He has bad reflux but medication didn't help so there's no telling if that's it or not either.

Oh hun, if this is he case you need to get him back to the doctor or to a doctor who will listen and help

I will be back when the kiddos are in bed  :-*

I'm back :)

Do you suspect his reflux is flaring from teething still?  Does he have a lot of drool?  I know in your other thread you mentioned that everything was ok until recently, so it may be that he needs some meds or change in diet if its intolerance related to get through this reflux flare.  Just because he was med free and things were going ok doesnt mean that he wont need meds or a thickener for his feeds when circumstances change, yk?  I would make an appointment with the doctor about it because it seems to be going on long enough to be more than just a short flare up of his reflux.

On a side note, I cant believe those doctors (actually I can, there are some horrible ones out there), honestly if he was diagnosed with reflux but didnt respond well to the meds but was still having problems, then I would think a change in meds would be the next step OR investigating the possibility that the reflux is being caused by intolerances.  I would say babies grow out of spitting up, you know those happy spitters that dont have reflux...babies with reflux dont necessarily grow out of the reflux because its acid coming up that is irritating them, not just their formula/breastmilk, if that makes sense.

Thank you so much Tink! I have made an appintment for Monday morning to see his pediatrician- I just want them to double check and make sure all is good.

His two bottom teeth came in but today he seemed extra drooly and showing teething signs again, so maybe more are coming in?

Yesterday he showed some huge improvement with naps so I'm over the moon and hopeful it will continue!! Since he napped well, he's eaten better and been much less fussy so I'm hoping all this recent and strange behavior was all from OT...

It's probably a mix of everything... OT, teeth and reflux!  Hopefully now the teeth are through it'll help with the reflux and discomfort from both (glad you have a dr appt though). If teething causes flare ups the paediatrician definitely needs to come up with a plan B because there are a whole lot more of them to come!

Glad you had a good day anyway, what A times did you go with?
Emma

I did jinx myself....ugh!
He woke as soon as I posted that and started crying and couldn't resettle. I think he was actually hungry though because he pounded his bottle in record time once I got him up.

I guess another EBT of 6:00 pm again...
We haven't done a CN in a long time now so hopefully that's helping his adjust to 2 naps.

Yes, I'm glad about going to the doctor Monday as well. It'll at least make me feel better to get him looked at.

I did 3 hours for this morning A and about 2.50 for second A. I think he can handle an A push but I'm going to wait until I get home to start that. He is probably getting OS here with his grandpa so I don't wana to push him too much!

Glad to hear things are improving,  despite a little set back yesterday.  I found things settled down quicker once I stopped offering the cat nap so hopefully you're not too far off now. I also offered top up feeds before the afternoon nap for a while (cos that was the one he sometimes seemed hungry for), just so j knew if he was waking early it wasn't hunger related.

Our journey back was ok thanks - ended up in 2 short afternoon naps and a very long day. Yesterday's morning nap was good - ironically he needed an A time push to sort that one - but his afternoon nap is still short. I *think* he needs an A time push there as well but it just feels wrong after a week of such terrible sleep.  But shorter A times aren't doing him any favours either so it's worth a go I guess!

Glad you made it home safely!

I am right there with you on the A push. I'm going to try tomorrow and see how it changes things after a few days. Keep me posted on your progress!

I will also try feeding him more before his pm nap so I can also rule out hunger if he wakes early.

I'm about to leave to go home now- hoping for a scream free drive!

Hi Emma! The trip wasn't that bad- no screaming until we got close to our home and he was fine once he saw his daddy ;)

I am trying an A push for the am today and hoping to see some progress in the next few days. We've had wicked NW the past 2 nights....not fun. It was taking over 30 min to settle him from crying. The early am wakings, I caved and fed hoping to get a later wakeup, but that didn't happen- serves me right ;)

We've consistently been skipping the CN and only doing EBT so I'm hoping that he's still trying to adjust and once I bump his As consitantly, then the NW will stop and our naps will extend a bit...

Can a long A time before bed cause NWs?

Definitely!  Too long A before bed can cause nws or ews, which is why it is better to do ebt, even if they dont tack on and do asuper long night at least with ebt they wont be ot and have nws.

Thanks for the quick reply Tink!!

Yikes...I bet that's what's causing the NWs then. I have been trying to push out BT a bit and he seems fine and happy before bed so I didn't think much of it. I was going up to 4 hours A before bed and our A time now is about 3.10 so I'm thinking that last A is too far long.

He woke from second nap at 2:45 (it was a lousy 50 min nap with a resettling in the middle) so ill do 6:00pm BT at the latest; that sound about right?

How's your 3-2 going at the moment?

Could someone refresh my memory on how to correctly do an A push??
