Hi Kara, that would be a great thing to do in theory, but my problem is that because of my preschool runs to pick up dd I can't let him sleep past 11 am which sucks. So I was thinking try to keep the morning A time around 3h15 min and go with the flow on how he naps. But aim for a longer pm nap. If he naps 1h10 min for am then how much A time do you reckon I should try to get a long pm nap o that bt is not crazy early like 5:45?

I figure soon in a few months he might start the 2-1 so I will have to limit the am nap then anyway.

Call me crazy, but I would push his first A time to 3 hr 30 mins to see if it gets you that nice 90 min nap ;)

I really noticed crazy A time increases between 6 and 8 months... I know a few other moms have as well.  Seems that they are able to stay awake so much longer until they start to crawl to wear themselves out again.  Mine can do an A time anywhere from 3 hrs to 4.5 hrs... just depends on the day really!

I agree with this so much cos I find that every day is soooo different in what my DS can handle - one day he wants sleep after just 2hrs (rare now though!!) other days he wants to nap after 3hrs 15 - sometimes he even struggles to need sleep after that - the other day he wanted longer than 4hrs before bed!!

I think maybe you would do best cos of other commitments with your other LO that maybe capping am nap to 1 hour may work as long as you dont stretch am A time too much or he will NEED a full nap! then I would go with 3 hrs A time between first nap and second and hope for a nice long pm nap!

Aaaaaugh!! Ladies I need your help again! He has had his 4 th day of messed up pm naps in a row. I not know what to do now.

He is having 3 hrs A time in the am and the nap has been as usual 1hr 20 mins. He wakes happy then at something ridiculous like 2.25 hrs he may rub his eyes Once or do a little yawn. Then when I take him up for a nap before 3 hrs A time like I always had been used to he fights me tooth and nail. Is he ot or ut? Then he is only doing 35 minnaps. But because he is refusing a cn it's crazy long A time till 5:45 bt.

I haven't started capping the am nap or anything yet cos I think he is ot now?? Should I work on the pm A time first?

I have also started the nw post btw. Our nights are just a joke I don't even know where to begin.

Until last wk we had a 9am nap for 1.15 then 3hr A then a 1hr nap then bt at 6pm (maybe a 4hr A!) then lots of early Nws and Ews. This wk we have stretchd As (accidently at 1st as he had a nappy explosion which delayd nap1!) today we did 3.15 A then nap 9.45-11.30 (i woke!) then 3.5hr A nap 3-4.30 then bt 7.45 (our usual bt is 6pm!) Strange but we have had gd naps and sttn! Mite b worth a try? Xx

I think he started out UT and then maybe ended up OT I seriously think he was OT at 2.5 ish hours A time after a 1h20 min nap.

Maybe put a link on here to go to the NW post? And maybe end this link? It's getting pretty long anyways, and I know the mods don't usually like them to go this long  :P

I don't think you  can resolve the NW without resolving day sleep ???

Most days now we are doing between 3hrs to 3hr15 min A time and he is now 33 weeks old.nap lengths vary from 1 hr anywhere upto 1 hr 20 mins. And the day muddles along somehow and I guess I have just accepted we may never get delicious 1.5 hr naps.
I think this is Def. the case. And if he is happy with 1h20m I would live the A time at that. I'm serious!!! I messed things up so many times with Lyle by trying to get that 1.5 hour nap (therefore, increasing A time). I think it's the second A time you need to work on. I really do. I think you will be surprised by how much A time he wants there. Because of the school runs, you are limited, therefore, you have to find an A time that works there. I wouldn't be fooled by one yawn or one eye rub at this age. So much can factor into one rub, or one eye rub. I think keep your eye open for fussiness for a few days, see around which A time that happens and then maybe shoot for around then, or maybe 5 minutes before that.

Hi sherry, good to have you back! Yes this post is soooo long now! Can't believe it's gone on for over 3 months!

I will tell you my woes from today on the nw post. Here is the link

http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=216303.msg2303114#msg2303114

I think you are right. He started out ut then got ot and after a few days of lowering the pm a time I think e has caught up.  Today we had a ew and it ended up a mess.

See you over on the other board.
