Hi, Papaya, I just re-read your comments and have a quesiton.  If DD can only keep the nap 2 for 1.5hrs, this should mean UT, right?  Then I should target BT at 7pm today and cap her nap 1 to 30 mins with 2.5hrs~3hrs second A time tomorrow.  Is this correct?  Aye, my dizzy head cannot figure out this simple logic.  Need your little help.  Tks!

A 1.5 hr nap is fine - that's 2 sleep cycles, so a full nap. You want anything 1.5hr+ for your second nap. Classic UT lengths are 55 mins - 1hr20.

So say she sleeps today from 2.15 - 3.45, I would aim for bed at 7, perhaps a little later. If she sleeps til 4, I wouldn't put her down before 7.30. Either would be a good day :)

Glad you got a later WU! It's still not a terribly long night though - 10hr20? I think he was a touch OT with that cryout at the one hour mark.

Hope it's a good day today :) Maybe nap at 11.30?

Hiya, yep totally agree, better than the last few nights, but still not really enough. I'd just asked nursery to do an 11 am nap when I got back and saw your message. But they are going to give him milk before putting him down (not so much flexibility with early lunchtimes as at home) and then lunch when he gets up. So I suspect it will be between 11.15/11.30 by the time he goes to sleep. Fingers crossed. :-)

Yeah, I think that'll be good - earlier might be better as I think he'll still be tired from the short night. Hope he does a really good nap!

DD only made 1hr20mins for nap 2 from2:20pm to 3:40pm.  Guess it's UT.  I tried to put her down for BT at7pm but she refused it.  So I restarted the wind down and she fell asleep at 7:20pm.  Is this OT? She didn't pass the 1st hour mark and already had two NWs.  I'm now stuck in her room waiting until she's really settled down.  Should I cap the am nap to 30mins tomorrow?

Hmm, could be OT if neither nap was quite restorative enough for her. I'd be inclined to try to find how long that second A needs to be at this stage to get a longer pm nap. She might need just another 10-15 mins on the second A.

Hi Papaya,

I've just spoken to DS nursery and he had a good nap, 11.10-1.30, so 2 hours 20.  But i'm wondering what time I should try and get him to bed for as it's still a long afternoon for him, if he's used to sleeping til 3.30/4 and then a 7.30 bt.  I could try and finish work a bit early to do an ebt. What do you think?

Hi papaya,

Tried doing an ebt, put him down at 6.45 but didn't go to sleep until 7.35 after a lot of complaining. Do you think he was ot? We've made it past the 1 hour mark okay. Do you think I should still try and stick to the same routine tomorrow? Tia

hi Trinity,

he was probably OT with that long afternoon. If you get a good WU tomorrow you could push the nap to 11.15 and hope for a 1.45 or later WU - which should be ok for a 6.45 bt.

We had a bad night with multiple NWs and she woke up at 6:30am crying.  Should be OT as she used to wake up happily and could play with herself in the crib before I go to her.  So today I am going to give her 3h15mins 1st A time and aim for 9:45am for am nap for 40 mins.  Set 2nd A for 3.5h and pm nap at 12:55 or 1pm, hoping she could sleep for 2hrs.  Sounds like a good plan, but only if DD can follow it. :(

Hi Papaya,

Yeah figured the bt drama was probably ot as he's normally really good at bt. We had an ok night with no pre 12 nw though. Awake for about 10 mins at 4ish but then up for the day at 5.35 so not as long a night as I'd hoped + a bit of an ew  :(

I've said to nursery to do the same as yesterday.....????

Do you think we ought to consider a pm catnap depending on the time he wakes from 11/11.15 nap?  Or is this just going to keep us in the ot/ut loop.  ???

He did start falling asleep in the car on the way back from nursery yesterday (5.45pm) and I kept him awake by singing nursery rhymes :D. If he does this tonight do you think I should let him have 5-10 mins.....or is that likely to further confuse bt?

Many thanks

ps: good luck jingmommy - hope dd follows mummy's well thought out plans! Shame we can't get their buy in at the planning stage huh ;D

Sorry for no personals but only have few mins and am on phone and hard to write much. Think J just has under tired nap. Put him down and slept from about 11.05 to 12.30. I say think though as his fall times could have been few cpl mins earlier as busy to keep an eye on monitor. What to donext? Catnap at 3.30?? Do you think I should push him to 11.10 tomorrow?

Trinity, you could give him a short cn (maybe 10/15 mins) every few days, if you think he needs it to avoid OT. We did this for the first couple of weeks on one nap, and after that my LO didn't need it anymore. We were able to push the nap 15 mins later by then too.

WW, what was your WU this morning? tbh, that length nap sounds OT to me. (The rules change on one nap and anything under 2 hours when you first start is often OT! 1hr30 and 1hr50 are common.) I would try to get a cn in if you can.
