Do you know what these specialists are called? It's NAET!
« on: March 23, 2011, 17:19:41 pm »
I have been ill repeatedly for a long period.  With the help of Chris (aka kikoz), I eliminated bread from my diet.  I was better until I started eating bread again.  Now I really want to be able to find someone who can find out what I'm really allergic to.  From what Chris described, these specialists watch the reaction from your hand to see if the body rejects this food or not.  I know it's not very scientific and my intention is not to raise a debate.  I just wonder if some of you might know what they are called so that I can search for one in my area.

Thanks in advance.

DH saw one... can't remember what he was called though.  TBH though it wasn't very good sorry!  Could you have allergy testing at the hospital or something?

I googled natropath recently and there are a few nutritional natropaths in my area. Not sure if they test but might be worth starting there and asking them?

My homeopath practices kinesiology, where one holds a vial against their body, and the body replies whether it is ok with that substance or not.  It is AMAZING, and truly based in science, as much as it may sound a bit "out there"...I have not seen it fail.

Also check N.A.E.T....Natural Allergy Elimination Technique.....amazing!!!  You may find chiropractors who use this technology.

 HTH!

Thanks for all your replies.

no.  the specialist and my GP said that there are people who claimed to feel better eliminating yeast in their diet but there are no scientific proofs. So they don't want to have anything to do with that.

I think this might be the answer :)  i'll start searching!  Thanks :* :*

Anne, have you tried NAET yourself?   It says that through the breathing technique, one becomes no longer allergic to the allergens?!?  WOW!

  http://www.naet.com/subscribers/what.html

I have not had it done myself, as I'm not allergic to anything...but my friend was treated for onions, my neice was treated for sunflower allergy, and my dh was treated for poison ivy....magically all the issues vanished.  Read thru the link...there are different ways of utilizing the technology...maybe you can find a qualified person in your area.   :-*

So are you thinking a sensitivity to yeast or to wheat/gluten? Cause if to yeast and you are thinking systemic yeast infection/candida, you should totally talk to Deb - she's quite an expert on that.

And there ARE doctors who test for that too - they can tell by bloods and stool tests I believe - maybe more of a holistic allergist type?

But fascinated by what Anne has posted as well!

In any case Koe, hope you figure it out and start feeling better.

I've always wanted to be able to avail myself of a kinesiologist (I think that's the term) for food sensitivities and allergies.

And yes, we've cut way the heck back on grains for candida and even tho I think the stuff is under control we just don't bother" no grains unless we've soaked them, very little dairy too. Look at http://www.bodyecology.com/ or borrow the book from the library for more on that. :)

Anne, I do think that NAET is what I was looking for.  I heard from a friend whose allergy was cured by it.  I'm most interested in the curing part.  If something is identified and I have to eliminate all my life, it's no fun.  I found 3 in my city but DH wants me to wait to hear from his long lost friend whose mother might be one for some references.

DH is very scientific and refuses to accept anything that just sounds like fib.  But he saw how one of his rowers (he's a rowing coach) that she couldn't lose weight no matter how hard she tried and after seeing this mother of another rower who listed the things she had to omit, she lost the weight required to qualify for her weight group.  That was probably 10 years ago.  So DH is supportive.

I also like that they don't need blood work.  I am anemic and I have had numerous blood tests already and they aren't the slightest helpful.  I just feel so weak and I'm sick again.  So miserable.  I'm worried for the long term how I can care for my family when I keep getting this sick.

Karen and Deb, thanks for your replies.  I don't think it's so yeast/gluten or whatever because I seem to have a problem with bread from our breadmaker.  I tried different brands of bread mixes, and still have the same problem.  I don't want to experiment anymore and I don't want to eliminate more than I need to.  I want to be rid of it if possible.

Commercially-made bread contains a gazillion ingredients that most home bakers wouldn't bother with, so not too big a surprise that homemade bread doesn't cause quite the same degree of trouble.

I went to a local health food shop for a food intolerence test - I held a metal probe against my thumb and then tested the reaction against various foods (a dial moved up the more sensitive I was to it).  I know they are not scientifically proved but the only thing it showed up for me was (mildy) cows milk - I cut that out (never liked it even as a child and only had it on cereal) and my skin stopped being spotty and my nose cleared up.  If I have milk now I get a really upset stomach.  DS also has milk problems.

I didn't see the harm in getting it done especially as it only highlighted one item. I think if it highlighed a lot and you cut all of them out that is where people are concerned.
L x Having a bw break from 1 Feb 2012 - if you want to get in touch please send me a pm.  I may not be here but you are all in my thoughts xxxx (probably be back some time)

I totally agree with you.  But the strangest thing is that I never seemed to have such big problems with store bought ready bread, even the factory mass produced presliced bread.

Lucy, I'm glad that you found the culprit and it's helping.

With Anne's info, I managed to get an appointment on thurs morning, before we leave for our vacation.  I'm really psyched and anxious at the same time.  I really hope that it can help me.  From my research, it seems like even some autistic kids turned out to be extremely allergic to certain things and with elimination diet, some are cured!!  How very exciting.

Will keep you posted in case someone is interested.  Thanks again :* :*

Our homeopath believes that at least 75%  kids who are dignosed ADD/ADHD are actually suffering from food sensitivities.  Best of luck to you...can't wait to hear what happens!
