well we ended up giving him some milk and he went to sleep after that at around 2.50am! then woke at 5.20am, put himself back to sleep and up for the day at 5.50am. hes hardly eaten any breakfast, thats the one meal he polishes off no matter whats happening, plus ive checked his temperature and its 38 degrees, so a bit of a fever and hes grinding his teeth. hes rubbing his eyes like mad and looks so tired, its only been 2 hours since hes woken up though. obviously there is something not right, sounds like teeth though huh?  which makes me the bad guy if they are this bad for him that hes off his breakfast.

Guess im staying home tonight....

Jo he's likely not going to go back to sleep, if you can get a CN in the car or something - if not then you just do what you can.  I know how hard it is, hugs my friend, cry if you need to.  I don't get how these boys can be on opposite ends of the globe and causing so much havoc in 2 different places!

Just a question, can you put some really loud white noise on for him to drown out that dog?  With his illness even a cool mist humidifier will help and the noise may drown out the dog.
The tweaking never stops!

A CN sounds like a good idea if you can, or even a walk in the pram for some quiet time for both of you. I walked HEAPS when DD was doing 45min naps every day. It's hard to entertain a toddler for 11 or 12 hours a day

Agreed, I walked TONS when DD was a toddler. Of course then I also lived in NYC at that time and walked to my office, the grocery store, park, everywhere. But it totally helped - calmed her (and me) when she was teething or cranky or needed a CN or just for us both to zone out a little. It's not as easy now for me to walk as much with DS - I live in the burbs now, am somewhat beholden to DD's needs (she doesn't want to/can't walk everywhere, etc) but weather permitting I try to get him out in the stroller at least once a day for 25-45 minutes...

HUGS!

a canine just cut through the gum as we were eating lunch, he cried like a baby and started making pushing noises like he was giving birth~! then i looked in his mouth and the canine that wasnt there this mroning had just cut through.

am gonna do a catnap in the car later.
am still gonna try and go out, have told the babysitter that she will need to pat him if he wakes.... dear lord im not gonna be able to relax tonight!

Wendy, we do have white noise on during his nap, for that reason only. thing is the dogs barking is louder than the white noise, no matter how loud i have it, its a big dog with a big bark

Good on you for going out- I think having some time out will do you good. Besides the babysitter might be a novelty for him and he may not play up for her.

OUCH on the canine (but at least it's through now). Have fun tonight and definitely do a dose of Tylenol maybe 3 hours before his bedtime and then ibuprofen at bedtime?

ok i know im posting alot but i just feel like im going insane here. all day hes just been crying and whining and throwing fits. hes got some SA i can see that but my goodness he is SO TIRED!! his eyes are puffy red and he just keeps cracking tantrums left right and centre, but he wont fall asleep. ive medicated him till i can medicate no more, ive dont teething gel, ive done homeopathic lollipops. ive done cuddling but he doesnt want me to leave his side. it literally feels like hes become this demonchild. hes been passing wind like crazy.

its only 4.30pm and he looks like he could go to bed right now. thing is this happened yesterday and we did an early bedtime of 5.50pm and we still got NW's and the rest of it

so he went to bed at 6pm, refused dinner, refused bedtime bottle, refused story, just watned bed. then at 6.50pm he woke up.... its now 7.50pm and ive just gotten back from driving him round to get him to fall back to sleep. Im exhausted. needless to say i sent the babysitter home. Caleb was literally inconsolable. I know hes in an OT loop now but i cant get him out of it and these long NW's ( which i didnt expect him to wake up so soon for this evening) are not helping, plus the short 1 hour naps that i get if i put him down early, but he just cant make it to his normal A time.

what else is there to do here? Im sitting at home alone, DH has gone to the party and I just want to begin crying all over again. i now have to go and take all my makeup off, i never wear makeup so this is a big thing for me to put it on, and have some dinner. I havent even been able to eat aand its 8pm!

I think i made thigns worse last night doing WI/WO because the SA today was ridiculous. there was nothin i could all day without him crying. he wouldnt eat without sitting on my lap, I couldnt get dressed, go to the toilet etc now i know that part of that is normal but he was pulling me down to his height, then grabbing my neck, wrapping his arms around me and hanging on for dear life..... did i do this?????

wow what a tough night and day Jo! big big hugs! Don't think that it's your fault, obviously this tooth is really really bothering him. The fact that he has a temperature, won't eat etc shows that it's way more than just SA.
Did he not do a catnap then? if you put him down earlier in the am is there anyway he'd agree to a pm nap as well?
Sorry I don't really have any helpful advice :( Cry all you need to, sometimes  there just doesn't seem to be a solution and we just have to ride it out :( tmrw could your DH stay at home with him and you go out for a couple hours? You need some Y time!

nope, no catnap, we did try but he just cried the whole way..... perhaps we shouldve tried harder. Im too scared to do an earlier nap, we did that today and got a 1 hour nap. today went like this

A 5.50am
S 10.45 - 11.45
bed 6pm

when hes not OT, teething, sick etc his normal A time is 5.5 hours so i did drop it a bit today

its 9.30 and he woke again at 9.15pm, i went in and patted him back to sleep, hes still passing alot of wind, and to be honest so am I, ive been running to the toilet too, so perhaps he and I have eaten something thats upset our tummies as well... I dont know, i feel like im looking for reasons for all this and finding waaaay too many
