she has been in bed since 5.30 and its 7ish now.for the past 20 mins or so she has been so restless, thrashing round the cot and crying out.i do think this is teething tho she has not been good today, very miserable, has a sore bum and is cutting 2 teeth.

i think it is catching up with her a bit today do i keep sticking to 1 nap or give her 2 naps tomorrow to help her to catch up a bit? Tho i think it was the 2 naps that were confusing her and she has been doin so well. These teeth are not coming at a good time whilst we are trying to get thru this!

I dunno hun. With Stan I would let him sneak a 10 mins catnap while I 'wasn't looking' but then although we had our problems he was much easier than Daisy. Can you keep her dosed up on Nurofen/Paracetemol? When Stan was teething I would give him a full dose of Nurofen and a big cup of milk right before his one nap so that at least neither pain nor a hungry tummy would wake him up. Let us know what you decide, fingers crossed she settles and sleeps well tonight.

another restless night.i kept her dosed up with meds so it was hard to know if it was teeth or OT kicking in a bit.she woke at 5.30 so that was 12 hrs sleep so not bad.she woke up in a gr8 mood so i decided to push thru it again with sticking to the 1 nap.Asleep for 11.30 so hoping for a decent sleep.

im sure OT is kicking in a bit here but do you think pushing thru it and sticking to 1 nap is the right thing to do? she is adjusting well but i read that sometimes they need 2 nap days to catch up a bit.im not sure this is the way to go with D.i think she needs to know whats happening and hoping consistency gets her thru this.

I think you have to trust your gut on this one Lucy :/ My instinct would be to stick to one nap as much as possible, possibly with the exception of just a 10-15mins (no longer!) catnap. Will she sit still for cuddles and TV with you? Maybe keeping her pm activities really low-key will help too. When we had made the transition we did lots of buggy walks - Stan would be awake, but not running around madly, so he wasn't wearing himself out even more.

She did great to sleep 12 hours overnight!

she very rarely sits still.she is on the go constantly!! chasing round the house.she loves books so i could try and get her sat down for a while with her books.she is an energiser bunny!!

she sreams blue murder in her buggy cos she wants to get out and walk instead. she isnt easy this girl!

i thought 12 hrs was gr8 but my dh was not happy when she was singing at 5.30!! he does not think early bedtimes will work and is not happy with the 5.30 wake ups even tho she has slept 12 hrs! its hard when they arnt on the same page!

I know, it's really hard. Can you get him some earplugs? If you can get a nice 5.30am start, 11.30am nap, 5.30pm bedtime going, you can start to move everything (meals, naps, bedtime) ahead by 15 mins every few days.

i didnt think of that.should i be putting her to bed at 5.30pm even if she takes a good nap or try for 6pm if i can?

dh is so good,we take turns with getting up with the kids every morning even tho he works. He is just reluctant to get up at 5.30 when i have put her to bed early.I guess he thinks later bedtime later wake up,never mind she isnt OT with 12 hrs sleep!

Maybe i just get up with her while im needig the early bedtime. Then he cant moan!

How about trying, 5.30 bedtime earliest, or 5hrs A time. If that gives you a later bedtime and an earlier waking, cut it back to 4.5hrs. So a short nap gives a 5.30pm bedtime, a 2hr nap at 11.30 gets bedtime of 6 or 6.30 (depending how she does). That sounds good? What do you think?

For me anything less than 1.5hrs is short. 1hr 10-20 mins is always OT for us (on one nap) so I'd stick to 5.30. Fingers crossed for a good afternoon :-*

Booo to the short nap. If you get another early start, how about a 10mins catnap at 10am then a proper nap at 1?
