I say try to get the CN in but if it doesn't work out do EBT, even SEBT. I would do 545. I know it's scary!! My LO NEVER tacked on but now when I do one nap if I do BT early enough then I get 12hrs and even a bit more. I would go for it once and give it a try, you may be surprised!

Ok thanks. I'm in class tonight so my babysitter is home and will try the CN from like 4:45 to 5:15. If not we'll do BT at 6.

That's what I always do... If dd doesn't get long enough one nap, I try to do a cn; however she hasn't been taking it at all lately so we do 6 pm bt and amazingly she will sleep until 7 am! Good luck!

This will be his first night ever in one nap. He's really young for one. Babysitter put him down late at 630 so A of 5hrs. So we'll see.

Our night was a disaster!
Bt at 0745, woke at 2 and was awake until 0345! I gave meds at 3 thinking by then that it must be teeth. The he woke again at 0600, resettled and was up for the day at 0620! The meds should have been still working then so why the hell is he waking so early! Yesterday we had a nap of 1hr50 and a 30 min CN and we get 8hr45 of sleep!?!?! I can't figure this guy out! He is so tired! (And so am I!!!!!) I am officially loosing my mind!

Hugs, long NWs like that were often teeth here. OR, could be OT - in the 2-1 we had happy NWs that confused me because they seemed like UT behaviour but they were really OT. Anyway, I would still count the night length from BT-WU - so it's 10.5hrs, but disrupted. What's the plan for today?

Looking at that day, I'd be more inclined to think teeth, if they seem to be moving. And I don't think I'd bother trying for a catnap today with such a great nap and just go for the early bedtime - maybe 6pm?

Not that I'm an expert but I do recall early in the night wakings like that are usually OT. They are for sure with my LO. He rarely has them but when he does it's ether discomfort/illness or OT from a bad nap day. Papaya maybe you could take a look at mine? Yesterday>
W: 7:25
S:11:25
W:1:25
Refused CN at 4:30
BT 6:30 (wanted 6 but Babysitter didn't do it. :/)
He woke at 12:45 and took me 30min to get him back down. I fed him because he only  had 19oz yesterday so I gave him 4oz. It could have been discomfort but he rarely ever wakes like that.
Woke at 5:15 so a 10hr15min which is his typi8cal. He never tacks ever. I rocked him back to sleep so as not to get OT and he slept from 5:30-6:25. My plan for today.
W6:25
S:10:25
W:12:25
S:4:30-5
S:7:30
What do you think?

We have been having a NW around that time for a while now and I can't seem to get rid of it. Usually I do PD once or twice and he goes straight back to sleep, sometimes with a bit of teething gel. My hope is that last night was that bad because the tooth is going to erupt soon. He is getting all 4 of his top teeth at the moment. 2 have erupted so we are waiting on 2 more. U until last night I was thinking of doing w2s but I don't know if the waking is habitual and then he is having a tough time falling back asleep because of teething pain or he is actually waking because of the pain...

My opinion I would stop trying to work on his routine right now and just stick with what you can do until you know he's not teething. I.e. if you can fit a CN do it if not do EBT. My Lo is a beastie when he's teething and no amount of tweaking is going to help those NW until he's feeling better? Not sure how much longer you've got till they erupt but maybe try giving meds before BT? What about weaning that NF? Do you think he needs it or is he waking just for it?

Siobhan, I think that's a good plan for today :)

Maya, it's sooo hard to tell when they're teething! Do you give meds at bedtime? Maybe that waking is when they are wearing off, so when he comes into a light sleep phase the discomfort wakes him? You could try W2S to see if it is habitual, but if it's discomfort he'll probably wake a little later anyway.

Siobhan, I don't think he is waking specifically for it since it doesn't help him go back to sleep but I feel bad weaning at the moment if he is in pain... Why make him cry even more yk?

Nuala, I was giving meds at BT but he was waking then anyways so I stopped for a few days and he still wakes only then. I tried dream meds once at 2300 and he woke at 0300 instead but it's too early to give meds again so what do I do?

You are right about the weaning but it's def. something I would do if you don't think he needs it once he's done teething, that may help with the waking? As soon as I weaned he stopped waking at 3/4 for it. Mine wasn't waking for it ether as he didn't need it but he was used to it so when he did wake he seemed to want it and it took longer to put him back to sleep with out it. Once I went a few days and bit the bullet and dealt with the pupd he stopped. :) This is such a tough time for them.

So I'd cap the morning nap to 30 mins and reduce the next A time - around 2hrs will probably be enough after a 30 min nap
I find it so hard to make a plan with these stupid EWs!!  This morning he woke at 5:30am (for the 5th time this week!) and grumbled on and off until 6am.  So if I put him down for his AM nap at 9:30 - 10am, and then we do a 2 hr a time, that only brings us to 12 noon and if he were to do a 2hr nap, that brings us to 2:00pm...that's a looong way away from BT!  We have zero success with EBTs, if he wakes any time from 5am onward I can never get him back to sleep, which likely means another EW the next day.
