we had a 12 hr night 6-6 nap at 11:30...still sleeping at 1pm...knock on every piece of wood around me lol...soooo hoping to get a 2+ hr nap day today...would love to get back to that point.

claire yes sounds very similar to our start of things...sounds like an OT nap to me too..but hopefully it ends up being a long one just the same...IIWM I'd just watch him to decide the BT I get what you're saying about wanting to take advantage of the later wake up but also like you said it was a bit of a broken night...if you get a good nap I'd say the later BT is possible...even if you do 6:30-6:45 maybe? I think some of our best morning wake u times come from that BT.

well we got 2h 15 altogether but a broken nap with about 5 WU's.  Awake at 2.50pm.  I am totally scared to do BT before 7pm b/c even though he is carrying a bit of OT I think he needs more than 4hrs A after a 2h 15min nap.  I think if I PD before 7 I'd get EW tomorrow.  So we're aiming for 7.20pm - 4.5hrs A time.  Not as much as he usually does, so factors in the fact that he woke for almost 1.5hrs this morning.  Here's hoping he sleeps at least 11hrs eh?!

Great that you got a 12hr night!  Hope she napped well today.  I so wish O would tack on at night.  He only ever does it when he's truly exhausted.  I think even on 1 nap, the best we'll consistently get is 11hrs.  Wouldn't mind so much if I felt he could handle the 5.5-6hrs A time he needs to do to have a 13hr day every day but I don't think he can!

Melissa we had some shorter naps after a few weeks into the 1 nap transition. Usually Z would do better nights then though too so I think it's the norm. Is she waking happy?

Claire, your BT looks god to me :D good luck for tonight.

Yes she seems to be. Did they get longer again?  Our norm is

6-6:30 WU
11:30 nap (1 hr 40 mins lately :/)
6-7 BT (varies on her and usually more twds 7 the days I work)

Should I alter anything?

With that nap 1 hr 40 mins what's a good
BT?

I think your day looks good really. You could try pushing the nap to 11.45 this worked fr us, but now we back at 11.30 ish or earlier as DS is poorly and teething ::)

Melissa - I'd say go early.  I've found that 1h 40 naps are OT for us.  She's already done 5.5hrs before her nap right?  So I'd probably aim for no more than 5hrs after her nap so maybe 6.10pm latest.  Its so tricky b/c that's not going to give you a much later WU meaning a long time til nap tomorrow, BUT she will likely be better rested with a 6pm BT than if you push her to 7pm.

We've just put DS to bed (7.30pm) & I am rather scared as although he has huge bags he didn't really seem all that tired.  Eek!!!

I am hoping this might give us a slightly later start tomorrow & I might be able to use the opportunity to push his nap a bit later.  If WU is as usual, then nap will be 11.10am at the absolute earliest.  I am being brutal about this, but I really think we HAVE to get his nap shifted to after lunch if I want to stand a chance of a) him making it to a normal BT without OT and b) him waking up later in the morning.

ETA: Melissa - was also going to suggest what Sara just said.  As I just wrote above, maybe the answer is the same for you too.  Pushing the nap later will help shorten the A time to BT reducing OT, OR mean you can achieve a later BT, both of which should help you get a later WU.xx

Ok so EBT at 6ish tonight and shoot for 11:45 tomorrow?  So a 5 hr 45 min A in the morning IF I don't get an EW and hope for 6 am at least. Sounds good I think. Be great if she wakes at 6:30 or so but that be asking for a big night. Hehe

Claire good luck it may be a push but sometimes it's what's necessary.

Up to you whether you push 15mins extra straight off, or whether you go 5 mins at a time.  That's how I'm doing it - 5mins every 3 days, til nap is after lunch.  Slower, but I'm doing it b/c O is already doing such long A's before nap.

Here's hoping for good nights sleep for all of us.x

I second that. It's 6:15 here and she is just drifting off. Fought me a bit at 6. Went back into her and gave her more of her bottle than rocked with her a bit. Did a little shhhh when she protested me putting her down. She quieted and I left the room. hoping for a later wake up.

She is still letting a cry out sporadically and it's 6:25....UT or OT?  I am thinking UT?  What do you all think?  Now she is sitting up and playing and making funny noises entertaining herself. Now I definitely think UT. :/

For sure UT - I would intervene to prevent her from playing until she is OT ;)

We have been having 11 hr nights for the majority of this week with only one night of 10.5 hrs (darn tooth #6! - it finally cut through after a horrible day on Wednesday - Thursday morning we had a happy birthday tooth!).  Her naps are averaging 2-2.75 hrs (again teething caused the 2 hour one).  Today she woke from 11 hrs 10 mins overnight and stole a couple 5 min CN's in the car and went down easily at 1135am... finally woke at 225pm!  2 hrs 50 mins!  She was super tired this evening and I had to take her to her room to have some quiet time around 5pm - she was wrecked!  No way I could put her down though - she would have been hugely UT.  She managed okay until I put her to bed at 645pm... yeesh.  That tooth really took a toll on her... fingers crossed that we get to 6am tomorrow!

Awe poor thing. Those are some naps man I'd love to see that. Why the heck am I getting short naps?  I mean it could be worse but still 1 hr 40 mins is not long enough for either of us. The girls are suggesting pushing get nap to 11:45. What do u think?  Any thoughts on how I can get longer naps?

Given the length of Ava's nights, I don't think you are going to get consistent 2 hours + naps hun :)  Our nights are averaging 11 hours, so she makes up for it with a longer nap...

FWIW - 1 hr 40 min is OT here ;)
