I second the dietitian thing... It's good that they are already due to see one but I wonder if you could get an earlier appointment if you stress how lost you are with figuring out what they can/can't eat? Call the dietitians office directly.
In the meantime you could keep a food and symptoms diary (trust me that is what they will get you to do at the appointment anyway so you may as well go armed with it to expedite the treatment options and process)

Liz they're under a dietician but not due to see her till Sept but I'll maybe see what I can do. Tbh they didn't say anything else would be a problem just to avoid soy and milk. But it's becoming obvious when things are causing an issue.
Yah this was our problem, the public peads just had much sicker babies to deal with YK? - so we had to go privately and to see someone who looked at the digestive system as a whole because I felt in my heart, gut and from my research that this is where Ts problems were. Go figure I was right for once in my life ;)

Re the groups...neither. I had to learn. :( Eloise is so so helpful if you have specific Qs about supplements, or some food areas like salycilytes, otherwise I'm happy to help you through specifics on pm or on another thread in FA.

I know this is a broken record, but I really suspect once they are 12 mths things will start to settle. Not be perfect, but settle. Both my kids never STTN consistently. Or were that well until then really. The digestive system matures a lot in the first year.

It's just getting worse round here, J woke at 11pm screaming (has done for a few nights now) and woke H.  Both awake at 3am and then before 6am.  Not sure how much more I can take.  It's unusual for H to wake so or be so disturbed by J.  I don't know whether they are just chronically OT or whether it's developmental or food related :-\

Napping is now becoming an issue too...

I'm at the end of my tether with these boys and their sleep. It's just a joke.

((((Hugs))))) Laura.

Ok let's have another look at their days ATM. Can you post their EAS?
Any teething?
Are they waking each other you think? - if so is it worth trying separate rooms again?, or one in with you?
Are they IS ATM?

Their typical day looks like this...
wake 6ish (usually 30mins either side)
nap 10 - 11.15am
nap trying to get them down around 2pm but not having a lot of luck, this nap now often happens in the buggy in the garden somewhere between 2 and 3pm and is tops 40mins
bedtime asleep by 7pm
nws J usually wakes at least  twice - 3am is usual time I'll feed him
nws H will often sleep till 4 or 5am then I'll feed and usually he'll go back down - if it's nearer 5am it's much more of a struggle.

Teeth - who knows!  Aren't babies technically always teething?!  I've given meds before, not made much of a difference.

They sometimes wake each other but if they're not unsettled due to food I find it happens a lot less.

They go down at night and naps completely independently.  Often at night it'll take them 20mins of chatting and flipping over then they'll go off.

They are desperate to crawl but aren't there yet so I'm sure this isn't helping.

TBH I could cope with being up once to each to feed them as long as they settle quickly, I know they don't *need* to be fed but given they can settle themselves and never fall asleep on the bottle anymore I don't particularly see it as an issue atm...

I will apop H back to sleep at 5am if necessary.

I have made up their new food and that regime will start properly today.

8 mths is such a cranky age ::) our sleep went wonky with developmental stuff too I think.
Do they wake themselves at 1hr15 usually in the morning nap? If so I'd be tempted to push that nap 15 mins later and see if you can get a longer one - then turn the pm one into an optional CN of 20/30 mins.
On an hr15 nap at this age my boys would be able to do a good 3.5 hrs still....so 2pm is probably UT and I'd go for 2.30/3 and then keep Bt the same. (But do you  have the school run to contend with?)

I'd totally feed and apop that EW too. I STILL feed and APOP EW with T if I have too!

DYT J is lower sleep needs than H?

Yes, I've tried pushing it but that's what they sleep!  They have a 38min sleep cycle so it's two of those.

I know it's prob ut cos when tired they settle straight away, that's why I'm wondering if they're going down to bed at night UT??  Yes I have a school run which is the issue.   I have to pick O up in the car cos it's too far for him to walk but it's not a long enough run for them to sleep!  So I either have to get a nap in before or drive around after I get O.

Anyway they both went down at 9.15am.  I fully expect them only to sleep 40mins but at least I should be able to get another nap in later.

I'm starting to wonder if J is lower sleep needs than H, H will fall asleep in the car after a short A whereas J won't necessarily.
Anyway t

Okies so if you got to choose would you want their CN in the am or pm...you could try something like this for 5 days and see if the NW settle down?
WU 6
Nap 10.30-11.45 (or as long as they like)
CN 3.15 or after school run for 30 mins
BT 7 or earlier if they're tired from the longer As earlier.

Or...
WU 6
CN 9.30-10 if they will take it?
Nap 12.30/1 and hope the nap goes for 1.5 hrs or so
BT 6.45/7

What do you think? Or, you could try pd J a bit after H and see if he sleeps more soundly from a slightly longer day?

This is typically what we've been doing just earlier am nap.  When I tried pushing them longer with their a time it backfired.  I'll aim for catnap after the school run instead and see what happens.

I tried the am waking but they were bears when I woke them that I decided it just wasn't worth it, also I just can't rely on a second long nap yk?

However today they have made it through the 40min mark! So it'll be different anyway!  Shall I aim for second nap at least 3.5hrs from first one?

Yup if you get over an hour I'd try for the longer A then CN, just bear in mind they may need a slightly earlier Bt though

I did long am short pm with my boys too ;) they never settled into the short am nap/long pm ::)

Well... they slept 1hr and 15mins!  Honestly I could set my watch by them (well H had a few mins less due to J waking him but pretty much like clockwork!) O used to sleep 45mins to the dot!  Clearly my routine and schedule fuelled life has had some affect!

So they woke at 10.30am ish - will aim for a 2pm nap and see what happens.

Yeah I agree with Sara. The second nap is probably too soon after the first one but I see you're a bit stuck with picking o up from school.  Fx they nap for you this afternoon.
