Ugh yes days when the second nap starts before 1PM suck big time!! :(

I just put him down after 3h15 of A time, it took everything to stretch him, we'll see what kind of nap that gives us.

These solids were supposed to be fun and solve all our LO's reflux issues.  Far from that huh......

Solids ever helped Z, I think they made him worse some days :( I wish I held off longer in hindsight (we started at 4 mths as drs advice)

How did the night go?

How did the night go?

We had a 1h NW from 10:15 to 11:15 but the rest of the night was good. As Jenn was saying, probably looks like discomfort, we did start solids again yesterday, he had one full serving of pears.

3h15 = 1h30 nap this morning

I just put him down, 3h25 of A time, he does not look tired at all, we'll see what happens... he is having lots of trouble settling :(

:) for the 1hr 30 min nap.  Hope the second one went well.

Funny about the solids.  They've been nothing but grief here though it's helped J fill out a bit.  He was looking a little too scrawny.  With DD, solids were great.  No issues as all and was eating our foods quite early on with no intolerances.  Meanwhile, with DS I never know what a new food will do to him.

Hope the second one went well.

1h10 for the second nap. He woke crying, but is now very happily playing by himself. Heard a whimper at 30 minutes.  I'm guessing UT what do you think?

How did the day go for you Jenn?

When we get the mid nap wake ups its usually discomfort of some sort.  We had a crazy 2nd nap.  Had to wake him at 2hr 40mins!!!!  He was so cranky and fussy beforehand I thought for sure it would be 30 mins but I guess he was so exhausted he slept through.

Wow yay for that second nap!!! Did the night go well?

I'm thinking we might need a PPI that we can give twice a day - with Nexium we only give it once, and yesterday I started giving it at night so I feel that we may have unsettled naps in the following few days  :-\ With solids we seem to get more silent reflux.

Elise - my paed told me to give the Nexium in the morning.  He said it was very important to give it in the morning as stomach acid is less active at night anyways but very active during the day.

Interesting about giving it in the morning.  J is on omeprazole so it might be different.  My friend is a pharmacist and she said to give it 30 mins before the biggest meal.

Hmmm weird I did ask the pharmacist and they said it didn't matter really, but that giving it before the biggest meal was ideal.  :-\

We still seem to be struggling with the PM nap.  DH was with DS today, he went for 3h10 of A time (yesterday was 3h25) and we got again a 1h15 nap (with 1 min crying at 45 minutes), with a very unhappy wake up.  Wondering if he does need a lesser A time in the PM than in the AM and I should go for 3h?

He did almost 1h40 for his first nap so that part's good.

I find it really hard to figure out the PM A time too.  Yesterday he was in meltdown by 3hs and could not calm him at all.  Put him down crying and fell asleep at 3hrs 15mins.  Had to wake him after 1.5hrs.  Think he would have slept for a lot longer otherwise.

I think the type of activity makes a difference in A time.  I find if he's really active the whole period and not a lot of quiet activities, like riding in the stroller or car, he needs a shorter A time.

Oh you're so right on that Jenn.  Lately we let M be on the floor a lot because he wants to learn to crawl and is very frustrated by it. So we try not to 'rescue' him and let him work on it. So I guess that might make him more tired. I think I'll try a shorter A in the PM tomorrow to see (can't today have a dr's appointment in the PM).

I find every day is different.  So hard to figure out.  I pretty much just go from 3hrs onward.  Some days he's beyond calming by 3hrs and others he's happy as a clam at 3hrs 15 or more.  Doesn't make it easy for us mums to figure out when to put them down!

Yep! But for me, I know I can't go below 3h15, even if he looks tired. I've tried it in the past and always got short naps. Now this morning, he was tired after 2h. Yawning and all. Stretched him to 3h15 and got a 2h15 nap out of him! Which was great bc we went to the doctor's so now we are back and he's just due for his 2nd nap. Will have to cap it though as it's already 3!
