Sound like a start towards that "just one good nap!" and a bit more night time sleep??? Oh, and I am not feeding before 6 hours ( a months ago I thought I would never say that, she really has come a long way!!)
Well done on lengthening the feeding! I remember you being pretty hesitant about that, you both have come a long way. :) I do think it sounds like you're on the right track.  Keep up the good work and keep us posted.  FX for some good naps and more night sleep!

I remember you being pretty hesitant about that, you both have come a long way.

We have. It is a good feeling. However our days are just LOUSY! We have had a TOTAL of 1hr 25 minutes of day sleep. She will still have 2hr45 minutes to do after a 25minute nap just to get to 5:30 BT!!!

Bumped to 3hr45 minute A (!!!!) and will hold it for a few days but got a 1 hour nap again this morning. Tried everything to get her back to sleep after the 25 minutes but she wouldn't have it. Even fed her! And I know she wan't hungry because she had JUST finished her lunch when I started winding her down! And she ate half of an avacado and some cottage cheese.  Now this was partly my fault because we were all outside playing with DS and she was in the carrier alot. She needed some wiggle time so I set her down with some stuffed animals to play with while I set DS up on quiet time. By the time we did WD and she screamed and carried on for 20 minutes before going to sleep she had done a 3hr25A. After a 1 hour nap! Have been doing around 3 after our morning nap. The longest morning nap she has had in a while has been 1hr7. !

Shockingly enough (:) ) I have some questions.

Katherine, did I remember correctly your DD doing around 2 hours of sleep when she was on 2 naps.( Stumbled across this in the 2-1, fun fun, naps section) WHat sort of naps? WHat sort of A at this age? Would you mind to share a bit with me? Am wondering if she and my DD are similar.

I have gone over and over the sample routines for this age and various things and still aren't getting it right so I am wondering if I am heading the wrong way with her. A lot of the sample routines have LO's of 8 months barely doing 3 hours. Is there a possibility her 1 hour nap is really OT? Except she is nearly 9 months. And nothing like starting your day with a 27 minute nap if I am wrong!!!

That's all for now, thanks as always for all your help. Just wish we could start getting soome sleep around here!

She is spinning around on the floor right now looking just adorable, I feel bad for feeling the way I do right now, but come on Ivy, you are almost 9 months old, sleep!!!!  I am sure I am doing something awfully wrong for our sleep to be this muddled still. But I have NO idea where.......

There is a possibility, yes.  My DD did 1hr naps when she was OT from about 7mo on.  I've found that A times at this age can really vary, so it's quite difficult to go off of a few sample routines.  It seems like 3hr is about average for 7-8mo and then it goes up to 3.5hr around 9-10mo.  The only way you'll know if it's an OT nap is if you pull back.  And yes, you might get a 27min nap if you're wrong, but then at least you'll know.  Well, that's always been my theory... you don't know unless you try. ;)

I am sure I am doing something awfully wrong for our sleep to be this muddled still.
I really don't think it's you, hon, she's just a tough one to read.  Hopefully, Katherine has some added insight!!

Well to heck with it! I am going to test my theory today. We were up at 5 ( She was  out at 5:38 last night so to be fair, I didn't really expect much more.  I had to resettle ( took about 2 minutes at 11:30 and then fed her at 1:30, I was feeling brave at 11:30 and she didn't *sound* hungry) If she pulls a 27 minute nap ( her mysterious, strange UT nap length) then I will just follow KAtherine's excellent advice and just start watching her closely around the 2-2.5 hour mark. And then hope for the best. Not sure how on earth we will get through this day on 2 naps. Hope they are good ones!!

At 9 months J was doing 3h50/4h first thing and getting a 1h30 nap on a good day.  The pm nap was pretty much always rubbish - around 30-40 mins but that got us through to roughly a 12h day.  I agree that the 1h naps could well be OT - though could also be discomfort.  How did it go?

After a 3 hr A she did 1hr7!!iExactly!! Not great, just sort of hmm. She went down easier too. Just afew burbles and comments, now since that was less than 2 sleep cycles I am thinking  Iwill do 2hr45. Strange that the nap from a 3hr45 is an hour and a 3hr is just 7 minutes different....Will I ever figure this girl out???:)

Well, yesterday was interesting:) It went something like this.
A5:02 UP
S8:00
E9:07
S11:55
E12:55 Yes, our 2nd nap ended at barely 1:00
So, we tried for a CN 2hr45 later. Wound up beinrg 3hr15 later as she was quite resisitant. She CN from 3:58 until 4:18 when I woke her.
Think we really need to do no more CN's. So when I went to put her to be at 6:15, she didn't go to sleep until 6:55. Just lots of up and down and fussing/grizzling and some rolling and clucking to herself. Fed at 12:50. Up for the day at 5:40 after some up and down at 4:40.
SOme weirdness:
.

She seems to take roughly the same nap after 3hr45 as she does 3hr, but goes down a bit easier after 3hr. And I would venture to say keeps more OT away,
Haven't really proven this and I agree we just haven't found the magic number yet but I don't want go all changey-changey on her. What about holding at 3hr 20 for a few days. 3hr doesn't move us through the day very well and I REALLY don't like being up at 5. After her doing a 1 hour nap after 3 hour I *doubt* she needs 3hr45. Just seems a bit sketchy.
As far as CN's go I I don't think we dare do anymore! I know it was 4.5 hours to any kind of reasonable BT and the first bit of the day needs more sleep but maybe if I just stuff her in the carrier and keep it low key as much as possible until 5:30!!
ANy thoughts?

We are trudging off to Naps as even after pulling back for 2-3 days each of 3hr,3hr15, 3hr30 and now back to 3hr45 A we are still getting nowhere with these 1hr naps!!! PM naps is usually a broken hour. SHe is settling more easily at night and we have cut out the PU in PUPD and talking quietly and sometimes patting helps her. She is selfsettling alot of her wakings ( yes, we still have them) and getting around 11 hours. No I don't think we are getting too close to STTN but I am not doing more than one feed and it has to be at least 6 hours in. I can't help but feel that if we could get our silly day sleep sorted than we would be closer. Here goes! Thanks so much for all the encouragement and help!!

Good luck honey - maybe W2S would help her get past the 1h mark?  Anyway, sure the naps team will have some good ideas for you x
