Hey guys,
Seems like everybody is having a nice weekend. We had a picnic today and it was lovely, until the end and Lyle was screaming the place down  :P

Ok.... so it took Lyle 45min to go to sleep this morning  :o  But then he slept 1.5 hours. When he was in bed he was just lying there though. In the same spot pretty much. Did not make a peep. So I'm not really sure what to make of that  ???

I am trying for a pm nap (catnap) right now, and it's sort of turning into a joke  ::)  He'll lay down for awhile put then get up and jump move about. Soon if he even goes to sleep it will be so late. It's already 4:10.

Maybe it's because he had last night sleep last night (a little more than 10 hours??) He went to bed late since the PM nap was late.  Maybe 3.5 was too much for him because of that?

Well since he woke at 6:30am we did first nap from 10-11:30am and then laid him down for the 2nd nap at 3pm. It has been 40 minutes and he still isn't asleep. He is very fussing and rubbing his eyes. I have been doing walk in/walk out and he just gets madder everytime I leave. My plan is to keep trying until 4pm and if he doesn't sleep then give up. What time should bedtime be without a second nap. Could he be ready for one nap already at 12 months?

Jen

Charm thanks for the picture advice. I will have to try it later when my little one is coperating!

Jen - we've had several of those stinky one nap days since Lyle was 10 months old. It's just all part of the whole transition for some of us. Hopefully he will be back to normal tomorrow. If this keeps happening then you might have to go back to the drawing board regarding naps. If he's been up since 11:30 then I would have him in bed at 6 and see how it goes. It will be important to see if he will make up the missed sleep from today or if early bedtimes in this situations won't work for you.

Actually I just remember Purplecattypants post about the 2-1 switch on the last thread we had and she even did bedtime of 5:45 some days. So.... if you think your LO will make up the sleep you might even try that early??? At this age Lyle isn't doing much of the catching up sleep, so I put him to bed just a tad before 7. But I think you saw yesterday that sometimes it is good to put them in early. What was your LO mood like this afternoon?

His mood was good he almost seemed like he was on autopilot everywhere. He was cranky before 2nd nap so I am almost wondering if he was overtired and I should have put him down earlier for second nap. Do you think the no nap today could be related to how much night sleep he got last night. I don't think he is used to being that well rested :) So tomorrow should I just keep up with the 3.5 awake time or should I push it 10-15minutes for a few days so we can start to move closer to one nap? I never expected this so soon!!!! 12 months GEESH!

It depends on how much you think you can push your little man?

If you think today might be OT, then that's probably not the way to go? I would give it another day or two. Or you can try going to one nap and seeing how your LO copes. Have you tried any one nap days? How did they go? Some LO switch with no problem. They can even go cold turkey, not needing to move up the nap time every few days. Some have lots of problems. Have you tried a short morning nap and longer afternoon nap?

He has never had one nap! This is the first day. I have to pick  up my older son up from preschool at 2:30pm so the longer morning nap works for us. Otherwise he would be asleep for second nap by the time I have to pick up the older one! I put him to bed at 6pm and he was asleep withing minutes. We are coming up to the two hour window soon. That is usually when he wakes up if he is overtired. So we will see what happens. Tomorrow I will keep the normal 3.5 hour awake time and see how it goes.

Where are most of you ladies located? The time on this is crazy! What time zone is it?

Have a good night everyone!
Jen

Argh well we had a 5.30am start. I'm fairly sure he woke cuz he was hungry - he's had this tummy bug so not eating anything but is just starting to get his appetite back. I gave him a bottle in bed and left him to it but he never really went back to sleep. He's been really crabby all morning, having a nap now 9.15 til 10 and then we'll hope for a longer nap at 1. Ugh i could have done without this today still feeling rotten myself.

Hope everyone's morning is better...

Jen seems to me like he got a 2nd wind.  Maybe like you said you needed to put him down earlier.

Anna, sorry you've had a rough start.  Hope you can get some rest while he sleeps  :-* :-* :-*

No more nap refusals but two days of 5:30am wakings and about a week of only 1.5 hour naps.  Usually we have a few longer naps in there somewhere to balance things out.  LO is getting more and more crabby, approaching generally OT. It's defo the teeth. Molar 2 just popped out a corner in the last few days. Fingers crossed for normal waking tomorrow....... its my first day back at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eloise, we're in the same boat.  I found that staggering ipubrofen and paracetamol like Anna suggests helps a lot.  Hope he co-operates for you tomorrow  :-*

sherry Lynn-
I put him to bed at 6pm last night and he was asleep within minutes and slept till 5:50am. So not to bad, almost 12 hours plus the hour and a half nap yesterday that is 13.5 hours which is what he usually sleeps. 11hours at night and 2.5 during the day. I am thinking since he got so much night sleep the day before( It was 12 hours also from 6:30pm to 6:30am) that he just wasnt tired enough for a second nap but the awake time for one is so long! Does that mean I should go back to the 7pm bedtime which means a little less night sleep but hopefully two naps!!! ARRRGGG! I hate that I over think everything!

Anna - I hope you feel better soon. I sure hope he takes a good second nap for you.

Eloise - I hope you have a great day back at work tomorrow. I would def. try what Charm said about those teeth. Err....

Jen - that sounds great. If he seems like he will go down earlier this afternoon I would try maybe 3h20m? If that doesn't work today then I would try a longer A time next time. Hopefully after yesterday's antics he will be tired enough :)

So we got our first AM nap refusal in a little while. I'm sure I probably put him down too early at first. I wasn't sure when he woke. But he was pretty cranky this morning. Then I'm sure he went in too late :)  He was in bed at 12:07, so if nothing else it will be later in the day :)

Oh Jen... you can change the time to match your time. I think you'll see where if you play with the menu where you changed your picture. Cute picture BTW :)

I got my time changed! Thanks!

Well was super cranky this morning so I gave in and put him down at 9am after 3 hours of awake time. Of course I got an undertired nap 45 minutes. Oh well I will put him down for the afternoon nap early since older son doesnt have school today and hope that it goes well. I hate not having predictable nap times everyday!

Good Luck to everyone!
