Yay - she has been sleeping her naps with no swaddle for the last 2 days and slept well.  She woke yesterday morning but went back to sleep herself after 5 mins!!  And then in the afternoon she slept 2hrs and I had to wake her.  So I have officially ditched the swaddle  ;D.  Its just in time as it is mega hot in the UK just now and really too hot to swaddle.

Hope all is well with you  :)

That's soooooo great!!  :)  Well done!

We're doing okay. My DD has been throwing up more over the past 1.5 month or so and the doctor said it was because her mobility was getting better and she was moving around more. But it hasn't improved at all and she has been coughing a lot so we went to the doctor again.  Apparently she has a mild case of reflux which is also causing the coughing because the stomach acid is irritating her throat.  Luckily she's not showing any signs of pain or discomfort.

I got a 1h20 nap yesterday and she was tired much sooner after that although I thought she would handle her normal A time.  So that could mean she was a little OT?

Axelle is also moving around in bed, usually ending up at the top op the bed.  :)

Awwww your pic is gorgeous!!  What a cutie  ;D.  She has lots of hair!!  I love babies with lots of hair!!

I think if she was struggling with her normal A time following that nap, it could be OT.  Is she teething?  I know Holly went through a stage at the same age of really short A times which coincided with her bottom 2 teeth coming through (I didnt realise at the time though  ::))  Im sure a 1hr20 nap is classed as a full nap but I dont know what they mean (OT/UT).  If you find out, let me know!!  She seems to only take 1hr10-1hr25 naps in the morning but then nice long naps in afternoon (Im not complaining - anything longer than 45 mins still surprises me!!).  Actually, I did notice that for a while she was doing longer A's but she started giving me tired signer earlier so we are doing less A time than a month ago  ???.  She is at about 3-3hr10.  So maybe your LO is a bit OT.  What A time is she having just now?

I hope she gets the reflux sorted soon!!  We still have to put meds in her bottle and it makes her sooooo constipated (especially since starting solids) but I tried to go without it yesterday and she was sick everywhere!!  I can't wait til she grows out of it.

Thank you!  ;D

Well, she was able to handle little over 3h of A time, but they have shortened again.  Last Friday she wasn't allowed to go to daycare because of an infection in her mouth (don't know the name in English, some kind of fungus or something) and Monday there was a holiday, so I had 4 days to figure out her A times.  Turns out she's able to do about 2h45 in the morning, about 3h10 after that if she has a 1h30 nap.  After that it's not always the same.  If she has a good nap she's able to go without catnap, but after that 1h20 she still needed one.
In daycare it's different because I think she tires more easily over there.  Much more to see, more stimulation,...

Maybe she's teething, but I can't see anything yet.  She hasn't been eating well over the past 2 days and she's a little grumpier than usual, so maybe...  She'll be 6 mo old on Sunday.  :o  Already 6 mo!!! :)

For the reflux I add something to her bottles to thicken it a little bit, not giving meds just yet.  I'm a little afraid of the side effects, like the constipation with your LO.  Prunes baby!  ;)

Heehee - I give her prunes most mornings!!  She loves them and they do help "speed things up"  ;)

My LO was grumpy, off her food, and doing shorter A times for about 4 weeks  :o.  I didn't notice anything until about 10 days before her teeth broke through and I could see just a smallish white bit under the gum.  So it took a lot longer than I though.

6 months is the best!!  They learn to sit, get more mobile and I have found Holly to be sleeping better for days and nights!!  So I have loved it since she turned 6 months!!

Have you tried to shorten A times at all?  Alexa advised me to try shortening A time to see if that helped with 1hr15 min naps and honestly it did!!  So when she does 3hr A time it can usually be 2 hour nap but we did 3hr20 the other day and got a 1hr10.

I went to a mother and baby class yesterday and Holly was the ONLY baby that slept longer than 30 min naps  :o.  Yet their babies all slept well at night!!  I sometimes think if I had been more relaxed about naps and routine everything, she would sleep just as well but without all the stress involved for a few months trying to extend naps!!  Saying that - I do enjoy the nap time to get things done around the house  :P.  It just puzzles me!!

Hi ladies...

wow... lots of chats here huh...

Laura - you have always been doing soo great huh? Naps extention, swaddle weaning.... I think you are a very very patient person, aren't you?  ;) Perhaps you can pass a bit of your patience to me...haha ...

I know what you mean - I sometimes think that too! But then I think if I can help my LO to grow better, why not?

Didn't realise you were from Scotland? Whereabout? I used to live there for a year - I did my uni there!  :P Oh that was a long time ago --- oh dear, I'm sooo old now!  :-[

Barbara - how times flies! Our LOs are over 6 months old! I can't believe it! How's your LO doing right now? She can do around 3hr A? Wow... that's a lot... DS is now still hanging around 2hr20min  ::) I wonder why?? ???
Can she roll over yet? sitting up? My little monkey is rolling ove both ways now but can't sit up by himself yet for more than a second or two... but he's trying to learn to sit. He also tries to crawl - but only backwards so far! He's really keeping himself busy! Has your LO got any teeth yet? Mine hasn't yet, but I think he is probably teething, which is why his sleep has gone out of the window I think!  ::) ::) Day and Night! Gosh....can kill me for that! :-\

Hello ladies,

yeah, it's been while... ;)  Time really does fly, I also can't believe she's over 6 mos old!!!  :o

My DD is sitting by herself really well, she can't sit up by herself yet, but stays upright when we sit her down.  First 2 teeth appeared the week before last and this week.  Rolling over is still by accident, so she's definitely not crawling yet.

That's good that she's sitting well....she'll probably be able to roll over easily soon... ;)

Just wondering how did she do before the teeth appeared? What was the sympton like? Did it affect her sleep very much? Did you have to give her pain relieve all the time? How long did the thing go on until they finally break through?

DS is driving me NUTS at the moment.... really couldn't figure out if he's teething or he's got any other discomfort - he's waking up every HOUR every night and for the past month or so!   >:(:(  He does bite everything but other than that, I couldn't see any red cheeks, swallen gums, not drolling much really, no weird poos, no fever, etc. Could it still be teething?

Hi ladies :)

Turbomum - I am in Falkirk, just outside of Stirling.  Which uni did you go to?  We might have went to the same one.  I went to Dundee.  Its funny you say I am patient as my husband thinks I am the least patient person in the world (and I would have to agree with him  ;)) so I really dont know how I went through the months of horrid nap extensions.  To be honest, I dont know if I would be as patient again if I ever have another baby  :P.

My LO is STILL not rolling!!  She is really big though and I know she has the ability to but she is just lazy I think.  She can sit up on her own without support so my doc says I have nothing to worry about  :).  She got her 1st 2 bottom teeth the day she turned 6 months, which was also the same say she started sitting on her own.  She was having a lot of NW's when she started sitting, but they stopped once she had mastered it!

Oh you just posted at same time - my LO was grumpy (realllllllly grumpy) for 4 whole long weeks before her 2 teeth came through.  But we had no NW's luckily.  Have you tried some pain meds before bed to see if that helps with the NW's?

X

My DD isn't really grumpy with the teething.  Lucky me!!  ;D  I'm guessing it gave her a slightly harder time to get to sleep at night (sometimes up to 30 mins) a couple of days before the first one broke through.  Although I can't be sure of this, because she didn't give me a lot of signs.  Looking back she did drool more, but no weird poos, no fever, no swollen gums, no red cheeks,...

One day I just saw the first one poking through!  :)  Last Wednesday the second one broke through about 1.5 weeks after the first one.

Laura I hear you! I don't think I will be able to be as patient again with a second baby.  First teaching her to fall asleep independently, shh/patting forever, then dealing with the HORRIBLE the 45 min nap.  :)  And I'm one of the lucky ones, because my DD is a really happy and easy baby.

I've been to Stirling - that is a BEAUTIFUL place!!! I'd love to live nearby there :). I went to Strathclyde in Glasgow. I like that place too - really nice people up there in the north. I don't quite like it here in the south but I suppose I haven't got much choice. :(  I'd love to go back up there some day to do some revisit - I can't quite remember the place that well now although I used to love it soo much ::) - see I'm reallly getting old :p . Maybe when LO's a bit older then I can show him where mummy went to uni.... :D

Well... I suppose when it comes to our precious little ones... we've got to be more patient than what we acutally are huh? Thinking of having another one already? Oh dear... I can only dread for that thought at the moment.... ;)

I think my LO is just doing too many things at one time, which is probably causing him so many disrupted sleep and also made it REALLY HARD for me to figure out what it was! :<  I prefer he does things a bit slow like one at a time maybe better... oh well... but you can't decide for them can you? How lucky are you that you didn't have many NWs when she's teething - I've read from other threads that that is the worst to disrupt sleeping! But when you say "a lot NWs" when she starts sitting, how many times was that a night?

Yup I've tried some pain meds and I got one good (well, slightly better) night and one HORRIBLE night! Last night I forgot the meds :-/ but it went pretty well - only 3 NWs which is BRILLIANT as compared to before... so I suppose it wasn't really any pain that was bothering him... hmm.... still need to figure it out.....

Oh... Barbara - you just posted when I did... lucky you! I just hope that it was the teething that's bothering him and hope to see one soon!!! He hasn't got any yet and now that he's almost 6.5 months old!  OK he's up now....got to go.. chat later

Hey T,

At the moment I'm not really considering a second baby AT ALL!  :)  I'm really happy with DD and i'm enjoying it so much that I'm actually having serious doubts as to wether to have another baby or not.  Right now it's a no, but I guess it's still pretty early to be saying that...  We'll see.

We'll see.  She just went down after 3h20 A time.  :o  We did go for a long walk so it was a really low key A time for her.  Curious how long she's going to sleep for.  This morning was 1h45.  ;D

Haha - yep same here.  Im not sure I could cope with another.  I enjoy my time with DD as well so dont feel the need at all just now to even think about another.  In fact, i had a nightmare a few nights back that I was pregnant and it terrified me!!  :o

Im having a horrible time with DD wriggling and waking during naps and night.  I hope its a phase as its driving me insane.  She gets in all sorts of positions that she doesnt like and is hardly sleeping at all  :'(  I hope she goes back to normal soon  :P  I think I also need to tweak her routine as we are stuck at 3 hours which was working amazingly for a month but everythings gone a bit wonky.  Hopefully when her sleep improves I can work on her A times!!

Hope all is well with you both  ;D

All is well, except we're getting EW's again.   >:(  Napping at daycare has also deteriorated, so I'm guessing it's related.

Laura, hope Holly sleeps better again soon.  It's no fun getting up at night!

I found Axelle upside down in her bed this morning.  ::)  Was cute though!  :)

Hugs & kisses

Hey.. same here this morning! DS completely heading opposite direction from where I put him down!  :o  Just wondering if I need to lower his cot mattress to the lower level now...... but then not sure if perhaps a bit too early for a 6.5mo old? Or is it about time?
