I know what you mean, that's a good first A but her behaviour seems Ut....then OT at bt from short nap :-\
Can you get an apop can in the car or buggy if you get an hr20 nap maybe 4 hrs later then bt 2 hrs after that? Or apop refused?

How does EBT work for you? I would go for as early as 6pm on days like your easy where cn was refused ;)

Sadly, APOP is refused too. We can do early BT, but after we did a few in a row, she started waking at 5.30 & I wasn't sure if she was really able to tack on properly. I will try again though.

Last night she woke a couple of times really screaming in the first hours after BT. We gave her some calpol & she slept through to 6am, & resettled herself then, so perhaps there is some discomfort too.

She's angel with a bit of textbook. So far we've never had any trouble with dropping naps & she's always been fairly low sleep needs. Today we had first nap of 50 mins after 4 hours & 35 mins A & then we were out at a friend's house in the agternoon& she slept inthe car on the way home for 25 mins from 4.40-5.05pm. Then she was really miserable in the evening & wouldn't eat much dinner. I was out for the early evening but DH says she's woken twice already - do you think I should keep her A times as they are for now & see if it passes or stretch her first A a bit more to see if she sleeps longer for one nap?

If you think it could be teeth I'd hold for a bit - did you give teething meds before bed this evening? I would give them 20 mins before the first nap tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks ladies for your suggestions. I'm not sure whether it's teething or just a build up of OT but we've given her meds before bed tonight so we'll see how that goes. We had a NW at 4.45 until 5.30 this morning and then she slept until 7.20. Put down for nap at 11.45 after a snack & she only slept for 45 mins from noon & then screamed so hard she was retching :-( we gave more meds but she wouldn't settle again. She refused further naps today, even in the car so we put her to bed at 6pm & she went straight to sleep. Fingers crossed for a better night. Xx

Hi ladies,

It's been a while and I think I can see a pattern emerging but would love your opinion too. As a recap DS is coming up 14 months, we started the 2:1 at around 10.5 months. We've been battling ew since he was 4 months old.

So in the last month, apart from when we were on holiday and last week due to illness, we seem to be getting slightly more 6am WU, yay, but generally this seems to be if we have a wu from nap time at 2.30 latest. The trouble is at nursery he sometimes takes a long time to go to sleep for his nap as he's chatting/playing with the other babies in the sleep room when they all go in at 12.30. This sometimes means that he doesn't go to sleep until 1.15......so not that long a nap time if I ask them to wake him up at 2.30. If I allow him to sleep as long as he wants this means we get a really early wu the next morning 4.40am

Example bad day:
5.40 wu
1.10 nap -3.30 wu (capped)
7.40 bt (normal is 7.30)
wu 4.40 (worst one was 4.20)

Example Good day

6.00 wu
nap 12.30/1.00 - 2.30
bt 7.30
wu 6ish

We have tried doing earililer naps eg 11/11.30 but he tends to do shorter naps and then is OT at bt and is rubbish at tacking on sleep if we do ebt (+often logistically difficult due to work).

So my question is, on the days he takes a long time to fall asleep for his nap, is it better to cap the nap at 2.30pm regardless, to preserve bt, or let him nap and push bt out to +5 hours from when he wakes up - not great for me and dh and a really long long day for DS.

Does anyone else have any experience of this kind of pattern?

Thanks lovely ladies xxx

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post since it looks like you are on a thread of conversation and I may be interrupting?

My Lo is just 8 months old and already at a 3hrs 35AT so that I am needing to cap the pm nap after a 2hr morning nap if we are to make bedtime no later than 7.30 (he has never been later than 7pm for BT and can manage 3 hours after a 45min nap).

Surely this is FAR too early for a 2-1 transition??

Hi :-) Just need a few pointers here... this all happened much later with my DD so feel like I'm winging it a bit this time around. DS is 10 months and we have been doing nap times something like this:

0630ish wake (aim for 0700 but its been getting earlier and earlier)
1000 ( hr, I wake him)
1400 (2 hrs but this has been dropping back to 1.5hrs)
7pm BT but he hasn't been lasting and has been going down 6:30ish instead

Today daylight savings started so I did the following:

Woke at 0700 (the old 0600...)
1025 (40 mins, I woke him just after 11)
1430 (2 hrs, I woke him) he also talked away at beginning of this nap and didn't seem that tired.
7pm tried to put down but he cried which isn't normal and I had to stay with him till 7:30.

So I think he needs 3 hrs in the evening, and we like a 7pm BT as its the same for DD. Wondering do I need to move AM nap later or just shorten it to help with wake time getting earlier and need to keep PM nap starting no later than 2 pm really.

I have to mess with it completely some days as DD at school so if I have to do pick up it all goes out the window...those days I have done a short 30 min nap at 9:30 then pm nap at 1-3 but he doesn't seem to cope well with that over a few days getting OT.

Sorry meant to make this a quick one!!

Straffles - they are all sooooo different and ages are such loose guidelines. If he is happy and coping with the times you are doing then he is ready for it. Its hard when they do it early as you really wonder if thats the problem but we started capping quite a while ago as DS would wake in the night with 2 big naps... whatever works for you is right :-)
