 9 month olds do.

I guess it's just frustrating because I'm trying to help him out, but then when he doesn't sleep well it back fires on me with his tantrums from being tired.

I've gone back to my decision to stick with 7:30 bedtimes no matter what and I think from now on it will also be 12:45-1 nap time no matter what.  He will either adjust properly or we'll deal with a cranky kid because I think I'd rather deal with that then a stressed out mom + cranky kid!

Some days I think that I'm ready for him to not need naps at all...but then I get back to the reality of LOVING the break (even if it's not a full 2 hours!).

Off to get Cooper out of his crib (he only napped for an hour today....it should be an interesting rest of the week!).

he's been doing the switch long enough he's probably fine with a set bedtime and nap window.  Abby's nap is almost always between 12:45 - 1:00, unless we're out, I know I can get away with the occasional 1:30 naptime.  and bedtime is always 7:30/8 now.  Somedays she naps 1.5 hr, some days it's 3 - I have no clue why, I just try to roll with it as best I can :)  If she naps less than 1.5 hrs, I know the afternoon will not be pretty, so I plan to get out in the stroller if at all possible.  Hang in there!!  I think you're doing a great job!!!

totally agree.... ;)  Today Cooper ended up taking a good almost 2 hour nap!  The bad part...I had to get him up and couldn't let him just rest in there when he did wake up because I had a Dr's Appt!  But hey at least he slept from 1-3!

YAY for a great nap!!!  And isn't it always on the day you have to be somewhere so you have to wake him?!  That's the way it works here....

I know it!  He's been doing great though at night...even if he wakes, he puts himself right back to sleep!  The last two mornings he's woken early do to bowel movements!  So we're trying juice during the day to help move his poo out!  He's been down for an hour and forty minutes so far....I think we might make it to 2 hours! ;)

So I thought the EW's were from the bowel movements, but this morning DS was up at 5:30 again.  Some times he would get quiet as if he went back to sleep.  I went in there and told him to go back to sleep, but of course that just made him more upset.

Yesterday's nap was great (2 hours), and he goes down so well at 1....but do you think I'm keeping him up too long in the am before his nap.  OR do you think I should try pushing his bedtime to 8 since the whole "less sleep required" seems to be knocking at our door a lot?

This is his current schedule from the past few days:

W - 5:30 (sometimes resettles till 6:30)
Nap - 1-3
Bedtime 7:30

Last night he talked in his crib till about 7:50 so I was thinking that tonight I could try pushign his bedtime to 7:45?

What do you think?

Been following . Honestly I think your nap is too late. Ds is more or less the same age and just last week I have figured out that his optimal wake up time is about 5 hours 40 mins maximum 6 in the morning and it is shorter in the pm. On days when he wakes 6 to 6.30 then nap time is  12 or 12.15 and if he wakes at 7 it is 12.45 pm and we usually get a 2 hour nap, in fact today I had to wake him at 2.40 pm. Bed time is around 7.20 maximum 7.30 pm. Since I figured out his exact wake time in the am, his night sleep has gotten better, before he would chat when he went to bed at night despite having a 2 hour 15 nap and waking at the same time, 2.30 ish, now he stays quiet and give one quick shout before he goes to sleep at about 7.40 pm.

I completely agree...and thanks for posting!

Before (just last week) we were doing fine with 7-7:30 wake up times....then it went back to EW's!  I don't know if the last molar is coming in now or if it's the eye teeth now.  I know that DS can handle about 5.5 to 6 hours of A time in the am and then he sleeps till 3 and bedtime is at 7:30.  I think the EW's are either from the teeth or him not needing as much sleep (18 month old transition).  I put him down at 6 hours of A time today....hopefully he'll nap till 3 still to make up for lost time....then have an active pm for a great bedtime tonight.

Tonight we're trying 7:45 for sure I think.
