Earplugs too. They don't drown out the noise (obviously) but do take the edge off (and I am convinced take the edge of the cortisol production too)

Just read all your gorgeous messages thank you.

As for routine: did the nnd four days ago but he hasn't slept long enough yet to get us back to another. Nights have been shorter since the nnd than they were before: 10hr30, 9hr, 10hr30, 10hr20. Prior to nnd they were: 10hr35, 10hr55, 10hr10, 11hr30.

Since the nnd, I've also pushed him to a 7.30 pd at bt and he's asleep in 10-15mins.

So nights have shortened consistently since later bt and one nnd.

Should I just stay with what I've got?

What time is the nap now?
(I think I'd be tempted to move it later to encourage a later morning WU, I know we've talked about this possibility before - you don't need to change immediately, let's just think about it, yes?)

Any further thoughts on the gro clock or timer lights?  I think if you were to introduce this very soon it could really help him get a bit more sleep.

Many hugs

Nap is at 1.45 creations.

We cd move it to 2 but not sure when.

Yes I tried to buy glo clock online and with postage was $79.99! Argh. My partner isn't supportive of it so I need to find cheaper one ASAP.

Lights on a timer is definitely your cheaper option. You may already have a useable lamp and a timer switch here would be less than £5 so I'm sure that'll be a good option.

What are DH's reservations?

Yep lights on a timer is going to be the cheapest option. I used the timer I already owned and a lamp I already owned so zero$$ I actually did it as a bit of an experiment thinking I would pay for a gro clock at a later date if/when the method worked for us, mine was also quite a bit younger than most are when the clock is introduced and I wasn't sure buying one was worth it if he didn't understand.
There must be a hardware store nearby that sells timers. I'd just do that. It could be the thing that persuades your DP that paying out for a gro clock is worth the $$$

Lights are great coming on for morning, it is such an obvious visual cue!
The only down side is if LO needs to sleep in late and is woken by the lights. Mine slept right through the lights (they are on for 20 mins only) a few times when he was super tired and other times he has woken and been a bit of a grouch due to not getting quite the length of sleep he wanted.  Simple fix though to move the lights on for the next night so he doesn't get woken too early.  I ended up investing in a new digital timer which has multiple setting options instead of the gro clock (after using my old timer switch for ages first) so I can set the weekend to automatically give a lie in and the weekdays we have to get up on time for nursery.  Can't tell you how amazing it was the first time I used the timer to give myself an extra 30 mins on the weekend!! Wow!

I would move the nap later, 2pm or 2.15pm, do you feel you could do this?

I wouldn't want to move it past 2 to start with but am not sure when the best time would be to move it because in the last week I've pushed bt from 6.30 to 7.30 so I'm wondering if he's still learning to cope with that at the moment??

Still holding your hand straffles. Sounds like good progress is being made.

I can see a gro clock on ebay posted from the uk for about $45 all up. There is one on ebay from someone in Brisbane, for local pick up.. listed at $20. If you were to bid and win I could collect it and post to you if you like?

Oh you are so sweet mycat!

I've just found one locally for $40!

I fell asleep at nap time and let Benji oversleep by 7 mins. He's been tantruming for 30 mins. Happy now. Shd I put him to bed later tonight?? Last time he slept 55mins he did that 8hr45 night!

Awesome, and really when you are done with it you can onsell it and maybe even get $40 so you can argue to your partner it is really free, when you think about it.

Not sure about bt, 7min doesn't sound alot but benji is pretty sensitive. How late would you push bt out to dyt?

Hugs straffles.

i hope i dont confuse you but i thought id share what i did with dd yesterday. She dropped nap in summer time but has occasional nap which i do if i need a break or we have plans. Usually it throws bt later but this is what worked for us (perhaps for your nap days)

Wu 6.30
Nap 12.45-1.45 (pd 12.30) capped
bt 8 (pd 7.30)

So a longer day and as dd is sensitive too i thought it may have been too much. I heard her at 6.30 make noises but not since then. Its 7.30 now :D

i know some ppl say that when nap dropping longer pm a over rides shorter am a and not lead to ew. Also if hes had a nnd he may go for earlier nap?

I would stick with what youre currently doing if youre comfortable with it and u feel b is settling into routine tho :)
aishi :)

We've done a nnd today as he slept 8pm-6.30. Bt is 6. He's never done such a long day.

I've set up the glo clock and he understands it.

I'm very nervous - the last few nnds were from post 7am wus.

What is likely to happen?

Not predictable hun unfortunately, but I hope it works out for you.  Try not to stress about the day length - as I've said plenty of times J did some mammoth NNDs and we all survived xxx
