Lan, no hes on a broad spectrum antibiotic.

his cough isnt as bad at the moment and for the first time in 4 days he actually had his bedtime milk. he had a 1 hour 10min nap today which is better than the 40min nap yesterday. then tonight he woke at the same time hes woken for the past four nights at 6.50pm but he put himself back to sleep, he usually needs our help here, then he woke an hour later, i went in and he had rolled onto his back (we gave him a pillow today so obviously hes not worked out that he can roll back onto his tummy??) so i quickly gave him pain relief which he was due for and rolled him back onto his tummy and left and he went back to sleep!! that in itself is a success!!!!!!

I will def keep an eye on the cough though, we are seeing the maternal child and health nurse tomorrow for his 18 month check up so will get her to check him out as well, shes fantastic.

we took him out today to the gardens, i figured the fresh air and sun would actually help him, he LOVED it, it did tire him out a bit quicker though but I just thought hes been stuck inside the house for the past two weeks and hes a boy that loves the outdoors.

looking back at the past few days, ive been a mess, i couldnt see clearly at all, what a wreck!!! im feeling alot better today, but it really reminded me just how important all the support we have and give and get from the BW community is and Im so thankful I have it here with you all :) when i talked to some other people about what i was going through they just didnt get it..... You ladies do :D

My ABs for my sinus infection only started working yesterday, it was the first day I was pain free.  It takes a while sometimes.  The pharmacy actually called to check up on me and the pharmacist told me that even though my last pill was last night (it was a 5 day course) it would still be in my system for several days after.  So that comforted me.  Maybe it just took some time for Caleb's to kick in and he'll continue to have them in his system until the infection has totally cleared.

I think in addition to the support from everyone here, sleep makes a huge difference.  Trading off with DH and getting that good night of sleep for yourself allows you to better care for Caleb and keep perspective :-)

I'm glad he's feeling better Jo!

I'm glad you're both feeling better!  I hope it was a case of his antibiotics just taking time to kick in and get into his system...hopefully his 18 mo appt goes well tomorrow :-*

another great night for me!!! a not so great night for DH, apparantly Caleb woke up twice and took an hour to get back to sleep each time, so after an early bedtime it only works out to be a 10 hour night again..

I dont know whether its a success that he only woke twice last night or not, the other night he woke 5 times but only took 5 mins to get back to sleep each time

Did i mention the second canine cut through yesterday and the third is pushing hard, can see the white spot on the gums
egads the poor kid!

So today im taking my spirited extrovert child to a playgroup, hes been home so much im sure he needs the interaction badly!

I assume he's medicated to the hill at night?  Did your DH have to medicate when he woke - cos they can take a while to kick in?

actually no, last night he had the nurofen at bedtime and no pain relief till bedtime tonight! i thought he was coping quite well today without it and ive medicated so darn much in the past month i was really wanting to try one day without it, he wasnt too bad, did wake up from his nap three times needing help to go back to sleep so obviously still needs the pain relief. he has the third canine pushing through so i think i will do a dreamfeed med at 10.30pm and hope for the best for Dh, im having another night off!! yahoo!!!!!

Also with the meds you kinda need to keep them ticking over rather than stop start as then they *seem* to take longer to work again kwim?  I'd get your DH to do meds if he wakes tonight and lucky you getting another night off!!  I hate giving meds all the time too - but he is ill and got horrid horrid canines coming so it's really ok. ;)

I'm glad you're feeling better and catching up with sleep.
I "made" myself have a nap today when DD was napping :)

Sounds like these teeth have a lot to answer for!

Hugs and hope things continue to improve :)

ok, now im a bit stuck, i gave him dreamfeed nurofen at 11pm last night, then DH said he woke at 1am and 3am for an hour each time so again it was only a 10 hour night.... so whats with these two wakings lasting an hour each???

How do you think he is health wise now - excluding sleep I mean?  Do you think he is better or still unwell?

to be honest hun i dont know, hes got major major SA at the moment, he still has a bit of a cough and he has these meltdowns taht I KNOW are the canines. hes in alot of pain with those, medicated or not.

His A time is still really low, around 3 hours A time he starts not being able to handle much of anything, so today i put him to bed at 3.5 hours A time and he needed a little help as he was already OT!!!! then he slept 1 hour, woke up crying in pain, i patted him back to sleep and he slept another 20mins, so def not UT, but that meant that the nap was over at 11.30am and he fell asleep 3 hours later in teh car, but woke up on the transfer to the bed and refused to sleep any longer, its a long day on one nap when the A time is so low.

So basically ive got the A time of a 7 month old but hes so used to one nap a day now that we cant get another nap into him!

I really think he needs to be checked out again by the doc?  It's been going on far too long and he's normally an excellent sleeper and having short A times would indicate he's still poorly too.

Does APOP work with Caleb?  - I mean could you drive around for the second nap or push him in the buggy?
