Me too Anna :)

I hope it's ok to chit chat here too :)  I think it should be fine though. I love the BC but we can't moan about naps there :)

this is indeed the place to moan about naps :)  Make yourselves comfy ladies - it took us 4 mos to make the switch.  But there is life on the other side, and it's a good one! You'll get there!!!

Stan had a bit of an early start this morning, 6.30 instead of 7, but I've asked nursery to try to hold off and put him down straight after lunch. Lunch is at 11.30 so with any luck he'll be going to sleep at 12. I'm a bit nervous as to what is going to greet me when I pick him up this afternoon...

K fought both her naps today and the am one was 1hr 10mins...OT for sure cause she startled herself awake!  But then not so sure  :-\  She is napping now...finally...so I am going to wash and blow dry my hair.  Better get going before she decides to make it a short one  ::)

2nd nap was 40mins  :-\  At the moment she's admiring the profile pic lol.  I think it might be due to teething because her right cheek is extremely red and she had a  :-X nappy.  So I'm going to give it a couple more days before doing any changes to the routine.  In the hope that everything will fall back into place once we get a break from teething.

Stan had one nap today but was all complicated because he was sick and had diarrhoea at nursery and I had to go get him. I had hoped he would have a nap at 12 but it was 12.45 by the time we got home. I BF'ed him b/c he had thrown up all his lunch, and he fell asleep on me and was sobbing his little heart out every time I tried to take him off the boob so just left him there to sleep and lay down myself.

He started fidgeting and whining at 2.30, woke up, I took him downstairs but after Calpol, cuddles, offered a rusk, tried to distract him, he was still miserable so I took him back to bed and he slept again from 3-3.45. He's got no appetite for anything but milk, and was only a tiny bit sick in the afternoon, but he's still a bit pale and clingy so he had a nice bath with daddy and asleep for 6.30.

Hey ladies I was wondering if I could jump in here and see if anyone had any advice for me. My little one turned one year on the 6th! We have extended awake time just a little which seems to be working out and naps are better but we are still struggling with bedtime. This was his old schedule up until about two months ago:
6am awake
9-10:30 nap
1:30-3:00 nap
7:00 bed

now our day is looking like this
6am awake
9:30-11:00nap ( although the past couple of days it has only been till 10:45 or 10:50 maybe need to extend awake time again or could be teething)
2:30 or 2:45pm-3:30 or 3:45nap  I have to pick up older son from preschool at 2:30pm 3 days a week so shorter afternoon nap works for us.
7:00 bed

We are having bedtime struggles and night wakings within the first couple of hours of bedtime. Also early mornings some day 5:15 or 5:30am. Which I am sure is from having a hard time going down at night and not falling asleep until 7:30 or 7:45pm.
Wondering by your experience what is a good awake time before bed if the nap is 45 mins to an hour? Some night it seems he is overtired and some nights undertired. Although now I am sure he is overtired from having a later afternoon nap and then having a hard time going to sleep. He also is hitting milestones this week and teething and got shots so he is kind of a mess!

Thanks
Jen

Hello ladies,

Jumping in here too.  I know we are transitioned to 1 nap and have been for ages, but I still like to moan too when we have a bust nap like today.

Except todays nap was not bust - there was no nap at all :o  She still had a temperature that was fluctuating between 100 - 102 so she did not sleep at all.  Took her to the docs and they seem to think it is a reaction to her MMR Jab.  In bed for 6:20 and fast asleep.  Fingers crossed for a good night.

Uggggg

We are currently having a PM nap refusal. I actually think he is OT also because he was acting like a mad man right before I put him down. He's also been rubbing his eyes while in bed. I guess there is still hope. I'm so annoyed. We also took him out during the second A time, so maybe he is OS. So annoying.

Oh so coool we can chatter on! Anna - poor Stan - he sounds like he had a lovely day though - just what you want when you're not well - to be allowed to do all the things you can't normally - like fall asleep on Mummy and a warm bath with Daddy and eqarly to bed - I know he's not well, but it sounds like you gave him the perfect day to help him feel better  :-* :-* :-*

Charm - those ***** teeth - we're still only on 4 so dreading the start of any more - poor K.

Paula - we've got MMR coming up in a week or so - does it have a big effect normally or is Abi having an unusual reaction? Hope she feels better soon too and you have a good night after no nap.

Jen - I'm no expert, but my call would be to extend you LOs 1st A time. He may be OT and that can throw you off, so you have to balance getting them out of the OT trap and try and extend A times - that's what always worked for us re EWs and some NWs too........I used to reckon we needed 3 hours A time before bed, so no sleeping after 4 for bedtime at 7, so if you think that's your LO too, then cut the pm nap as short as necessary - its only a top up to get them to bedtime if they've had a longer am nap........you might find he sleeps longer for 1st nap if you can extend his A time.......

Our earlier nap plan seems to have helped - now napping at 12.45 - today til 3.40 - bedtime at 7.30 (maybe we've finally made the last leap?)  - the main thing atm is our mornings are back to a more reasonable 6.45/7 ish - now if I could just stop MYSELF from waking every morning at 5.15 expecting him to wake-up we'll be hunkydory...

H

PS - Hi Sherry  - go to sleep Lyle! Be nice to Mommy!

H - I think Abi is just having an unusaul reaction.  DS did not have any reaction to it at all.  Although, it may not be the MMR at all causing the fever, it could just be that she is coming down with something.  They are just putting it down to the MMR.  She was pretty cranky afterwards, and we had a sleepless night, and her leg did get quite inflamed from the jab - this did not happen to DS though.  Hugs hun, hope he does ok with the Jab :-*

Hugs to all coping with monkeys fighting naps!

We've had a great run of non-fighting nap days since (wait for it) been ON  holiday and back from holiday!
