5.30am start again. Hellllllllllllpppppppp! Please ladies - what am I doing wrong? I am so so tired, I have kind of lost what I need to do.
I think I only have 2 options.
1. Make the day longer i.e. if he did a 1.5 nap and woke at 3.10pm then a 6.40pm bedtime was probably early and if he is only going to do 10.50 nights then he was always going to be awake too early.
2. Try one nap around 11am and do an early bed? Really earl bedtimes scare me though.

Just don't know what to do but cannot have 5.30am become our new wake time - he looks really tired but in a pretty good mood.

What do I do? What is this all about?

do you think it might be worth me doing a longer nap this am and then either doing a CN if he will take it or an early bedtime instead of the later nap in the pm? Clutching at straws here but just thinking that he goes nearly 8 hours and then has his good nap and then goes to bed quite soon after...oh I don't know x

i know you have said that H needs that early bedtime but i honestly think its that thats the problem!

He had a good pm sleep yesterday,i think you could have stretched that bedtime out more.
3.10-6.40 is only a 3.5 A,thats way to short IMO,thats something a young baby is doing.i think you need to push that bedtime A time,he should be able to do at least 4.5 on that good nap.i know you said he needs a low A to bed so if thats the case you need to do it slowly but i think you will find thats the prob.

if it was me id just push for 1 nap,2 naps always gave us an EW the next day so it could be that not helping too.if you really want to stick to 2 naps id do what he was used to but push that bedtime.i know towards the end of the 2-1 a lot of mums are having to have a later bedtime to get 2 naps in but H is having 2 naps and an early bedtime that most mums would do for a  1 nap day. Do you see what im saying?

Yes Lucy, I do see and I guess I have lost it a bit! I worry that his day will start to be about 14 hours long which is a lot but i have to do something. I don't want to stick with 2 naps but I was having a nightmare with 1 tbh but maybe I just have to push through it. He is not great on early bedtimes which is why one nap scares me.
Ok - well thanks for checking in, I really appreciate your advice. I am going to try 2 again with a longer last A time and pray for a 6am start and then it is one nap for us whatever it brings.

Lucy's ideas sound good.  If you go with 2 naps, then maybe pushing that last A is the ticket.  When I read her post, I realized that my LO hasn't been doing an A that short after the nap since 9 months or so.  Maybe even earlier.  That last A was always our longest.

As for 1 nap, I think a lot of moms have to push through the short naps and OT because their LOs just have more issues on 2 naps.  I know that was Lucy's experience and it was definitely mine.

Hugs Becky, I completely agree with Lucy and Kara.  I definitely think the A time till bed is too short.

2-1 sucks!  That's why I just stopped transitioning and stuck to one.  Hang in there.

I wouldn't worry too much about the long day with an early wake up and a longer A before bed because the idea would be (fingers crossed) that the day would become shorter as his wake up got later and you dropped that first short nap. iykwim?

FWIW if Ben was up at 3.30pm I could not do bed before about 7.45 or he would be up super early.

We're actually just getting EW again here now as I think it's time for me to cap his one nap. *sigh*

I would always do earlier bedtimes that everyone else recommends, so I'll back out on the advice giving at this point  :)!

Hi, I know I'm too late on this but I wouldn't have put him to bed before 7! I think at his age he'd need at least a 4.5hr A time to bed. I think you may have missed a trick by not doing a 1 nap day when he slept past 6am. If it were me, I'd stick to a 7/7.30pm bedtime and go to 1 nap any day he sleeps past 6am.
