Ugh I hate waking :/
I do too hun.  But if I let O sleep in the AM (esp when he's OT) he'd prob do 1.5hrs+ & then refuse to sleep for the rest of the day.  He has done this even when poorly.  So for him, I know that waking him is the best option b/c he will always have a PM nap.  But that's not to say A is the same.

What did you do in the end?

Our day went:

WU: 5.20
Nap: 9.15-9.45
Nap: 1.45 - 3.15
BT:  7.10

you are right i am not sure i'd get a 2nd nap either which was why i was afraid to even attempt a 2 nap day the last time.  I woke her....she did well with it though...was kind of funny cause i went into her room left the door open and turned off her white noise...then went over and rubbed her back..she slowly sat up and I picked her up...then she started telling me "no" lol..awe i felt so bad but the rest of the day is going well...she played and had lunch and she seemed good around 1 which is the time we did the other 2 nap day so i kept her up a bit longer and around 1:10 she went potty put on a clean diaper...took her bottle and was in the crib by 1:30 asleep a few mins later..it's 2:30 and knock on wood she is still sleeping...

how did BT go for you?  any resistance being a fairly short A from his nap?  is there a point I should wake her?   like by a certain time of day or by a certain length of time?

Melissa - I would go with 645/7pm for BT.  I generally find that 2 naps (regardless of which is short/long) encourages them to have a shorter night at this stage...

Claire - you and O are in that rut that me and Alexandra were stuck in... the short nights leads to 2 naps needed to keep BT at a normal hour, but then the two naps causes the short night... it's a tough one to get out of... we were in it for a month because she just wasn't ready to do the A times needed for the one nap days... so frustrating.  Alexandra was cranky all the freakin' time - it was tough.

I got a 715pm - 640am last night!  WOOT WOOT!  Horrible to say, but I think her vaccinations broke that habitual wake that was coming back around 530am ;)  Whatever works LOL!  She seems to be napping closer to 2 hrs - 2hrs 15 as well, which makes her able to do the A time to bed and still happily sleep 11 hours + at night :)  Happy momma!  Fingers crossed that I haven't just jinxed myself by typing this out :/

Kara the first time I did 2 naps I got a great night so hoping for the same tonight. She woke with another awful diaper. 4th one today and her little bum is all red. can't wait to be done with antibiotic. Not helping the whole sleep situation :/

Glad to hear you ate getting on so well...congrats :)

Melissa - good luck!  She could need the two naps with all of that bum activity!  That would make me sleepy ;)

Yea that can be an issue - but atm  we are getting just as long nights with 2 naps & more day sleep & no NW's so I am going to keep offering them as/when I think he needs it.  O is not an angel/textbook baby, he's touchy with a bit of spirited & he does not handle OT well at all - I think this is our biggest hurdle of all!

Melissa - agree think 2 naps is best idea while poorly if she seems extra sleepy.  How long of an A time did she do before her PM nap today?  Am just wondering if it may have been a bit short?  O did 4hrs & I woke him after 1.5hrs - that's the most I'll let him sleep in the PM when he does a 30min AM nap, & I also make sure he does at least 4hrs A to BT after a 1.5hr nap & this usually gives us a decent solid night.  WRT just doing 4hrs to BT after his PM nap - I find this is ok b/c he already did 3.5ish hrs to AM nap & 3.5-4hrs to PM nap so he is usually ready for bed.  We very rarely get BT resistance here, BUT we pay for it with EW if he is UT!

Here's hoping for a good night eh?

She did 3.5 hrs A between naps. Can't say anaheim seemed incredibly tired before her bottle but didn't want her to go down too late into the day either. Maybe she was a bit UT :/. Hoping for a 12 hr or more night so we can have a 1 nap day tomorrow. It's seems like forever since I've seen a nap longer than 1 hr 30-45 mins :/ I suppose it could be worse but either way it's not enough you know?  Really hoping there is no diarhhea tomorrow too :/ poor thing has a red sore bum and I am afraid she will end up dehydrated. No antibiotics today so hopefully that helps. Wishing a good night for all. :)

Claire - totally agree, if he is getting more sleep in total - go with it!

Melissa - poor Ava :(  I would add some yogurt to her diet to help her get over the pooper issues... the probiotics will help balance her tummy back out again.

11h 50 sleep last night.  Awake 7am. Phew! 1 nap day yet again - won't be pushing him so far today though - lesson learned.  Am aiming for 11.30-11.45 latest.  5hrs seems to send us into OT land.

11 hr 45 min night 6:15 am wake up. Better than 5 something I guess. Best part no BM's so far didn't even wake up with one :). It's only been 2 hrs but compared to yesterday it's a definite accomplishment. Should I still do 2 naps today you think?

Great night!  Hmmm - tricky.  Play it by ear I think.  If she is looking tired do 2, if not, try 1.

We've done 1 - asleep at 11.45am after 4.75hrs A & he woke up at the 45min mark, resettled in 5mins, currently still asleep.  Can't believe still OT even after all that sleep last night - ugh!

And I just jinxed it by posting that - WU after 1h 50mins & he's crying.  So def another OT nap.  OK ladies so what BT?

WU 7am
A = 4.75hrs
Nap: 11.45 - 1.35pm

Do I do 7pm?  That's 5.5hrs A.  Is that just asking for NW's after a less than 2hr nap??? Or should he handle it ok since he did a shorter A time in the AM???

I'll be the crazy one and say try for 7pm, but if he looks sleepy and gets really cranky, do 630pm :)

I just got a 740am wake up!  OMG.  Had a 2 hr 10 min nap yesterday - was in bed at 725pm... 12 hrs 15 min!  This new business of assisted walking is wearing her out!

It does!  O has recently started walking & I think this is why we are getting more sleep!

Ladies - I panicked too early at naptime - he went back to sleep!  I decided to wake him at 2pm as he'd had 2h 15mins sleep & I find if he does 2.5hrs+ it eats into our night.  I think I'm going to aim for 7.15ish BT so he's done 5.25hrs after his nap, esp with him only having done 4.75hrs in the AM.  Might even stretch it to 7.30pm.  Ooh dangerous!
