Thanks all - it really is fun to see her learning to pick things up. She already gets frustrated when it all clumps up in her fist and nothing makes it out between her thumb and finger to get into her mouth.  ;D After a few days of refusing anything, she's back to grabbing for everything. For dinner she sucked on a green bean, toast, and noodle. :) Just practicing for now, but lots of fun.

I discovered by accident that she likes to suck on frozen cubes of puree  ;D - prob. cuz of teething. So, that's nice for getting rid of all the puree I already made. Super messy, but so much fun - added bonus is it keeps her busy while I make dinner!

Someone recommended frozen waffles??? hmmmm... thots?

thank you miss goblin. Hope your due date arrives soon.

So cute inoella. Glad you're both enjoying BLW :)

I had some steak leftover from the weekend. I can't stand meat..unless it's ground and in pasta or really soft in a sauce or curry. So anyways, I warmed it up and gave her a chunk and she sucked/gummed on it for 20 minutes ::) Funny girl. I wish their non fussy eating could last, huh?

Yikes! DD just swallowed what I would consider a sizable chunk of apple peel - oh wait... then spit it back out... so, should I be giving her fruit with peel to help hold on to it or if she's already getting chunks should I just peel it? And now she's gumming off chunks of apple and spitting them back out  - is this the way it goes? kinda scary for first time mommy! but she won't stop!  :)

If she didn't choke, don't worry! We never gave hard fruit when DD was young, that happened by accident when she crawled over grabbed my apple and started gnawing on it!

Quick question for you "experienced BLWers".  What type of pasta do you give your LOs?  Is there any type that is safer/easier for them?
I have been trying to give LO some foods to play with and try to eat while I get meals ready.

hi there!

I give her macaroni and then softly squish it. However, she squishes everything between her fingers anyways before she puts it in her mouth.

I think there's "baby pasta" too..but really, any small pasta would do!! I chose macaroni so she had something longish to grab.

Thanks!
I was going to try fusilli (the only pasta I have right now), but when I tried to squish it the little edges broke off very easily and I got a little worried.  And therefore the question!

We just give her what we have, usually penne. If it's over cooked it will be really slippery, but fusilli should be fine!

OMG, I just noticed, you have ONE lo (and the 2nd on the way). This entire time...I thought you had TWO los (and a 3rd on the way)...just realised now that your lo is looking in the mirror in your picture...I...thought it was a picture of TWO los holding hands!

Anyone give rice cakes to their LOs?  I bought some yesterday and was thinking he's probably enjoy them...  only two ingredients, soooo much better than a lot of the baby cookies.
