Oh big (((Hugs)))

I was just about to suggest that you try feeding when DH is around, but maybe that won't decrease the fears.

Callie does exactly as you describe.  She stuffs her mouth full of anything, not so bad now but she did in the early days.  I have had to fish things out as she hardly ever spat things out.

I'm not to sure what I can say to reassure you but here are a couple of things to think about:

- the squash test.  If you can squash a bit of whatever between your finger and thumb then it is soft enough for gums to squash down.  It's a natural instinct to chew/mush/manipulate/spit out whatever is in your mouth so I think she would have done one of those things :)

- gag reflex.  Part of learning about food is learning to manipulate it in your mouth and I suppose that partly is trial and error.  If she had got it near the back of her throat then her gag reflex would have kicked in.  Try putting a big piece of carrot to the back of your throat and see how your body reacts.

I've only been off line for a couple of days but it's been busy on here - it must be cos Nicola is back  ;)

Have read thru all the posts but there are way to many to remember / reply to - but have to say PMSL at Josh with his little finger out eating watercress  ;D

Lovely to see / hear all the new ladies and LOs embarking on this fantastic journey  ;D

Liked the idea of shredded wheat soaked in OJ - so tried Alice with it . . . TBH she didn't seem impressed - but I think I soaked it too long  :P

How can it be the food of the devil when it is 'knitted by nanas'?  ;) Have to say that I'm quite a fan . . . just realised as I was typing that I am actually talking about shreddies and not shredded wheat  ::) - and have to admit I'm not a fan . . . mum brain strikes again!! Maybe Alice would like it tho . . .

Am glad to hear that it's not just Alice that's obsessed with blueberries and cherries - she's also a fan of raisins now too. Just like Callie (I think?) she's also gone off toast which was a firm favourite - but we tried bagels this week and they are going down really well.

Ang - LOL at Dolly Parton . . . I'm hoping that Alice will soon become less interested in BF as I want to start weaning her soon - but at the moment the girl still loves her milk - which I suppose is a good thing . . . but it's only a matter of weeks til she turns one and I was hoping that she'd start weaning herself before I forced the issue, iykwim?

Right . . . time to go and wake my sleeping beauty. Have a good weekend everyone  ;D

shredded wheat is like eating... well, wheat that's been shredded - it's that sawdust texture I just can't bare. Same with weetabix  :-X :P (skype has a nice vomit emoticon that I think Andy needs to get on here) didn't stop me feeding both to Lisi though.

Norah's come out in hives. At first I thought she'd been attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes, but there's no way one got into her nappy through pjs and a grobag. They come up and go down seemingly at random and don't seem to be bothering her but until they've cleared up she can go back to eating placemats and bowls. It *could* have been the cucumber - she only got some of the soft bit around the seeds, but I think that's a whole lot more likely than an organic brown rice cake with nothing in it but rice. Or it could be totally unrelated. Certainly hope so 'cause if it is the cucumber then chances are she's going to be allergic to a whole bunch of other stuff including potato which would be a pain.

I'm guessing Cummesber is cucumber, anyone else?  :P Hope she's ok Katie  :-*

J also likes his dried fruit Nic...yesterday I put half a dozen raisins on his tray, turned away for literally 2 seconds, when I turned back they were GONE!!
