Hi all!  I've been posting on the BW boards for about 3 months now (gee - it seems longer than that, cause I'm addicted maybe  ).  Anyway, I haven't gotten into this particular thread because it was so long, and I don't have time to read the 47 previous pages!     :D   However, I'd like to try and jump in on the conversation if you guys don't mind!

My little guy is Ethan, he'll be 7 months old next week (where has the time gone?!?).  I'm a SAHM, live in the Dallas area.

Oh, and I also posted some pics of my little guy the other day in the photo gallery http://www.babywhisperer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40582&highlight= ,I just have to add that, cause they are so darn cute!  I know I'm totally biased, but I don't care, I'm a proud mama!   :D

Hi Tammy!  Welcome and jump right in!  You'll have to tell us more about yourself and Ethan.  I've seen you around on some other threads.  Those photos you had done of Ethan are gorgeous!

Schae: LOVE those photos of Luka and the dog!  Asher likes our dog, but he runs away.  Gets annoyed with Asher pinching his toes, tail, etc.  I'm so glad to hear your nights are getting better!  Ours are too!  Asher was going every other night, but now he's slept through 3 nights in a row.  Early mornings have come back though.  But I think it was because DH had to get up early this week.  Not gonna get any better though since he starts a new shift next week, just as early.  But he'll have a 3 day weekend each week though!  Woot Woot!   :D

Deborah: sorry to hear about the cranky doctor!   :x   I would have been peeved!

Heather: jusspress has been down since updating their servers.  Hopefully it'll come back up soon!

Asher started cruising this morning!    He went from the toy piano, to the end table, to the couch, then down the couch to where I was sitting!  I'm not ready for this yet!!

Thanks for the welcome ladies!  I've seen many of you on other posts, so I feel like I *know* some of you already!   :)

Ok, let's have a go at this list...

Rolling - yes
Crawling - just starting to
Breast or Formula - formula
Solids - cereal and pureed veggies & fruits (a.k.a. "baby food")  :D
Sleeping thru the night - yes, since about 3 or 4 months old
Naps - 3 naps (one morning, one afternoon, one late afternoon catnap - although he is started to drop that one)
Sitting unassisted - not quite yet!
Teeth - none yet!  I think he is teething now though
Dreamfeed - yes
Morning wake up time - 7:00 or 7:30
Bedtime - 7:30 or 8:00
Favorite toy - links (at least that is what he chews on the most  :D )
Favorite Activity - Indoors - jumperoo, although we just bought an exersaucer, and he's starting to like that more and more.  Outdoors - he loves to go on walks! Ok, I walk, he rides!
Lovie - he has a small super soft teddy bear in his crib that he sleeps with (sort of).  I imagine he'll turn that into more of a lovey than it is now.
Excema - no
Back or Belly - I put him down on his back, but he immediately flips to his belly to sleep, so I let him!
Swaddle - used to, but no longer
Paci - uses it sometimes during the day, and during windown, but he usually spits it out in his crib and sucks his thumb instead.
Weight/Height - at 6 mo. checkup, he was 20 lbs. 2 ozs., 27.5 inches
Eye/Hair color - blue eyes, brown hair
Work or SAHM - SAHM
Name & origin - Name is Tammy; origin - does that mean where I was born?  I was born in Dover, Delaware, but am an Army brat, so I moved all over the US growing up.  Now am outside Dallas, TX
I'm a - a lot of things could go here, but what is the intended answer?!?
Birthday - Nov. 15 (I'll be 30 this year - yikes!)
Type - does this mean what type of baby do I have?  He's mostly textbook.
First, second, third child of how many?? - Ethan is the first, and hopefully not the last!

Whew!  Okay, you'll have to tell me what some of those questions were supposed to be, I'm not sure I answered them the right way!

Thanks for the photo comments! :D I think Diablo (the dog) is totally in love with Luka, he must've been waiting for ages for Luka to become mobile. It's too cute.

Hi Tammy and welcome!! Ethan is a cutie pie.

Deborah:  to the doctor. You should let him know that you don't appreciate his attitude (in the nicest possible way :) ) On the other hand, if he isnt too worried about Maya, then I guess that's a good thing too?

Heather: Enjoy the family quality time! When you have fantastic days with your lo, then you feel like 2 or 3 more kids would be great too! I love the way the mommy mind works, we forget all the 'nasty' stuff.

Jaime: Poor Luke.  :( Hope he feels better soon. They make a cough mixture for babies on this side of the world, like me to courier it over for you? :) And I hope you feel more rested soon too.

Christine: Yay on the doctors feedback! That's great news.

Julie: Asher is just racing through the milestones hey? Wow! WELL DONE ASHER! Have you babyproofed?

Deb: How are you doing?

Us: Last night went okay too, just the one night waking. It's getting very hot here, and I'm not quite sure how to dress Luka  :? I think he woke last night because he was hot, coz after I removed the receiving blanket, he slept fine (rolling all over the place, grunting, but still sleeping)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

schae - thanks for asking how we are. we are doing ok. i am still not 100% but the girls are doing well and i am trying to make an effort - still getting too agitated over little things like in the beginning.  my Dr appt is on Wed so will talk to her then.

it is hot here too - today was just under 30C (86 F) we sem to have gone from winter to summer and skipped spring!  i worry about dressing the girls too lightly at bedtime becauise the temp CAN (but doesn't have to) drop overnight so i worry they will be too cold. what temp was it for you last night and what did you dress Luka in?  we kept Livin her witer bag but with a light nightgown instead of her winter PJs. I went shopping today and forgot to look for a summer sleeping bag   if i don't write it down...

Us - sorry it ended up long
Need help with a strange thing - Olivia is eating loads these past 2 days but is actually waking earlier  :?  after taking 220ml (7+ oz) at DF last night (rare!) she woke at 6:10am hungry!  she already had her 6mo GS and this week it feels like she is in a feeding frenzy again - she is LOVING solids now - eating 3-5TBS of food per feed  (sometimes think she would take more than 5 but tink that might be too much) + 5 bottles taking between 5-8 oz per feed.  what do you guys think?  also, sometimes the solids at 5-5:30 seem to be interfering with her last bottle.  should we limit her solids in favour of the bottle or trust that between the 2 she will get what she needs.  this is why the DF seems to have increased I THINK.

also - amazing news!!  first - the past 2 days because she was waking earlier i decided to try to keep liv up longer so that her naps would still be at 9 and 12:30 (or 1 if she did a big 1st nap) well, it ended up being 2hr 45 - 3 hrs awake time each time and she went down without any problems - not overtired, but just right!  unfortunately 1st nap is still 45 min but today ...... DRUMROLL PLEASE.... she did a 1hr 45 - 2hrs nap for 2nd nap (not sure exactly because this is when i did my errands and Dh knows she definitely went past 1hr 30 but cannot be exact if it ended up at 1hr 45 or 2hrs!!  )  this is the first one over 1hr 30 in ... a very long time.  besides the awake time, she ate tons and did a big poop so i think alll conditions were met!  the problem with the am nap i think is that she needs to poop and can't get past 45 min.  she either delays the nap by trying (and succeeding) to poop and by the time i change and resettle her she only has time for a 45 min nap OR she sleeps 45 min and then poops and thatis it for her, no resettling after poopy nappy   is there anything i can do about this?? i don't think so. i have tred increasing the prunes in her cereal hoping it will make her poop before naptime.  any other suggestions?

since she went to 2:30 for 2nd nap she refiused catnap but was fine today - i guess the extra sleep helped.

See, I knew I'd get something wrong!   :D
Name is Ethan Carter.
Origin - we just liked that name!  We very early agreed on a girl's name, but when it came to boy's names, there weren't a lot dh and I agreed on!  This was one of the few!

OK, so this is going to sound very weird, but it works and it was via my Doctor's advice. When Leah is constipapted (or when I can tell she needs to poop before her nap, but just can't seem to do it) I put some vaseline(petroleum jelly) on a q-tip and insert it into her, appropriate terms here....rectum? just a little bit. Then I twirl it around and gently pull it out and in. This helps her get it out. She ALWAYS poops when I do this. I felt funny doing it at first, but my doc said it is not different than taking a rectal temp. I don't do it all the time, but since she started solids sometimes she needs a little bit of help. Lot's of times I can tell she needs to poop before a nap and this helps get it out before we even start the naptime routine.  So, now you all probobly think I'm really weird, but it works!!!!!!  :D

WELCOME Tammy!   :D   loved the pix of ethan - what a smiley baby.

Christine - i've heard that about the rectum & pooping.  i never had the guts to try it - good to know it does work!

Deb - YAY on the napping!

Schae - sounds you are just about there on sleeping all night.  you must feel like a new woman.

Us - luke definitely has a bug.  running a fever & diarrhea.  right after he eats he plays a little bit & acts normal, but then he just wants to snuggle next to a warm body & then time for a nap.  bug's been going around.  jaina thankfully missed it, but poor guy.  his cough seems to be gone, but am loving that baby tylenol for the fever.

Deb & Christine & Tammy - noticed you're new moderators!  congrats!

Heather - yep, I just signed onto the movie/tv/debate forum, so wish me luck!     I'm the co-mod.  Stacie is the other mod, and she is my SIL.  I thought it might be fun to moderate the same board.

Is anyone's lo teething?  I am sure that mine is, but no sign of any tooth.  This will be his first.  So, question is, how long does the inconsolable-grumpy-cranky-crying-all-day stage last?  I mean, I thought he was getting his tooth a couple of weeks ago, but nothing.  Then the past 3 or 4 days he has been just miserable.  Today has got to be the worst though, and as much as I love him, it's driving me crazy!   :x

I've been giving ibuprofen and using teething gel, but honestly, he is still grumpy.

Also, he seems to have gone off his pureed foods as well - is that normal?  He'll take his bottle, but only a few bites of the solids, and then he just starts crying and fussing.

Please tell me there is a light at the end of this tunnel!  I need some hold out of hope!  I guess "this too shall pass"... I just have to keep reminding myself of that!

Tammy - it could be teething.  luke's latest tooth seems to have taken forever!  he'd go through a period where he couldn't chew on his hands enough, and then nothing.  then a week or 2 later, he'd start all over again.  some teeth just seem to take longer than others.     a decreased solids appetite can be normal - their gums hurt, so they don't want to 'chew' on actual food sometomes.

however, if he's still grumpy after pain meds, maybe something else is bugging him?  maybe his tummy hurts, like he caught a little bug??

Deb - sometimes i do limit luke's solids.  there are more nutrients in the milk/formula at this point.  well, at least i pour out a generous amount at mealtime, and he won't get more than that.  if he's super hungry i'll feed him extra milk.  does that make sense???

i now know why i've been so down in the dumps... my period returned today.     you'd think i'd know that's what it was, but i've had maybe 2 in the past 3 years!!!   least i'm feeling more chipper.   well, that & i've been on here about 3 times just today - think i'm making up for lost time!

here's a 'fun' question.  how old are you?  tammy's response got me wondering.  i just turned 27 a couple weeks ago...
