Anyone find that some 45 minute naps are OT? Do they either go both ways, UT and OT? Sorry, can't leave well enough alone!!

How did she act when she woke from the 45 min nap?

She woke 46 minutes later and just sounded so mad I listened a minute and then she whacked her head on the crib so I went over to her, gave her a kiss and then laid her down with her lovey, said her sleepy phrase and she slept another 30 minutes!
Mostly she just sounded not ready to be awake, sound OT-ish?

Back on page 6 you said things were going well and then started going downhill. I had asked what happened and I think you said that there were a few short naps. Is it possible she is just OT from back then and you need to get her back on track from those short nap days that just escalated everything?

I think the fact you were able to extend the nap
Is great. Means you are getting there with the A time?  Have you been attempting to extend naps in general?

Before extending A's I had not tried to extend anything over 38 minutes as it was just futile. Under that yes, or she would just put herself back to sleep. I think we are getting somewhere!  2nd nap was at 3:07 she slept 48 minutes. I went over and handed her her lovey and said "sleepytime" TO my immense surprise she was actually quiet another 7 minutes, but I think she was just slurping on her lovey. GOt her up at next protest. Thinking BT 3.5 hour from now. A 12.5 hour day is not half  bad I suppose.  I am just thrilled that we have gotten 2hr15 minutes day sleep! Yay! That has got to help night time.

Graham definitely had some OT 40-45min naps. His UT ones tended to be 50-55min or 35min. Strange, huh? I sometimes wonder if LOs can wake at any natural transition point in the sleep cycle for different reasons. It could be OT, could be UT, could be discomfort, and the surrounding circumstances are the clues. I may be totally wrong, but that helped me make sense of some strangely timed naps.

Right or wrong Katie, I am starting to agree with you!

SO here's where we are. OUt at 7:28 last night, couple callouts at the 3 hour hump. Silly me stayed up with DH watching a movie but I got 4 hours sleep in before she needed help at 3:30. Then fed at 4:30, up for the day at 6:24.

1st nap was strange ( surprise surprise) Out at 10:06, woke at 10:55. I gave her Pinkey Mouse ( her lovey) and she was quiet another 20 minutes. I am *pretty sure* she was sleeping, I can't see her contentedly slurping on her lovey that long and then being quiet. So she woke again at 11:15 and was pretty cheerful.

Next nap blew up because she pooped as she was rattling around in her crib. That always botches things up.  Laid her down at 2:50 and sure enough, she pooped ( my girl has great timing) She woke at the 28 minute mark and fussed and whined and put herself back to sleep for another 15 minutes which put her waking at 4. She is just all grizzley and eye rubby now. I am thinking I will do BT at 7, maybe that is a dab early but the last part of this day has been so choppy. Sweet girl is so tired now....Hoping she can catch up some tonight, so far ( I know this is early days in a new plan) but we are getting more 11 hour nights than 12. Hope this will turn around soon.

7pm is probably fine for bed just to keep on top of OT.

I think it's worth mentioning that this is a dodgy age and its often impossible to get much more than a 11-11.5 night. They need the longer A time to be tired enough to nap and need the longer naps to cope and the combination of the two to be tired and rested enough to sleep at night if that makes sense. Once you get a good routine with age appropriate A times established then you can really look at having one shorter nap deliberately and a shorter A time at one time of the day and the day will be cut back a bit but until then don't panic about shorter nights.

How's it been going? Xx

WOuldn't you know the little rascal babbled herself right up to 7:17?? OF course. I am surprised, she was sort of falling apart and her SA was really coming out as she was so tired.

This is good to know, now that I think back in the blur that was my son's infancy, this was true with him too. I remember being glad to get 11.

That said, she did almost 12 hours last night! Maybe tacking on from that wretched last nap? Call out at 10:30 and 3:30, I even sat up and then we both went right back to sleep, then fed at 4:45. Then up at 7!!! Yay for some sleep!

10:45 nap was 55 minutes, she was civil upon waking, she has never been one for very sunny wake ups. Headed for 2nd nap here shortly, hope it decent....

2nd nap she woke at 48 minutes, fussed about 2 minutes then back out for another 20. This puts our BT at 8:00!! Wow, seems so late but I know that is OK at this age. Hoping for another night like last night!

FInally! A 1hr 28 minute nap!! ;D ;D. So last night went like this:
Out at 8:00
3:00 I told her it was sleepytime
4:00, gave her Pinkey Mouse
4:42 Fed
7:10 up for the day
10:55 Nap, called out 28 minutes in, shuffled around at 55 but total was 1 hr 28!
12:23Up
4:10, 2nd nap
4:55 Up
8:10 OUt for the night.
By all logical reasoning, should be a decent night, fingers crossed as usual!
Of course this happened on a day where my Mama had her in the morning, I laid her down for the nap though. Had to stop myself from cross examining her to see if there was any magic something she did while I was gone with DS to Kindergarten visiting day ( !!!) that made her sleep like that.  ;) I will just let myself believe things might be falling into place.

A good night, ahhh, I love sleep. Out at 8:10, gave her pinkey mouse at 4:12, fed at 5;15. Up at 7:24.
FIrst nap at 11:15. Burble at 38 mark (could this actually be an UT burble?) Then up and babbling at 55 minutes. Handed her lovey  a couple times but it just seemed silly as she started holding onto the crib rail, dancing, and clucking. If this holds a few more days should I try 3hr55 1st A do you think? Sounds so long!!!
