I'd leave him as along as you feel you can when he wakes from his naps. A was the same with resettling, but when she was OT and transitioning to one nap, she could sometimes fuss for 20-30 mins but then go back to sleep once she realised I wasn't coming to get her ;) (she was only fussing/moaning, never full on distressed crying).

I would say most days are around 645 or sometime between 630 and 7.

I dont mind leaving him to fuss but he throws his pacifiers out of the cot so i have to go in and give them back and then he gets angry and starts screaming so i cant say leaving him there would be without distressed crying yk??

What about getting one of those paci clips so it's always attached to him? Or you could do a WIWO just to give him his paci's back every 10 mins or so.

Well the clips dont work, he knows how to rip them off. I can try wiwo every 10 minutes but there will be serious crying! How long should i do this? You dont think he is waking from ut? What if he wont resettle?

Well if he won't resettle you're in the same position you were before, right? Nothing lost. I don't know if WIWO will work, or if it's right for Liam - just telling you that my daughter WOULD go back to sleep after a short nap, but when we were in the transition it would take her a long time to resettle.

I'd bet on OT rather than UT since he's doing short nights and short naps, no? What do you think?

Yes i am sure he is ot but could the nap be ut or should he be taking a long nap no matter what since his nights are short??
So you think i should stick to 4.5hr A or stick to set nap at 12?

Hun I really don't know which will work best. In the end, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference so I would just pick one and try to stick with it for a week. For me, 4.5hrs A time worked the best at that age - better than set naps - but of course everyone is different.

Sorry I really didn't come on here to try to offer routine advice because I know I haven't been particularly able to help in the past. And Koe has been giving great advice and I hope she will continue to do so! All I wanted to say was that it can take a long time for them to resettle from a short nap when you're in the 2-1 transition.

Thank you so much for the advice anna! I really appreciate it! I will stick with 4.5hr A for a few days and try to get him to lengthen the nap. What do you think i should do for the rest of the day?? Just ebt? At what time?

Maya, you have a hunch that he needs 5 h A, so why not stick with that?  You move it +/- 15 mins depending on long or short nap.

You mean BT? Do 645? You don't think I should stick to A times for BT also? So do lets say 4hr A since the nap was only 1hr and maybe he will tack on? If not then let's say he sleeps 11hrs he will wake at 4... Fr sure I can get him back to sleep and he will catch up a bit, no?

Hehe sorry we rare chasing each other on q and a lol.  I did mean 6:45 bt.  You also mentioned about sticking to 4.5 A but you got a very short nap today.  Was he happy when he woke up?  If you do 4.5h A, he will be in bed at 5:30pm.  Can you actually fall asleep yourself at 7? You do EBT yourself to catch up some sleep first

I don't know about 7 for me but probably 9 I can sleep.
I will try to put him to sleep after 4.5hrA
He was not happy because he was still tired but can't sleep, yk? But the whole afternoon he is in a great mood, not acting tired so I think ut for the nap.

Around 4-430 he started to be grumpy so I got things moving and got him in bed by 5. He fell asleep at 510. I hope this works!! Dh's brother is here for a work trip and he thinks I am insane! His DS is 2, goes to sleep at 8 and wakes at 5. Last week they went on vacation and he woke everyday at 345!!!! My DH also thinks I am crazy putting him to bed so early. This morning around 6 when I was trying to resettle DS my DH was begging me to get him up. He thinks he just isn't tired anymore... He doesn't understand that he is OT and he can't sleep from the adrenaline. :(

Well done you!  I am glad that you could do it despite what DH and his brother thought.  DH wouldn't let me do it at that age when he wasnt even the one doing nights and mornings!!  I didn't know why I listened to him.  FX. I hope you get some decent sleep also
