What did you do in the end?

Do you think he might need a later BT? I know when we were on such high A times and a short and a long nap we had to do a 13hr day to fit it all in.

Hi Ali,

He went down at 10:40 woke at 12:30. I ended up doing an UT nap from 4-4:30 w/ bt at 7:30. He went down find at BT but he woke at 4:45 I resettled in a few min he woke at 5:45. This is where it got interesting, He screamed bloody murder at me. I am not feeding him, nor am I rocking him and boy I think he let the whole world know how he felt. Bucking and screaming and throwing himself all over the crib. I finally got him calm at 6:25 he woke at 6:30, got him resettled at 6:45 he slept till I woke him at 7:30.. So I'm thinking he was OT by BT? With such a late wake up I'm hoping that if it was OT and I put himd down at a 12hr day he can catch up? If he wakes happy in his crib then I'll know he wasn't OT? I don't know these early mornings are killing me. Now that I've dug in and said no more NF, and no more rocking in the early morning i'm going to stick to it. I just want to make sure I'm not making him OT if he's UT to start with?

For today he slept from 11:20-12:40?? I think he was OS from the morning. I put him down at 4:15 and will let him sleep till 4:45, thought an EBT of 7:30 after a short cat nap will let me know if he's OT or UT if he wakes y or if he sleeps better?  It's so hard to tell. I know for SURE after a 45min nap he needs a full A before bed but I can't fit in a 45min nap and full A with such long A's during the day? even on a 13hr day?

I'd stick with a long nap in the morning and a 30 min CN in the afternoon for a few days and see how he handles that. If you can be consistent with not feeding him or rocking him in the mornings I bet he will soon start sleeping later without the wake ups. That is what happened when I weaned my DS2's NF at 5am. He had a week of still waking and having to be resettled and then he just started sleeping through until 6.30/40am.

Thanks, my only concern is I can't do a CN when he wakes at 6am like this morning. He wont tack on sleep so if I put him down for an EBT he'll just wake early? At least he was doing that at 6/7 months so I stopped with the EBT. He consistently does 10.5hrs a night rarely 11 and never 12. So today I had to do an 1hr nap to get him to BT w/ A of 3.5hrs. So we'll see what tonight brings us but that's what I wasn't sure of how to handle? Should I try a CN and EBT again?

^^^This.
I wouldn't do EBT IIWY, I am still not sure why your day doesn't fit with a 3:45h A time, 1.5-2h nap, a shorter A to get a CN and then a full A before BT...

How did the last couple of days go?

he has a really hard time doing an UT nap, usually fights it until the full A anyway. Also, He can't do a full A on a CN of 30min. I think he gets OT by BT? Do most LO's do a full A on less then 45min naps? Plus the fact that he does a  13.5 hour day from 6-7:30 so it's hard. Past two days.

Mon:
Wake 6
S:9:50
W: I woke him at 12:15  He seemed very tired so I let him sleep a little longer than usual
S:4-4:40
S:7:40
Slept from 7:40-6:10 I was happy with that. He is like clockwork, his internal clock amazes me.

Tues
Wake 6:10
S: 10:05 (babysitter put him down a bit late)
W: 12:05 on the dot
S:4:05 He just wasn't interest in sleeping
W:4:40
S: 7:35
Woke at 4:10 crying I resettled in 15min of shush/pat back to sleep at 4:25
Woke at 6:14

So given he isn't having crib parties I would think the wakings are OT since I did almost the exact same day two days in a row, one day he slept through the other he didn't.?

Can you stick with what you have done the last two days then? What is wrong with that? Aside from the NWs on the second night but they may not even be routine related.

Mine never did a full A time after a CN no. We did about 3 hrs of A time after a 30-45 min nap.

Hi Ali, I was just confused by this?

I wouldn't do EBT IIWY, I am still not sure why your day doesn't fit with a 3:45h A time, 1.5-2h nap, a shorter A to get a CN and then a full A before BT...

I will stick to what I've been doing and see how it goes. It's weird as he can do a good nap on a 3.5hr A if he's tired so I might play with it a bit but I'll let you know how it's going. He's teething today hard core so we'll see how tonight is.

Thanks for your help so much.

Sometimes you just need to experiment with what works with your LO. Ima and I can tell you what worked for our LOs, which is often completely different from one LO to another even between my boys, but you can only try it and see if it works for your family.
