I probably should have thought of this sooner, but I take a ton of psyllilum husk to make sure I'm regular. I had bad constipation during pregnancy and a nightmare hemorrhoid (TMI!) flare up post-partum this time around.

I'm going to stop taking it for a few days and see if that helps DD's wind.

Well it would interesting if that was the cause! I guess it would make some kind of sense though!

Re: First day of dairy elimination - update**Off Dairy, Soy, now wheat???

So I've been off dairy for >2 weeks, and off soy and my psyllium capsules for just a few days, but I actually think things are getting worse. What I can say is I've definitely been eating a ton of wheat.

Also since I've gone dairy free DD poos have become much less frequent. After almost 6 days I gave prune juice/water mix and she had 3 large poos, then 2 more a few days later, but right now we are on day 6 again and the prune juice is not working.

Breastfed babies can even go 10 day w/o poos and things be okay medically, but it just makes sense to me that not pooing has to be uncomfortable, so I'm wondering if eliminating dairy can actually cause constipation? Any BTDT?

If things are that much worse and you have been consuming a lot of gluten I wonder if it is worth it to try gf for a bit? That one would not be easy for me though!

So I have been wheat (not just gluten) free for about 2.5 days and am seeing a real difference. I still skeptical to say for 100%, but my gut tells me this is working. The thing is I also stopped the psyllium just before I stopped wheat so not sure what did it.

I am planning to re-introduce dairy and soy, but I'm nervous!!

I wouldn't reintroduce soy and milk (or one or the other) till your LO has been symptom free a few weeks. Then I would try reintroducing just one - and waiting 2 weeks. Intolerances take time to expose themselves sometimes YK?

That is great that you are seeing an improvement! I agree with Sara though about waiting a bit and doing dairy and soy separately. They could all be an issue and it would be hard to tell if you jumped right back in. I'm trying to puzzle out something here too as E has had a day and a half of incredible fussiness but I cant figure it out.

I will definitely wait per your advice as you guys really know your stuff! But could you explain why and what you mean by this:

Intolerances take time to expose themselves

And I'm not as sure as I was before that it's wheat, last night she had an episode of terrible gas. And they only things I ate yesterday were rice cereal w/ banana & almond milk, coffee w/ almond milk, peanut butter jelly on rye, a pickle, and french fries (white potato) from a restaurant.

TIA!!!

Gluten...rye has gluten. Have you been eating rye all along? Plus the fries...some restaurant fries have wheat &/or dairy. Plus nuts are a common allergen, though I would suspect the other things first!

And as for intolerances over time...usually an allergic rxn will present right away or withn an hour or two but an intolerance can build up in your system so they seem fine for awhile and then suddenly it all goes pear shaped. If that makes any sense!

No I just started eating rye since cutting out wheat, really? fries with wheat and dairy!! UGH!!

I ate rye already today, but won't have fries or peanut butter, so I'll start there.

I get that intolerance can build up, but Im still not clear why I should keep dairy out while I cut out wheat if I didn't see any difference after a few weeks of dairy free.

I was only soy free for about 1 week when I eliminated wheat.

This is so tough! Hugs to all you guys who have been doing it for so long!

I would leave out the dairy and soy so that you can tell for sure what is causing issues. Once you get to where you think it is "normal"you can then add them in one at a time over time and really know what is the offender.

Yup some fries do have wheat/dairy...but not all . Most restaurants have allergen/ingredient info on their websites or I just phone and ask. We have our go to places we stick with mainly though!

Because your LO could be intolerant to both ;) ::) :P

Please help! I've been off dairy, soy (not really sure exactly how long), egg for almost a month, truly off wheat and gluten for 3 days and DD gas has reached an all time maximum.  Up every hour- 2 hours overnight in such pain. And so much odorless gas comes out. I am exhausted and feel terribly for her.

She also has had fever to 102.7 w crust eyes and funny nose for 2 days. DS has been sick. Taking DD to Ped. tomorrow.

Could all this gas be from something  other than what I eat?

Would a trial of formula help parse it out?I could/would pump the whole time. And maybe go on a diet of just rice and turkey like Heidi mentioned, but give everyone a break until it kicked in, and reintroduce BM if the formula shows improvement and after I have cleared my system of everything.

I am losing it!!!!
