Well....

He was asleep at 6.30pm
I heard him at 2.55am and my heart sank as he was talking - HOWEVER it must've been in his sleep!!  I lay there awake to see and he must've been asleep - I kept checking!!
I next heard him at 6.45am this morning but the chances are he'd woken before - he's usually quiet for a bit
So I'm thinking (unless of course I didn't hear him) he slept a 12hr night  :o  :o

However, he was barely wet when I took his nappy off this morning and I know that sometimes helps - is that to do with his age do you think and getting better at staying dry at night?

I know I have to be a bit careful cos Lucy had great nights for a bit with Daisy then things got crazy but if I can get him to at least sleep through then that'd be a start!

I expect him to have another 20/30min catnap again today, so we shall see.

I'm knackered though!  I couldn't sleep after I heard him at 2.55am just waiting...

Yay Laura that is fab! Must have been something in the water last night, DD slept 12 hours 40 mins without waking (her record is 11 hours and that has only happened a handful of times) after a 30 min nap at my MIL's! Got me really questioning if I should be cutting her nap too! No doubt today will be a disaster now ;)
Good luck for today hope you have another great night :-*

Yay!!!! Well done for being so brave on chopping that nap. Seems to have done the trick. Fingers crossed he'll keep this up!

When my friend's LO got to the stage of having only 15-20min catnaps she found that it didn't matter so much what time he napped at. She just let him fall asleep in the car/buggy or even on the sofa and woke him after 20mins. It could have been anytime between 10am and 4pm but it didn't affect his nights once she kept it short. Maybe that would work for you too instead of having to settle him in his cot for such a short nap.

Yay again!!

that's great news!!! i hope you can get a repeat, so you can get some rest yourself!

do you have a video monitor? i know it's a bit late at this point - but I love ours. If I hear DD, I just look at her and see if she's asleep. With the regular monitor, I would sit forever, straining to hear and decipher what was going on in there!

Yes we have a video monitor - which is great although I guess that's probably how I know how long he is awake in the night!  Often he is quite quiet so it's hard to tell!

Laura, that is so great!!  BTW, I totally know the feeling of not being able to go back to sleep because you are just watching the monitor and waiting for the next NW.

Please can you all keep your fingers crossed for another good night.

DS had 20mins nap at 3pm ish.  I don't know whether I should throw in a 30/40min nap in his cot tomorrow or whether I should just stick at this for a good few days.  On the plus side he was a lot less grumpy tonight although he did look tired :(

Tomorrow - thoughts please...

Do I - do as I have been, 20mins around 3pm OR assume he probably needs some sort of catch up sleep and offer 40mins at 12.30pm or something?  I don't want to push it...  :-\

I'd stick with what you're doing unless/until you get clear signs of OT.

Bad night... like what is a "normal" night for us.

NW at 3.30am and TBH I have no idea for how long or what time he woke this morning...  I don't know whether it's because he had a 12hr night (provided he actually did) the night before with a 20min catnap who knows....

I'm stuck for today and don't know what to do.  I feel I should really try and stick with limited nap but not sure how I'll get him through the day.

However given my thread is 15 pages long  :o  I thought I'd better lock this one and start a new one about nap cutting...

Please please come and support me there - I need you girls!
