Charli - when you say no nap do you mean you keep them awake - or is it if they grab 10mins in the car that's fine?

Quick vote please - do I try 45mins naps for a week or try the nap/no nap idea...  bearing in mind we have teeth cutting and this damn leg seems to be playing up again :(

I have found with dd1 particularly that she doesn't do well with alternating - all or nothing for this girl!  So if it were one of mine, I would go with 45 min nap for a while before trying the alternating thing.

Yeah try shorter first - save the nap if you can but only if nights get better

Well today my mum gave him an hour nap at 12.30pm - so an hr later than normal.  He had massive bags under his eyes when I got in from work and it took him 40mins to settle to sleep.

I feel so fed up TBH, I'm sick of long settling at bed and a boy who clearly needs more sleep I don't know what to do anymore :(

I don't know if I should be cutting the nap ???

hey Laura, what time did you put O to sleep after the short nap?  Should we make bedtime earlier? or at the same time?  DS is also having lots of funny tricks at bedtime and he knows he's tired but he wants us to put a hand on his belly till he falls asleep or he screams for more milk.  I think it's just teeth.  They seem to need so much energy to grow these teeth.  i should go to bed and prepare for the bad night again.   hugss to you!  xx

Yep and it was a bad night - several wakings and lots of yelling :(  I really can't cope :(

Lily - bedtime was the same sort of time...

hugss Laura!!!  we had the same.  i did give nurofen.  When are you starting to try out melatonin but it would only help with falling asleep.  There's other med to help with sleeping through.

Haven't heard from the health visitor yet.  What other meds do you know to help with sleeping through - just so I'm armed lol!!

Glad I'm not the only one who gets the yelling - I'll have to look in the mouth again as last time he did that he'd actually cut a tooth yay!!!

Yes this is my confusion with melatonin...because it's more to regulate the Circadian rhythm is it not?  That's why it is used for jet lag etc.  But not sure how it would help LO to stay asleep or stop cutting their night short...

(((hugs Laura)))

me neither :-\

The more I think about it the more I am convinced that either this is related to DS's medical condition OR that he's in some sort of discomfort - just not sure what. :(

Laura - I know you've tried homeopathics in the past without success but there are some really good homeopathic sleep aids. Check out the links here - we've used some of them with DD to success (at one point we were giving her Calms Forte 4 Kids nightly), as well as some Flower Remedies. Were you ever able to check out chiropractics either?
