Good luck! You CAN do it!! It will take time and consistency-so think long term. Mark 3 weeks on your calendar and stick to it everyday for that time.

Thanks so much....Hey, if we got through all that PUPD and all the other stuff that Miss Ivy has done ( I am not blaming her :) ) We CAN do this! Think I had better start going to bed REALLY early to take advantage of that long first sleep stretch!

Well I didn;t think this would be easy!! Sat in her room for 1 hour after she woke bang on 30 minutes into her PM nap. She would only let up long enough to catch her breath, chew on her lovey for no more than 30 seconds. Than back at it screaming, crying, sobbing, trilling, snorting. Wow. I may need an ipod in one ear to not get "stuck" in all the screaming!! WHen I hit the 1 hour mark, I just turned the light on and said "OK, time to get up!" All cheerful and what all...She has about 20 minute to play now ( I already nursed her) and then I will wind her down again as there is no way we could get to even 4:30 from a 12:30 wake up. I can rig DS's quiet time to come at the same time as her PM nap to keep at this but as far as the first one I will just have to hope it is decent!! Anything from 45 minutes onward I will just get her up anyway so here's hoping.

I mostly just sat there and said my sleep phrase and told her she was OK. I didn't touch her or anything, she was really wound up and I doubt she would have noticed.  BUt to be sure, I am just being a presence there to reassure verbally that she is OK but to let her do this ALL herself, correct?
I waited 8 minutes before going in, she was moving from MAD to worried and crying at that point. No turning back now, hope I don't emotionally become emotionally scarred from all the screaming!! :)

3rd nap didn't happen. 4:45 BT here we come. On days that begin at 5am, how would you structure naps to avoid crazy long A to BT? We will probably have several 30 minute 2nd naps as we trudge through this mess....

Yes, but are you able to do this every day for every nap and night waking?? Consistency is really important for sleep training, so you need to be able to see this through.

See this is where we just have to take what we can get. I can't spend an hour every morning in the nursery with her rscreaming when my son needs me. Life just doesn't work that way. I could go in and out sort of a WIWO thing but I can't dissapear and leave him to watch TV so I can sit with her for an hour.

Will I do the minimum and abstain from AP at night? Yes. I can and will walk in, give her the lovey tell her the sleepy phrase and walk out. 90% of the time this is all she needs. I will feed her when she has gone at least 7 hours since her last feed and feed her to get over the 10-10.5 hour "hump" so our day does not begin then ( THAT would not help things :) )

Yesterday she a 1 hour 1st nap and a 1hr10 2nd nap. Then we were out so it was closer to 4 hours last A> She was out at 6:20, woke briefly when I transfered her to her bed from the car. I fed her and she went back to sleep after I laid her in the bed awake. She woke at 2:30 to eat and then up for the day at 5:45.  So a pretty good night. 38 minute 1st nap. 1 hr4 2nd nap. On track for 5:30 BT

Just a thought. I can count on one hand the time she has napped more then 1h25 in MONTHS. She wakes up happy, plays by herself and seems quite refreshed after these 1hr(ish) naps. Could it be that this is just her sleep cycle? So basically that IS her 2 cycle nap? Just wondering out loud here.........

Absolutely!

I can and will walk in, give her the lovey tell her the sleepy phrase and walk out.

Then just do this for all naps then. Is this doable?

Ok still here. Lots of things are better! Or WERE better :'( It seems to have all gone to pot. We are sticking to the plan Smurfette outlined for us and getting fairly consistent naps and decent BT's. I commited to not feeding until the 10-10.5 hour hump and that was going OK. She was going down well for naps and BT. Last couple days her naps have been around 40-45 minutes and she has been in her room the past 50 minutes up and down and is now screaming the house down so I have to go. Oh and NW's were a matter of me muttering "it's sleepytime"or something and maybe handing her her lovey. Last night she was up 1.5 hours. I hate to say this but I am just really over all this nonsense. And tired doesn't help. I really wonder if I will ever figure her out.. :'(

Oh it's BT here by the way. Sorry if that was a bit vague. She practically nursed to sleep when I laid her down for the night but then I laid her in the crib and she was really quiet ( I could hear her slurping on her lovey) then she came to life and is not out yet. Has been an hour. I have been doing the least possible of course but she was so upset I had to pick her up a few seconds.

Hi there!
Ok so that's awesome that things got better!

What happend to start the 40 minute naps? Did you do early bedtime to compensate for the lack of day sleep?

Can you post her routine from today?

It was a rough night so did 1st nap at 8:15. A poop didn't help this one :) 2nd nap was at 12:48. I know this was a longish A but a 3rd nap is impossible so I don't fare go earlierl .She slept til 1:28. Left the room at 4:38 for her EBT and she is still going 3 hours in!! Thinking something is amiss here and just hoping to be able to help her sleep. Sometime!

(((Hugs))), Maryn. I see she is 10mo now. There's a WW right about now that could be causing some disruption. Is she getting any new teeth or doing something new developmentally? This seems a bit more than just routine to me.

KAtie, I sent you a PM, thanks a million for all the support, I will take all I can get!

Smurfette, Yesterday went like this. 5:44, up, 8:18-8:58 SLEEP. 2nd nap was from 12:48-1:28. Then my plan ( haha) was BT at 4:45. It took my 3.5 hours to get her to sleep! The only thing that would settle her at all was to take her out of the room and hold her in another room until she settled, then she would start looking around and cooing. Sheesh. She did just finally give up with me sitting beside her with my hand through the bars. Had a somewhat liberal feeding schedule through the night as she seemed so totally "off" but we made it through.

Yes, we have been sticking to the 5pm BT pretty much all along but she would just babble herself silly until about 5:50 the past few nights! Occasionally she would get a bit mad but I only once had to go in and hand her her lovey and right back out.

She is hitching around on the floor pretty well, can crawl when she wants to and is pulling up like crazy. Any thoughts?? Oh and she is eating like a horse as usual.

So we finally got a somewhat restorative nap. She was up at 7, asleep at 9:32 ( not intentional just how it worked out) Then up at 10;55. Should I stick with 1 for next nap?
