((hugs))  Wh  Hopefully time will tell about what is going on.   It just has to be teething.   That is one hell of a long NW.

I can't believe you have to go to work for a full day, you must be shattered.   Is there any way you can sneak in a nap or a rest?

I agree it sounds like teeth, it's a great plan to give meds before bed and then a top up, you will really know then  ;)

Oh Paula I do feel for you!

We've been having similar now - which I am putting down to the final set of molars - and we had something similar at your DDs age which I think was canines....  at least I am blaming it on teeth as I can't think of anything else!

Katie has never been a GREAT sleeper - but not usually this bad!

I've been doing max doses of ibuprofen and paracetamol before bed, plus teething gel, and giving more if she wakes. It's horrendous trying to focus on work when you've been up half the night isn't it!  I eat my tea with Katie at 6pm and go to bed as soon as she does at 8pm....

Hope things sort out for you soon!

xx

I know we touched on this in a different thread, but it really does sound like teething to me.  During the day, it might  not affect her as much since she is occupied, but in the night, it might really hit her.

Hello ladies,

Not a good update  :'( She was up from 2:30 and only went back to sleep at 6:00am this morning.  I am sooooo tired I don't know what to do with myself.  Top up meds did not work.

LOL Eloise, I wish I could sneek a nap in at work that would be great ;D

Hugs Bryony, I am sorry you are going through such a rough time too.  Yes, it is awful having to go to work when they have been up so much in the night.

Kirry she woke up and was crying / moaning, went in to check on her, gave her pain meds and teething gel.  She moaned on and off, and when she cried I went in.  Towards 4:30ish she started shouting and babbling and then 5:30ish she started mantra crying before she fell asleep again.

She generally wakes between 7:30 / 8:00am.  Bedtime is generally around 7:15ish - we do an earlier bedtime cause her naps in nursery are not very long - generally an hour to hour and a half.

Yesterday, she woke at 7:30, napped from 12:30 - 2:00 - Bedtime was 7:15 - she was alseep by 7:30.

i'd be guessing pain or discomfort then? as if she needed more A time wouldnt she be happier???

is she waking around the same time each morning? maybe set an alarm to give her pain meds around an hour before she is waking to see if that makes a difference (maybe DH could do that one :P). stacy said something on charmie's post that pain can still bother them (even medicated) in the earlier hours of the morning as they are in a lighter stage of sleep.

Oh my, that definitely sounds like discomfort.  Have you had the ped check her out to make sure there isn't an ear infection? Sometimes an ear infection will seem like tooth pain, but since you're not seeing any other teething signs it sure does make me wonder....

I think my next step would be to take her into the pediatrician for a check-up.  I might also be willing to give some Benedryl at one of those NWs and see if that just makes her drowsy enough to sleep.  :-[  Realize not everyone is willing to do this, but YOU are so tired and SHE is so tired, that one dose of Benedryl to help mama and DD sleep seems like a lesser evil, you know?

I am also having issues with my once champion sleeper who has been on EASY since birth and it is to the point where I have lost all control. He is 19 months and was once on the same schedule as many toddlers his age.

730am - awake
130pm - 330pm - nap
8-830 pm - bedtime

And he would sleep all night long or occasionally wake up and fuss for a few seconds and then fall back to sleep on his own. But for the last 2 weeks he has been waking up every couple of hours and is up in the morning between 5-6 am. When he wakes up, he screams until we go in there and calm him down. After the first week of this we tried letting him cry a bit to see if he would fall back to asleep alone. Instead, he vomited everywhere. He is not teething and I took him to the doctor to make sure he didn't have an ear infection or anything like that. I also tried to put him in bed with us thinking that it was separation anxiety and that didn't work either. But now, I am at my wits end. I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and need the sleep I am not getting. I am the first in my group of friends to have kids so I don't have anyone to ask for advice. Has anyone experienced anything similar at this age or have any suggestions for me? I know that what I am doing (going in to comfort him and putting him back to sleep) is not helping and is probably making things worse because he is starting to depend on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello ladies,

Well I changed quite a few things last night before putting DD to bed as I did not want to take any chances.
- Took wind chime down from outside the garden
- Put DD is cooler PJ's incase she was too warm
- Gave pain meds before bed
- Gave her weetabix after her milk to ensure she was full to the brim.

She fell asleep within about 10 minutes after putting her down.  Had a little winge but went straight to sleep.  I had intended to give her pain meds before I went to bed, but I fell asleep at 9:00pm, so that went out the window.

She did wake quite a few times in the night, but settled really quickly when I went in there.  I did give her pain meds on one of the wake ups, so all in all a better night than usual, even if she woke about 5 times  :-\

I am thinking teeth more and more too.  When she woke, she refused her milk as well as her brekkie.  Nursery said that she had a piece of toast but did refuse her lunch too.  Her throat is a bit red, but this generally happens when teething so think you ladies are definitely onto something.

She did not nap at all today.  Nursery said one of the kids were playing up and none of them napped :-\  As we got home she closed her eyes, but did not sleep, I put her to bed just after 6 and she was asleep before 6:30pm.  She has not eaten much today, so am hoping that she does not wake out of hunger.  Fingers crossed.

Becky, I did take her to the docs today, just to make sure, he said that her throat is a bit red, but that her ears were clear.  He said if she seems in discomfor with her teeth to keep on rotating the paracetamol / nurofen.

Hello BNE, welcome to the BW website.  I am sorry you are going through similar issues.  Could your lo perhaps be teething, my DD has not shown any signs of actually teething, but now with the sore throat and refusal to eat, I know that she is definitley teething.  As pp have said, it is not just the teeth cutting through the gums, but actually them moving up in the gums which can cause them quite a lot of discomfort.

Also I see you do 6 hours A time before nap and then 5 - 5.5 hours before bedtime.  Have you tried getting your lo down to nap a little earlier, as your lo could be getting a little OT.  Just thinking out loud here.

Paula, glad to hear she didn't have the monster long NW last night.  Hopefully tonight does smoothly too.  James cut a molar about two weeks ago and was doing a 4:30am wake up, I would redose the meds and he would go back to sleep.  Last night he did the same thing so I think another molar might pop through soon.    Are you going to try to give her more meds before you go to bed tonight?

Hugs Natalie, sorry James is suffering with his molars.

Yes, I am definitely try and give her some meds before I go to sleep.  Fingers crossed she does not have a bad night especially with her not having a nap today.

Before all these issues, if she refused a nap she would make up for it at night and generally do a 13.5 - 14 hour night, but I am not so sure with all the probs we are having  :-\
