YAY!

The sauce is great isn't it, and SO easy.  We use it for all sorts ... home made pizzas, pasta, spread, bolognaise (really nice mixed in with some white sauce or cheese sauce), with philadelphia and spinach wrapped in lasagne sheets ....

LOL Nicola, I just read your tomato sauce recipe and make EXACTLY the same one for Lisi except I do the lazy version - all the raw veggies in the food processor, whizz and then fry all together. Still takes 20 mins to cook but the prep's easier. I often add carrot, celery and parseley in there too.

I'm getting hungry...

Poor old Norah - she's following food with her eyes making that funny lip movement horses make IYKWIM she's just going to have to wait - there are way way too many allergies running around her family!

Hi all just tagging along, only read the last 2 pages and will give the prunne juice ago as DS has had hard poo's since starting solids.

I have been using a 'NUBY cup. The teat is silcone but shaped like a sippy cup (no flow control) Zane loves it. But will look at the doidy that sounds good too.

I found that Zane eats a little solids (veg) then won't open mouth any more so i mix in the friut with it  :P i know but he then eats it all up.

Nicola - your past sauce is very versatile - wouldn't mind coming to stay at yours for a week or two to try all this home-cooked food  ;D - I added some chunky veg and a tin of tuna to half my second batch last night - for a lovely grown-up pasta bake.

Is Callie still spitting out food? Alice seems to be spitting out an awful lot - she goes thru all the hard work of picking something up, getting it into her mouth and chewing it but when it comes to swallowing she's had enough and I think she decides it's easier to spit out! Funnily enough tho she doesn't spit out any of the banana muffin when she has those LOL!

Hooray for Josh's poo  ;D - LOL at the beefburger!

'BEEFBURGER' PMSL ;) Bless him did he cry? Zane does when he does his, the other day he hadn't gone for 2-3 days and when he did i think we had about 6 chipolata sausages one after the other. His poor little bum, he didn't even want me to touch it after the last one.

Yes we are doing purees veg/fruit. I have been giving him cream cheese sandwiches too (which he loves). Things have changed so much since i had my first ds and i can't remember anyway. Not sure if he can have pretty much anything now and wasn't sure about pasta.

He didnt cry, he did it mid nap  ::) but its been about a week and a half, and 5 days of prune juice and blueberries  :-X He has been up in the night with tummy ache though so i'm shattered!

The whole BLW philosophy is that you dont due purees....its about letting the baby self feed finger foods when he is developmentally ready. I know some people do combine to two, so although not technically BLW we dont burn them at the stake or anything  :P

You can give them pretty much anything after 6 months apart from honey (due to the botulism risk). Area to excercise caution are: egg whites, berries (strawberries etc), wheat & tomatoes....all of which can be very allergenic. If there's no history of allergies though you're probably fine. I do find wheat is a bit much for J, so I give him the wheat/gluten free variety of pasta.

Yes, feed themselves. They just dont get given things like porridge  :P Stuff with sauce, yes. Be prepared for the mess! Tbh if you've already started the conventional way then really you're past the baby-led part now, so you can just have a look in here for finger food ideas! If you want to read more about BLW this is a great site: http://babyledweaning.blogware.com/blog   and this one: http://www.babybanana.biz/page36.htm

I do give him a spoon with a bit on the end, thats messy enough  :P I give him corn crisp snacks that he loves toast, apple chunks that he sucks etc..... So like you say i've done the combo thing without realising. Good to see i've not got it totally wrong. But thanks for the links will check them out.

Hey, lets not talk about doing things "wrong"...there really is no right or wrong! Sounds like you've just been going with the flow and listening to what Zane wants, which is what its all about  :)

Firm favourites here include:
roasted sweet potato spears
steamed carrot sticks
steamed broccoli (it has a natural "handle")
blueberries (I halve them then squish them a bit with my fingers....he uses his little pincer grip to pick them up)
sweetcorn
wheat/gluten free pasta
dragon fruit
nectarines
Organix sweetcorn crunchy rings
Organix soft rusks
avocado slices
peas
asparagus spears

And there's plenty more!

He loves bread, but I think he's a bit sensitive to wheat/gluten as I mentioned, so he doesnt get it very often. My mum keeps promising to make him some gluten free bread, but has yet to produce  ::)

Lovely. You can try him with pretty much anything tbh, as long as its no salt/sugar/honey!
