My cousin gave Kelsey a pair of Robeez at Thanksgiving, but they are way to big and she trips over the excess.  I'm going to get the non-skid socks and look for the Robeez in a smaller size.  Julie, didn't you find a generic brand at Target?

A generic brand of Robeez? I must have missed that conversation.  If there is one, let us know Julie.  :D I'm all for the generic brands, especially this close to Christmas.

Target has a generic brand of Robeez.  They are not with the shoes though, they are on the baby aisle with the onesies and such.  It took me forever to find them!

Julie - Sorry to hear you got sick on your trip, but it sounds like you guys had a good time.

On throwing food from the high chair - Maya does this too, and it drives me nuts.  I actually got upset with dh because he was making light of it.  We sternly tell her no, that we do not throw food on the floor.  After the third time, we take her tray away which is very stressful for me given her weight gain issues.  I don't want to take away her food if I think I can get her to eat more, but at the same time, I think we ought to be setting ground rules now.

Christine - Maya cannot sleep with us either.  Sometimes we try to bring her into our bed on the weekends to geta few extra minutes of snuggle time, but she just wants to stick her fingers up dh's nose and pull my hair.

Kate
- I am going to check out your solids post.

Tarri
- I got Maya started on pulling up by sitting her on a short stool so she didn't have as far to pull up.  First she pulled up on me, then on her activity table.

Heather - Don't you hate that baby stuff (activity centers, tables, etc) are so lightweight that they can knock them down trying to pull up on them?  We have some stuff like that, and it drives me nuts.  Maya has a little music table she has pulled down on herself several times.

She has also been in the big tub since about 9mos, but inside an inflatable duck.  Someone gave it to us, and I didn't think much of it at first, but Maya loves it.  And dh said it makes bathing her easier as there is not as much danger of her slipping and hitting her head.  I think her first real word is going to be duck.

And Hanes makes non-skid socks too.  I've seen them at WalMart.

Deb
- I think some people have already suggested this, but I would try to extend the 2nd A time a bit, esp if she sleeps 1.5hr in the AM.  Maya goes down for her AM nap about 9:15-9:30am, sleeps about an hour, then goes down for her PM nap at 2pm.  And we had the same experience as Christine - if she goes to bed at 8pm, she is up at 6am.  If she goes down at 7:30pm, she is up around 7am.  When I get 11.5 hours at night, naps aren't so good.  When she sleeps only 10 hours at night, the naps are great the next day.  I'm trying to decide which is more important to me.  And we have next to no winddown now.

Flat head - Maya is showing some improvement, though it's hard to say whether any of it is due to the helmet or not, since she has rarely worn it due to all the fit issues.

Kate - I would try to extend the 2nd A time as well.

Joanne - We give Advil at night and Tylenol during the day as necessary.  We have also tried Orajel while waiting for the painkillers to kick in.  During the day, I try to distract her with teethers before giving her any medication.

Hazel - Maya recently bit a pacifier in two while teething.  About 10min into her nap, she started screaming hysterically.  Dh brought her out and I noticed something in her mouth.  When I fished it out, it was the latex part of the pacifier!  She swallowed a small piece of it, but luckily we got to her before she choked on the larger part.  And Maya has pooed in the tub too, but sadly for dh, it was kind of "loose".

Jaime - Congrats on the weight loss.

Ahh, the nap is over...  I'll be back.

I have them and really like them. They stay on well. Leah can somehow get the Old Navy 12-24 month ones off her feet.

I saw the Robeez-like shoes at Target, and am hoping brother will get them for her for Christmas.  Target did not seem to have any non-skid socks, so I will check at Wal-mart.  Kelsey has tiny feet.  She wears 0-6 in most socks or they come right off.
Deborah-that is so scary about the paci!  I'm so paranoid about every little thing (literally  ).  I constantly check her clothes for anything hazardous, and all toys (especially since Hazel's story I think) for loose parts.  But the paci just goes in the mouth without a second thought.  I'll be sure to check them carefully now and keep buying new ones every so often.

hi all - i won't have the computer today as Dh is taking it to work... but want to get on quickly and say hi.

Christine - have fun with the pulling up - it is certainly an adventure!

Heather - Olivia has always been in the big bath from day 1 - we used a reclining plastic seat insert for the first 6 mo or so but since she was sittig well (by 7 mo) she is just in the bath with alex - these days she stands up endlessly ("olivia - SIT DOWN" is a constant refrain in bath time now) and even dive bombs for toys and does not mind that she has gone face first into the water ...~ and wanted to say good job chiming in on EASY board threads I think you shoudl consider becoming a moderator next go-around which i think is in the new year. we could use another hand on this board at times.

better get off now.

Deb, that is so kind of you to say.  I really enjoy "problem-solving" for others even though I don't feel quite that adequate most of the time.
Anyway, since you mentioned it, I went to bed thinking of you last night!!  Nooooo, not like that.  After looking over some of those posts in the EASY forum, I thought about how much effort you are putting into helping these moms and I thought YOU should be thanked.  On top of all else that you have to contend with you are doing such a great service to moms in need.  I was going to send you a PM, but thought I'd share with everyone.  This goes for all you moderators-great job and thanks!!!

i wouldn't worry about being an "expert" - i'd wager that most of us aren't   at least, i know i'm not!!     but i know that if someone can benefit from what i went through, it's worth it.  you never know if you'll like it - and if not, Laura lets you quit after 3 months!

gee, i think that sounded a little too "used-car salesman" like.

btw, Deb, i agree with Heather - i think your answers are amazing.  course, i am always thankful when you grab those questions about spirited babies on the sleep boards!!!  :D

Flippin' eck, the tantrums are getting worse!  Honestly he had one today that lasted for about 5 mins.  In the end I had to just lay him on the floor and leave him to it.  When I tried to hold him he just went wild  He is over tired it seems.  Once I got him into bed for his afternoon nap he was fine (that was after only 2hours of activity!)

He has also decided to start spitting food back out again when he doesn't want it.  He has NEVER refused food before.  So we don't know what to do with him now!  He seems to only want to eat pureed food today (or at least really mushy).  I made him a pasta dish for tea and he kept sucking each mouthful and then spitting out the pasta :?   I know I shouldn't panic  but seriously what should I do?  Should I just offer him the mushy food and nothing else or should I see if he wants something pureed style.  I don't want him to get used to only eating pureed food.  Then again he's only 10.5 months.  But then I guess this is where feeding probs start (is it?)  Any advice?

Happy Daniel news - Yesterday he finally started walking with us holding his hands.  I've said before that he has always been happy to stand but it's like his feet are glued to the floor.  Yesterday and today though he has started stepping.  Soo cute to see his little feet going for it!

We also decorated a T shirt for dh's Christmas pressie tonight.  My sis and mum helped.  We painted Daniel's feet and he made a footprints on a white t shirt.  Then I wrote "My daddy's a walk-over" on it.  It really looks soooo sweet.

Must go to bed now.  I am so tired.

Christine/Heather: Yes, what Tammy said, generic Roobez at Target in the baby onesie isle.  $13, take your baby with you to try on.  The sizing on the back runs small, I had to return the first pair I got.  But they've been great for us.

    Same with Asher, Deborah!

Re: Duck tub...I have several friends with the blow up Duck tub from Target and they all rave about it.  $10 in the baby bath isle by munchkin, I believe.  They don't have to be sitting up yet, they can lean against the back and the bottom is non-skid so they don't slide down.

Hazel-I, too, have to just leave Kelsey on the floor sometimes if she's throwing a fit.  Oh, and what a cute idea for the t-shirt.  He ought to just love it!
I can't help you with the food problem as Kelsey still doesn't eat many textured foods.  However, tonight I put my chicken/veggie/rice meal I made in the crock pot in the blender and she actually ate some of it.  She didn't seem to love it, but didn't hate it either.  Of course, she had already eaten dinner, so she may have been too full.  I actually froze some and will try again tomorrow.  It made me feel so good to do that for her!

Hazel - could Daniel be getting more teeth perhaps?  I wouldn't panic and just let him have the pureed food for now, I'm sure he'll come round again.  Sounds like he is gaining a lot of new skills at the moment, which may explain his frustration levels going up...?  I love the sound of the T-shirt btw!

I see a top tooth about to emerge for us which is, I guess, the reason for a miserable day yesterday, a relapse into multiple waking last night and no going down for morning nap (that's a first).  Standing up to hurl her lovey across the room while bawling at the top of her lungs is the new trick.  For some reason, she can crash and bash around all day without batting an eyelid but she's made a real meal of every tooth so far - and we haven't even started on the molars yet!  No luck with extending the 2nd nap yet but I'll persist and I'm sure it will come...

Kate - Guess it could be some more teeth coming.  We've had no teeth now for nearly 4 months which has been WONDERFUL.

I think Daniel is just too busy these days to want to eat!  He has started to do so many new things, plus my parents are now with us (for him to play with :D ), there are Christmas decorations all over the place and so much more to take in.  I am guessing this is what is making him play up a bit.  We've also had a few really busy days and he is still catching up on his sleep.

The T-shirt printing last night was soooo funny.  I will try to post some pictures of the finished t shirt - I can't believe it worked so well actually.  I was expecting him to just scrunch his feet up and make a blob on the fabric, but he played along really well. :)   I know dh will love it.

Jusspress - I just love all the clips of all your lo's.  They are all so amazing.  I am just facinated at how much they all pull up and move about.  Daniel moves but not like most of your lot   :D
