Michelle - thanks a lot - thanks to your great photos and videos i am still on the computer at 11pm (had to do DF tonight).  they were awesome - thanks for sharing.

Branwen - thanks for thinking that Liv is doing well - it is weird but i always feel ike on some level we are not doing as well as should be because she does not do 2 hour naps (silly huh?)

Glad to see that all of you are doing well.
Here is our routine(only constant thing about our routine is that changes every day:) )
7.40 Wake up and BF
8.45 Solids
9.10 Nap usually 45 mins sometimes 1.5 hrs(today I put her down at 9.20 and she has been sleeping for more than an hour)
10.20 Solids
11.10 BF
12.10 Nap (mostily 1.5 hrs and an occasional 45 min nap)
1.40 Solids
2.10 BF
3 Solids
3.40 Nap(45 mins:( )
5 BF
5.40 Nap (30 mins she is skipping this lately)
6.30 or 7 3 min BF if I am lucky
8.30 BF and bed

You can see that I am BF ing her 6 times. If I go any less than that she wakes up in the MOTN:( She is also Bfing for max 7 mins these days. If I do the 4 hr EASY, then we have 2 wakings in the night. When I asked in the BF board, they asked me to try 3.5 hr EASY. If I do that though, she doesn't get the CF and we have never done DF. So I don't want to fix something which is not broken. One of these days, when I feel rested I am going to try 3.5 hr EASY with no CF.

Michelle: Loved the videos. She is a darling! Does she look at you when she says Mama and your DH when she says DADa. Diya says Amma(Amma means Mama) all the time. but she doesn't look at me.

JulieB: Asher is just like Diya. I can see that he is very active. Boy! I loved that trick of his. I am going to add some videos of Diya too in that site. That is a really cool website.

Branwen: Eirwen is sitting up so well. Does she like that winkel toy? Glad that things are going well for you guys. Diya pulls up to her knees by holding on to her crib bumper or boppy pillow in the playpen.

Diya woke up. I have gotto go. Will finish the rest in the next post!

Thanks everyone for checking out Kinlagh's site.  I recommend it to everyone so we can all see each other's darlings in action!  Let us know if you do so we can check it out.

Branwen - congrats on losing the afternoon nap.  Looks like Kinlagh and Eirwen are right on the same track.  And great sitting pics of Eirwen!  What a cutie.

Tarri - Way to go Emily (2nd tooth)!!!  And as for liquid intake, I've heard they will start weaning themselves once they know real food is part of their routine.  My friend with a 10 month old said her ds has started taking only 5oz of the 8oz offered in anticipation of the meal to follow.

Christine - What a sweetie (on top of being an angel this weekend).  Aren't you lucky?  You have a beautiful family.

JulieB - You have to have a fondue party.  They're the best.  Lots of prep work for dipping sauces and that, but so much fun.  I have a book of fondue recipies if you're interested!   I've also added you to my jusspress friends list.  As for the poops, I think they're all different.  I hear of babies going only 1/week.  I can't imagine.  Kinlagh was a 1/day but the sudden increase I'm sure is due to the new foods.

Debra - Sorry about the late night   I did the same with JulieB's website.  I was watching Asher crawling around - too cute.
Here's what we kinda did to get rid of the catnap.  Might be a long story since there were alot of factors.
1- She was starting to have problems with bedtime (not sleepy) so figured it may be time to stop the catnap.
2- We would have a very quiet & restful awake time around when she used to have her catnap (4-4:30pm).  Usually involved a car ride, watching a video (I know, I know) or cuddling with mom on the couch with a soft plush toy, but no major play (no tickling, no tummy time, etc).  For the first little bit, she may fall asleep (20-30 min), but never in her crib.  Then when dh got home, it was playtime again.
3- She would have an earlier bedtime on some days during the transition
4- We then started lenghtening her wake times between naps.  Here's a guideline I received on another forum.  Generally, the hours of awake time is 2-2.5 hours/3 hours/3.5-4 hours (before morning nap/before afternoon nap/before bedtime) So as you can see, they can stay awake longer after nap #2 til bedtime
5- Also, we used to count the hours of wake time between naps, but we were then given the advice to just try keeping nap times at same time of day regardless of wake time.  For example, if she woke from nap #1 early, keep nap #2 at 1:30 regardless - since that's when she's used to napping.  I think this is what made the biggest difference in the length of nap. (45 min to 1.5 hours) So now we have a 9:30 and 1:30 nap whether she naps for 1 hour or 1.5 hours.
I think that's all I can think of.  Hope this all makes sense.

Also, good for you on keeping Alex's diet so healthy.  That'll definitely teach her good habits.  I've always said my children will not taste McDonalds til their 10th birthday!!!!!

Vidya - No eye contact during the chatter yet.  But I'm loving that Kinlagh is reaching out to me.  I can't imagine when the reaching is combined with "mama".  My heart melts thinking about it.  I hope the BF board can help you with your BF issues.

Us - Just bought meat & cheerios yesterday.  The meat is scary looking stuff!  Not sure if Kinlagh will go for that.  We tried cheerios this morning, and imagine this site...Kinlagh was playing with a few on her tray and then finally got one in her mouth.  I was watching her every move making sure she was actually chewing it.  She appeared to be then she began choking (  ).  Nothing major, but still stops my heart.  So I tried picking her up out of her high chair and the darn tray fell on my foot.  So Kinlagh is choking, I'm moaning in agony and the whole time, FIL is behind me laughing his butt off.      Too bad I didn't get that on video huh? It was eventful, but I guess we have to keep trying (even though mom is nervous!)
And Kinlagh is getting up on all 4s ready to crawl but goes nowhere.  I just love to see her little mind working.

That's all folks!
Michelle

Deb, a friend of mine just went camping with her 1 & 3 yo's.  She said the 3 yo slept in a small sleeping bag next to her and the 1 yo slept with her.  She said they did GREAT. She was nervous because she was by herself (with family, but no DH), but she had so much fun.  She said it was so precious to sleep and cuddle with them all in the same tent.  Her 3 yo was SO excited that mama was gonna spend the entire night by him in the tent.  She said it just warmed her heart!   :D
And I guess I'm in for a good pooper as well since I plan to make Asher a healthy eater.      Now if I can just figure out how to keep the in-laws from sneaking junk to him!

Branwen, great photos!  We have the same stacking cups and gym!  I took the cross beams completely off the gym though, so now it's just a play mat.  Asher kept getting stuck around the beams (and angry!) when he'd wiggle around.

Vidya, yes!!  Do post some videos of Diya and let us know!

Michelle,
maybe one of these days after I finish all the other things I want to do, I'll have that fondue party!      I have a couple books as well.  I also looked up our favorite recipes from the Melting Pot online.  When you go to FL, I HIGHLY recommend going!  It is so much fun, but you gorge yourself silly!  Get the fondue for two, it's expensive ($75), but you get a 4 course meal and get to try cheese, meat, and dessert fondue!  Yummy Yummy!  :D  Pre-crawling is SOOO cute, isn't it?  They stick that cute little bum up in the air, start rocking back and forth but with no where to go...  SO CUTE, I just wanted to pinch his little hiney all the time!!

Michelle - you are too funny!!!  we did the fondue for 2, but the part without the dessert.  we got to do a cheese fondue (you get to pick from 4 options) with bread, apples, and some veggies.  picked a salad, and then picked an entree.  there's enough meat on there for 2 meals.  we didn't do dessert, but i watched the next table.  there's a list of about 8 different types of dessert fondues (all different combos of chocolates, caramels, i think there's a peanut butter, marshmallow...) & they bring you a plate with all sorts of dippable goodies on it.  mmmmm....we do need a drooling emoticon!!!  :D   PS - loved your pictures too!  these babies are just too cute.  also a comment - you may want to wait on the meat... seems to me i remember that they should wait till 9 months?  but kinlagh has been doing an awful lot early anyhow, so who knows?  where in florida are you visiting???

Christine - welcome back!  those pics are adorable.  what a happy baby!  how did work go for you today?

Debra - i remember camping in a gigantic tent - it could fit 6 teenage girls, and i don't think it was too much money.  at least not for how much use it got!  whew!  i don't think i could camp with 2 little ones now... maybe in a few years when they're all potty trained???  course, my dh isn't keen on the idea at all anyhow!

Branwen - glad you had a great day yesterday.  hope today is awesome as well.  how is all the packing going?

Vidya - jaina bf 6-7 times a day until solids were established too.  i think some babies just like it better that way!  glad things seem to be going well for you.

Us - luke ate the carrots!  he kept looking at me confused (where's the cereal mom?), but he ate a couple ounces.   :D and since we're all sharing websites, here's ours.  dh is a techie & has websites for both kids so all the relatives & friends can see them, since nobody's local.

Just a quick note to tell you all - I'm a big idiot!!  I just dropped Kinlagh on her face.  She was standing and I tried to take a picture (to show dh and you girls of course) and she fell.  Of course she did, she's 7 months old and not ready to stand.  DUH!!  She's completely fine with a little red spot on her cheek.  But I feel terrible.       Please make me feel better......

You all are just cracking me up today!!

Jaime!
I love the photo commentaries on your website!  Cracks me up!

Michelle/Deborah: I had to laugh when I read your posts!  I don't know why!  I guess it's just because we're all so easily mooshed over our babies when they get hurt!  You'd think I'd have CPS knocking on my doorstep with the latest bumps Asher has on his noggin!  I just have to smile and think to myself, "Here we go, it's starting!  I've got a BOY on my hands!"    He pulled himself up on the end table yesterday, looked up at me with a proud smile, LET GO and promptly fell flat on his back and into the sliding door.  He has a huge red lump still today.  This morning, I heard him awake and playing in his crib, but I didn't go get him, even though I heard him playing with the verticle blinds next to his crib (wanted a few more zzz's).  I jumped up when I heard him howl.      He has a large scratch across his neck from the corner of the blind.  Oh, and I also poked him in the eye really good a couple weeks ago.  I was TRYING to be helpful and save him from a fall (he had been sitting up), but managed to miss AND poke him as well!  He was in such shock/pain, he couldn't even catch his breath to scream.  Just gaped his mouth in a silent gasp.       Poor guy, somebody needs to protect him from mommy!   :(

See, happens to all of us!!  We try our best, what else can we do?

Oh thanks girls!  I feel so much better.  I actually laughed out loud at your visual, JulieB.  Poor little Asher!  And how is Maya doing?  They do need protection from their moms (and dads) don't they?  Dh just confessed that he has already punched Kinlagh twice in the face.  Funny he should tell me now....

And BTW, we all have to get together for a huge fondue while the men/grandparents/aunts/uncles/WHOEVER are watching the little ones!

Jaime - I'll be in Miami.  We're going primarily to see a football game.  DH and I are huge NE Patriots fans and they're playing the Dolphins on Nov 13th. Can't wait!

JulieB - You may want to pinch Asher's hiney, but I want to take a bite out of Kinlagh's.  Is that wrong???

This was a funny post day.  Thanks everyone for the entertainment!

One more...

Branwen - I just saw your new Avatar.  It's beautiful and I had to comment!!!  Plus it reminded me that it's almost September and time to update to park/play pictures.  This is as close as I could find.

Michelle- Thanks about the pic! It is my recent favorite of us. :D Kinlagh is beautiful in your avatar!!! Does she sit alone then?  What is that pool you have?!  I want one!!  It's okay about the face plant, seriously, isn't this what practice is all about!!!! (See I'm just trying to make myself feel better as Eirwen has bonked her head twice falling back from sitting on our hardwood floors...mama finally got a clue today and now we have appropriate padding!!! ).

Deb- Liv IS doing great!  I was beating myself up and us about the lack of 2 hr nap too- but once I let it go and I realized that we're fine...but seriously read some of your old posts- you are doing excellent!! :D

Us- We have a tooth!  I can feel it's sharp edges today!! She won't let me peak though...I've tried every which way and oh boy, the drool!  At least there is finally a result to all of this fussiness.

  ROFLMBO!!!

I confess, ME TOO!!!  But I felt embarrassed to type that.  Wasn't sure if anyone would understand!      But I guess you do!  Sometimes I could just eat Asher up, he's just so darn cute!!  Those chubby little thighs are just delicious!

Branwen: What a sweet photo!  I LOVE it!  BTW, I've been bummed that Asher's been taking 1.5 hr naps for the past 1.5 weeks (formerly 2-2.5!!).  But I just re-read some parts in BW and it's very typical.  Some drop down to just one nap a day by 9 months!    So I'm gonna stop trying to figure it out and just roll with it as well.  I should count my blessings!  But boy, do I miss those 2.5 hour naps!  It was a nice 2 months while it lasted!    Congrats Eirwen on the tooth!!!  :D

I survived!!!!!! My first day of work that is! It was sooo hard to leave her this morning, but once I was at school I was so busy with meetings and getting my room ready that I didn't have time to think about her.  Well, not really... I did think about her at naptimes and wonder how it was going. Guess what? She took an hour nap this morning and a 2 hour afternoon nap. The sitter said she was an angel. She kept commenting on how well she can play by herself and how much she likes to watch the other kids. SO happy!  :D  :D  :D Plus, since we've come back from our vacation, she has been sleeping better. Last night she slept from 7-4:30 straight!! Then I fed her at 4:30 and she went back to bed till 6:30! Good girl!  :D

Can't remember who asked about nightime diapers, but Huggies makes an overnight diaper, only in size 4 and 5. We use size 4 (it's a little too big, but it works) at night and it works great. The diaper is much more
absorbant.

Branwen - Your new advar is beautiful as are the pics of Eirwen sitting up in the photo gallery. Such a big girl! Yes, we love Colorado and love going to Brekenridge and Copper Mountain skiing and hiking. Can't wait till Leah is big enough for a trip out there again! Congrats on the tooth!!!!!!!!!!

Deb - I agree with Branwen! Liv seems to be doing very well! What a sweetheart! As for camping, we have a HUGE tent. THe air matress fit in there for use and I bet you could get to pack-n-plays in there. Although she did sleep with us in the early morning hours.

JulieB and Michelle - I found the website! So very cool! I love the video of Asher crawling and passing the toy from his feet to his hands!  :D Kinlagh is beautiful in all of her pics and videos what a doll!

Michelle - THanks for the info on dropping the catnap, very helpful. When are you suppose to start meats? 7 months? Not sure when to try these with Leah. Love your new atvar pic!!!!!! Thanks for making me feel better about letting Leah roll off the bed with your story of Kinlagh falling on her face!!!! I feel bad for Kinlagh, but hey we all make silly mistakes right!?!?!

Jamie- Thanks for thinking of me today on my first day back. It was hard, but nice to be back with my co-workers!

That's all for now. I'm pretty tired from working today! It'll take me awhile to get back into the swing of things. I think I'm going to go to bed now. Wait, it's only 8:00, is that bad!?!?!?!?!  :D

I don't really have anything new to post, but I'm glad everyone seems to be doing so well.
Michelle-I can't tell you how many times my heart has sunk thinking I have surely injured Kelsey.  Babies are truley resiliant (sp?).
All the fondue talk has really put me in the "mood", the fondue mood!  We did have the "big night out" with the cheese, salad, meat, and dessert.  It was sooo awesome.  I'd like to go back for just dessert sometime.

I tried some finger foods with Kelsey today.  I tried Rice Crispies, and some type of puffy flake food from a baby food brand.  She gagged over both and I thought I had choked her.  I really got nervous, but tried to play it cool in front of dh, you know, acted like I knew what I was doing.  So does this mean she's not ready, or do I keep trying until she figures out how to mash it with her gums?  I gave her tiny, tiny pieces, and I got them soggy in my mouth (gross, maybe).  I saw those Arrowroot cookies, but I knew she wouldn't be ready for them and I didn't want to waste the expense yet.  She's not good on the sippy cup, yet, either, but I keep offering it to her.  I've been giving her a spoon to hold during feedings, but it distracts her from actually eating.
Oh, and I definitely see some teeth.  They haven't surfaced yet, but I see them through her gums.  I guess this explains the sour baby I've had lately.

Have a great day!
