Oh! I jinxed it :'(

Woke up tonight 10.30pm, shaking and crying - terrified. Gave him a big hug, asked what was the matter, he couldn't tell me. Asked if he'd had a bad dream - he said 'yes'. Does he know what that means?

He was sooooo upset, I took him downstairs for some warm milk and an episode of In the Night Garden, seemed to calm him. Now it's half past midnight, he's in his cot struggling to get to sleep, and I'm at my post on my bed, with the door open - he was VERY insistent I didn't leave him alone.

Thanks girls :-*

He went back to sleep after that, slept through until 7.30am. Woke up fine, no upset :)

I think I've decided that now is not really the time for sleep training. Whatever is going on with him is really upsetting him (I think it's bad dreams), so I think we need to ride out that storm first. The most important thing I've learnt from Tracy is that they need to feel secure and loved before anything can happen, and I think leaving the door open, me going into him, even sleeping with me occasionally is what he needs at the moment. I'll just have to hope that we either work out what it is that's upsetting him, or it blows over.
Caroline :)

I think you're right... Is he actually awake when he's so upset? maybe it's night terror...

Just don't do that on the floor sitting thing every night, will you?

He does seem awake - it's possible to reason with him/talk to him, so I don't think it's a 'terror' as such

And no, I won't do that again! Did it for 4 nights and it nearly killed me! No wonder it's a form of torture
