OK, well last night sucked.2.25 her NW from 2-4:15. Very bleah. I just talked to her from the bed and handed her her lovey then around 4 I went over and rubbed her leg a minute. Then sang to her a minute and out she went. Then I couldn't sleep from 4:25-5:30 as I was so full of milk I was uncomfortable!! ::) Fed her at 5:30, then she slept until 7. 1st nap at 10:45, got a lovely 50 minutes out of her. Think part of this may have been another ill-timed poop, but not sure ( surprise, surprise!) 2nd nap at 2:50 she has been out 30 minutes and I am really hoping for a "decent" 45-1hr, but not getting my hopes up.

I know this is a big change for her. If I have learned anything from this girl it is to give it all some time. DOn't panic and try to fix things before she has settles into the latest and greatest attempt to help her. i.e. new nap schedule, new A's. But yes, just a few questions for you ;D

Should I treat a 1hour nap as a full nap and not reduce her next A or should I treat  a nap under 2 full sleep cycles as "short" and cut off 30 minutes?

If we get some lousy 2nd naps (under 40 minutes) what do you think I should do A wise til BT? Yesterday when I did 2.5 she got done nursing and gave me a huge smile ( could have been an OT buzz but I never know with this girl ??? )  She then babbled and played and then grumbled and played and needed help and what all for an hour!! Any thoughts!?

Thanks :D

I wouldnt cut the next A time unless I got less than a 45 minute nap. And id probably only cut by 30 minutes st most. I think 2.5 hours is too short.

And yes you need to give it a good few days to see if it's going to work. Hope you get a better night xx

Thanks so much. I got a whopping 40 minutes of a 2nd nap. Does 3hr15 to BT sound good? Hope so, DH will get to see her this way! She adores him:)

Hi Maryn

Sorry that I haven't been around-whole house has been sick with the flu. And sorry that things haven't been working out so well. I just wanted to ask you about the hour naps though-do you feel that 1 hour naps are not enough for her? You seem to be trying to get more than that but if she is now doing even less than that, I'm wondering if hour naps are sufficient for her at this stage. :/ Just wondering out loud.

Also, can she go to sleep completely independently? If not, do you think that it may be effecting her ability to transition through sleep cycles?

Hi Smurfette, sorry to hear you have been feeling yucky! I wonder if her 1 hr naps are enough too, guess if this really doesn't turn out we will know!

She does go sleep completely indpendently. The extent of my involvement if she does need me is to hand her her lovey, tell her the sleepy phrase and then leave the room.  Thanks for checking on me, speedy healing vibes to you and your LO's. ANy thoughts always welcome.

Well that's awesome on the independent front.

When she's having those long NWs-do you feel they're from OT? Developmental? Does she need you to stay in the room with her the whole time?

Last night I am pretty sure was from having 1hr6 minutes day sleep all day. The longs NW's have typically been from really bad day sleep, SUnday nights when we are out can be rough.

Last night I was sleeping in the twin bed in the nursery across the room just talking to her if she got worked up. From time to time I would go over and lay her down and hand her her lovey. She is pulling up like crazy but I let her sort it out in her bed unless she is needing help.  I know she can get down if she wants to.

I am not sure right now if there is not some developmental stuff going on. She is crawling all over, pulling up like I said and even though she has these tiny silly feet, cruising may not be that far off! When she does something she doesn't mess around!

Aw! So cute! Well, from all that physical stuff, she is going to be getting more tired in the day, so IIWM, I would be careful about stretching her too long in the day, but that's just me. ;)

It feels like she has this a bit already. She was out at 7 after 15 minutes of burbling and a couple low level grumbles. She had a call out at 11:00, then I resettled at 3:30. Took about 20 minutes. Then fed at 5:30. Up at 6;30. WHen she was nursing she was more wiggley and noisy, maybe this was her having already done 10.5 hours but she has acted like this after long days before...We will tread carefully, I really wonder if she will do more than an hour but maybe now she can really handle the longer A's that we were doing before. THanks.

A decent nap!!!A sort of weird one, but hey,we will take what we can get! Up at 6:24. Asleep for 2nd nap at 10:05 I laid her down at 10:02 thinking she might need more time to go off but no, a few babbles and then out. She woke 46 minutes later and just sounded so mad I listened a minute and then she whacked her head on the crib so I went over to her, gave her a kiss and then laid her down with her lovey, said her sleepy phrase and she slept another 30 minutes! Yay! FINALLY! Not saying it's all fixed but I celebrate each minute of sleep this girl gets! So going for another 3hr45, next nap will be at 3:10. Wow, that sounds so late! Hoping it is not a "26 minute special"
