Christine, interesting about Leah's bedtime feed refusals as well! Though the REALLY strange thing with Asher is, he'll happily take a 8 oz bottle of EBM even though he can get it from me faster. So go figure! I posted on the BF board again and the two who replied said I should just go ahead and drop that feed, concentrating on the others. I don't know what I'm gonna do yet.
Hazel, hope you got Daniel in to the doc, the wheezing concerns me as well. That sounds like it's getting worse instead of better, as it should. Do you have a humidifier going for him? May help the breathing.
Deb, hang in there! Deep breaths, big hugs!! I definately think food can be affected by colds, it always happens to me! I also wonder if Olivia just has a picky palate right now. She's not eating because she doesn't see anything she likes? I know when Asher started out, there were far more foods he DIDN'T like than those he did. I felt like he'd be eating pears for every meal! Still eats one a day. In the beginning, he only liked the sweet things (and bonus if they were finger food), pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, and peas. New foods always took at least a few tries. Still doesn't like avocado or kiwi though. I always read about offering 15-20 times before they develop a taste for a food. One trick I learned with Asher is to offer the new food alone at the beginning of the meal. If I offer it with familiar items, he turns his nose up. It's like he needs to have a "clean palate." Try to relax, offer a variety of foods (in hopes of nailing 1 or 2) at each meal, and then try again at the next meal. I think you're right that Olivia does pick up on your stress and may think of it as a game. I promise she won't be like this forever!
Asher had a fun day today being the social butterfly. Takes him a bit to warm up, then it's party, party, party! I don't know who entertained who more, the family or Asher? He also had turkey and liked it (just like me! yum!). We've been giving him bits of chicken this week as well (liked that as well). Amazingly took GREAT naps, pretty tuckered out from all the people, I guess. Had to wake him from both!
I fed him part of our "dinner" for the first time last night -- chicken stir fry. It was all things he's eaten before, but it was mixed together like ours is. He didn't know what to think. I gave it in a bowl on his tray, but he doesn't know how to use a spoon and the rice, small bits of chicken and veggies were hard to pick up. Occasionaly he'd just pick out something he recognized. Ended up spoon feeding most of it to him. When should I start letting him practice eating with a spoon? What age is normal for them to be able to do that?
