The weird bit of advice from the sleep consultant was to have her go to sleep without her dummy, but then put her Sleepytot (plush bunny with velcro paws) with ONE dummy attached into her cot once she is asleep. Sounds really confusing but the theory is then she has double the chances of getting back to sleep - she knows how to go to sleep without the dummy, or she can grab the Sleepytot and go back to sleep with the dummy. Makes a little more sense that way.
We had to rule out all the environmental stuff. After that it was just being consistent. Being sure not to go to her too soon, and when I did go to her, not to intervene if she was showing ANY signs of trying to settle herself. I spent a lot of nights lying on their bedroom floor just saying 'shush now Audrey, lie down' periodically, when she started to escalate. I really didn't believe it was working until last week when she slept through for the first time, but then she did it again the next two nights in a row. I honestly don't know what 'clicked' for her. Is E fed overnight still?
Our routine is roughly...
7.15am awake
10am nap (usually 1.5-2hrs, sometimes less)
3pm nap (usually 30-60mins)
6.30-7pm asleep for the night (depending on naps)
4.30-5.30am feed (I will go in and feed her at 5.15am if she hasn't woken naturally. If she wakes before 4am I resettle without feeding).
